But he wasn't the best choice....he was their 5th choice apparently. Sounds to me like he had the deck stacked against him from the get goHitsRus;1560077 wrote:....you guys are making this way too complicated. They hired Chud because they thought he was the best choice. They saw things during the season that they didn't like that suggested that he wasn't the guy to go forward. I know some of you guys are blinded by your hate of Banner/Lombardi... But as bad as they may be, and as bad as you think they are, they are not complete idiots. They are full aware of the implications and ramifications of what they did. They saw something in the finish of the season that convinced them that Chud was not the guy to lead the team in the future. -
Tigerfan00So what if the new coach goes 4-12 in his first season, do you fire him? If not then how do you justify firing one coach for a 4 win season but don't fire the next one?

I guess it depends on whether or not the brass feels that progress is being made. The way I understand it, that's what the biggest complaint was.Tigerfan00;1560080 wrote:So what if the new coach goes 4-12 in his first season, do you fire him? wes_mantoothAlso, I'm not big on chud, but I think the bigger problem is the idiots above him
-
HitsRusDo you think he's fired if he goes 6-10?...or even if they just play the last two games down to the wire?....instead of being embarrassed by the Jets and the Steelers?
-
wes_mantooth
Well, throw the Steelers game out, because they said the decision was made before that.HitsRus;1560084 wrote:Do you think he's fired if he goes 6-10?...or even if they just play the last two games down to the wire?....instead of being embarrassed by the Jets and the Steelers?
But honestly, no idea....I just think that banner and Lombardi are egomaniacs that think they are smarter than everyone else -

like_thatGus is intriguing, but could he handle an NFL roster? The guy literally was coaching HS football 9 years ago.

Pick6idk how i feel about him. he runs basically 3 plays and has had all of his success with gimmicky qbs (newton and marshall)

My brother knows a lot about him. He has connections with Arkansas st football and he is definitely not gimmicky. With auburns personnel, that was what he had to run bc of their passing game. His offense was a bit different when he was at ak st. He's a great football mind and I am 100% confident he would adapt his offense to personnel and to the nfl gamePick6;1560132 wrote:idk how i feel about him. he runs basically 3 plays and has had all of his success with gimmicky qbs (newton and marshall) -

You can learn a hell of a lot in 8 years. If he's always been successful it's hard not to assume the guy has what it takes. He'd fairly high up my list.like_that;1560127 wrote:Gus is intriguing, but could he handle an NFL roster? The guy literally was coaching HS football 9 years ago. -
Pick6Dave Furst ‏@DaveFurst 4m #Colts Trent Richardson went out of his way today to thank the Indy media for "knowing football."

shook_17"Cleveland is also expected to make former Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz, who was fired this week after a 7-9 record this season, the team’s defensive coordinator for 2014." Per LaCanfora FWIW
lol so back to the 4-3? -
iclfan2Why would they hire a coordinator without the coach being hired? What coach wants to come into a situation where they can't pick their own coordinators?
-
CLEconomically Speaking
Looks that way. I think we're still better set up for the 4-3 from a personnel standpoint anyway though. Probably a good thing.shook_17;1560220 wrote: lol so back to the 4-3? -

They must have informally agreed to something with whoever they are going to hire and gotten them to sign off. If they didn't, they are bigger morons than I give them credit for and that is really saying something.iclfan2;1560242 wrote:Why would they hire a coordinator without the coach being hired? If that's the thought process of those in charge, changing coaches will not fix the core problem.HitsRus;1560084 wrote:Do you think he's fired if he goes 6-10?...or even if they just play the last two games down to the wire?....instead of being embarrassed by the Jets and the Steelers? -
Azubuike24Schwartz is a 4-3 guy. Unless Mingo is an OLB, this makes last year's pick look somewhat puzzling now...
-
wes_mantooth
I don't really think they wanted Mingo....rumor was they were shopping the hell out of that pickAzubuike24;1560440 wrote:Schwartz is a 4-3 guy. Unless Mingo is an OLB, this makes last year's pick look somewhat puzzling now... -
Azubuike24But Mingo isn't a bad player either. It's not like he's a guy who can't even see the field.
-
wes_mantoothAgreed. I think he has some adjusting to do, but he'll be fine
-
Pick6didnt LSU run a 4-3? regardless, not sure he is big enough to play straight DE
-
Azubuike24
Yeah, but he was able to dominate with speed and length at that level. He also had Montgomery on the other side. He's definitely not big enough to play DE in a 4-3...probably needs to add 25 lbs. More likely he moves to OLB in a 4-3.Pick6;1560464 wrote:didnt LSU run a 4-3? regardless, not sure he is big enough to play straight DE -
se-alumLooking forward to seeing what Bortles can do tonight against Baylor.
