    Bortles looks great.

I'm not super sold on him leading an NFL team to the playoffs but he is one of the best available in college.

Not overly impressed by Bortles tonight..yeah, 3 TDs but 2 of them were dump offs that went the distance. Reminded me of Weeden at OSU lol

I've held off from commenting on Bortles until now because I hadn't seen much of him aside from his unimpressive game against South Carolina.

I want nothing to do with him in the top 5. Nothing.
  • CLEconomically Speaking
Yeah. I like Bortles but not at 4. I'd go Jake Matthews, Sammy Watkins, or trade down
  • wes_mantooth
I bet he would be sitting there for the late first rounder we have.

    You think?

Lot of drafts have him in the top 5

Who knows...just a gut feeling that he is the guy that slides.

I still remember the draft where Aaron Rodgers slid....fucking espn keeping a camera in his face making a huge deal of it. He was supposedly a top 5 lock

Looks like ESPN was right on that one.

Where is Murray slated to be drafted?

mocks/media are saying Bortles top 5, but NFL scouts are saying 2nd round

Teams always reach for QB's(see: Ponder, Christian). I'd be shocked if Bortles didn't go in the first.

I've looked at 4 different ones and he's all over the place.

I like the Bortles/Tannehill comparison. And I think Tannehill was a huge reach by Miami.

Late 1st-Mid 2nd seems about right to me. But there are so many teams that need QBs early it's hard to say. I wouldn't take Carr over him.

I feel like expectations for Bortles were too high tonight, since most people haven't really seen him play until tonight. He still had a heck of a game, but people seem to be down on him for it. I really think Bortles plays a lot like Roethlisberger. It's not always pretty, but he finds a way to get it done. Not to mention, they installed read option for this game, it hasn't really been part of their offense.

Here's a question, what if Clowney is still on the board when our pick comes up, with Teddy and Bortles being gone. Do we take Clowney and wait for our 2nd pick to take a QB?

In a 4-3, Clowney should be the Browns #1 target...

If we don't use the first pick on a QB we might as well wait till the third round and take a Murray, McCarron, or Boyd. This is what I think should happen anyway. Bortles and Carr aren't sure things. We could go WR CB RB with our first three picks and still get one of these three guys. We have more needs to fill than just QB, can't waste another top pick on a guy who might not pan out.

    Another vote to draft Bortles.

I follow UCF a little more than most (gf went there) and always tell people Bortles is Big Ben 2.0. I think a lot of his issues passing are footwork related so hopefully he cleans it up during the lead up to the combine. If we do end up with a supposed QB guru like McDaniels I think that could be a good place for him. He also does a lot of the play calling at the line and despite what last nights INTs might have shown he typically makes the right decision passing.

But no position is more important than the QB position...

We can't waste another top pick on a bust...so, Cleveland scouts, do your fucking jobs, and don't pick a fucking bust. But that first pick HAS to be a QB.

Continuing to try and hit on a 2nd-3rd round QB obviously hasn't ever panned out for us, so lets stay away from that.

Also, keep in mind the QB we take is more than likely going to be behind Hoyer to start the season. So don't automatically assume who we take is going to get thrown to the wolves early.

I see that with his size and arm. I think he is like Rodgers/Elway/McNabb with his mobility. Not a running QB, but quick enough to scramble downfield and slide for a good amount of yards.

Haha well according to ESPN you'll have to trade up for Bortles. Teddy #1, Clowney #2, Bortles #3 and Manziel to the Browns at #4. Jacksonville is really high on him I guess

No he wasn't? No one needed a QB after 1 really and when Smith was taken everyone knew it was going to be a fairly good slide. Not all the way down to GB maybe but still
