2014 Cleveland Browns Offseason Thread

I wouldn't be stoked about a McDaniels hiring, but I'm not as apposed to it as everyone else seems to be. What am I missing?

I just have more of an issue with Lombardi....and this is his boy. Hopefully it works out, but Lombardi is a snake so I assume the worst

Anyway be a fan of McDaniel at all. Is this is why they fired Chud, then they are idiots IMO.
And all you do is discount everyone's opinion if they don't line up with yours. You're no different than iggy, no matter how much you think you are. Maybe you'll be taken seriously at some point if you would debate like an adult.

I was hardly defending iggy lol.

I like McDaniels as he's a good offensive mind and from the area, but his time in Denver was less than spectacular. I thought we wanted a proven winner? So are they counting him because he has won under Belichek? If he's our guy, I'm going to root for him. Let's remember that some of the most successful coaches didn't start their career's off with a bunch of wins. Hopefully, he can bring some of the winning culture with him from NE.

Their won't be any openings when the Super Bowl is over.

I hope these mcdaniels rumors are false. It seems a bit odd to fire Chud and practically immediately give the job to mcdaniels. If they wanted josh all along, why didn't they just hire him last year?

Maybe McDaniels didn't want it last year?

It's possible they didn't give him want he wanted. The timing of the firing and the timing of all these rumors of mcdaniels pretty much having the job just seems funny to me.

Also I like you and your posts, but GTFO with the packers talk bullshit. You know damn well being a browns fan is in your blood.

I'm sure they are just talking to mcdaniels to have a backup in case they're unsuccessful getting these other guys. I'm sure they'll go after some big fish, a few up and comer coordinators, and some college guys..if they're unsuccessful they'll have mcdaniels to fall back on, who in their eyes wouldn't be their first option but a better option than chud.

I would hope so. The reports that he has the job just seem more than just a bit premature.

So after this year, there will never be another HC job in the NFL come open? Coaches find an excuse to get out of certain situations in a cordial manner, kinda like O'Brien did last year. You never know when a team may come calling again, when the job is more attractive.

Orrr he is focused on winning a SB before he wants to worry about interviews for a new position. Keep drinking the crybaby Cleveland kool aid though iggy 2.0.

    Sure there will.
A couple will get hired in somewhat short order as teams will panic to get "their guy" that they been eyeing, but a couple will wait it out. How long depends on what teams keep winning.

To be Fair, I really doubt hes doing much gameplanning. He's got to have the easiest Job in the NFL.

Peyton runs the offense, much like he did in Indy with Jim Caldwell as his OC.

But I agree with you, I'm assuming he wants to focus on the tasks he has, but at the same time, he very well may not be interested in Cleveland, but instead of burning bridges he gives the cop out answer of wanting to focus.

McDaniels turned down all interviews for HC last year.. I think his wife was about to have their child or some shit like that. Who knows who cares

Hearing Gus Malzahn is top Choice for browns.
  • se-alum
Take Malzahn over McDaniels any day.
  • Lovejoy1984
Agree, he's been successful everywhere he's went.

....you guys are making this way too complicated. They hired Chud because they thought he was the best choice. They saw things during the season that they didn't like that suggested that he wasn't the guy to go forward. I know some of you guys are blinded by your hate of Banner/Lombardi... But as bad as they may be, and as bad as you think they are, they are not complete idiots. They are full aware of the implications and ramifications of what they did. They saw something in the finish of the season that convinced them that Chud was not the guy to lead the team in the future.
