    So uh...
    Coupled with that.

    Cousing FGA 16.8
    Gay FGA 15.3
    Thomas FGA 15.2

    No.

Wade's numbers are hurt because he is no longer an elite/great player.

17, which combined with Bosh, is actually less shots than Boogie, and Thomas took from the kings

Basketball-reference. Should have clarified that's where I was getting all of my stats from.

I disagree, if he didn't shoot so well from the field maybe I would see your point. But he can still get AND make the shots he's always had. He can still rebound and pass, and he makes impact plays on the defensive end, although not as much as he used to. I believe he is the number one shot blocking guard in the history of the game.

What did Gay shoot from the field?

robj55;1629675 wrote:Do you even know what those stats mean? I watched the Kings probably 10 times last year, he isn't a good defender, especially for his body frame and athleticism. Should be much better.
Of course I do, why else would I bring them up? It's points each player allows per 100 possessions. But that's only the glossary term, it needs to be applied with more subtlety.

The better question is, DO YOU? Do you know what subtlety needs to be accounted for?

    54%TSP Gay 73gm

    58% TSP Wade 54gm

I don't know what the average is so how can I compare players? What I do know is that Wade has made and still occasionally makes impact plays on the defensive side of the ball. Whether it be steals or timely blocks which he leads all guards in.

Interesting. I just went to look at the Defensive Rating stats, and Carmelo gets ridiculed for his defense and hes at a 108 this year, 107 for his career.
Lebron was at a 105 this year, 102 for his career. One is a 1st or 2nd team all defense player year in and out and one is considered to be "god awful" lol

He shot 45% from the field, 10 points lower than Wade did. So a 6'8'' in his athletic prime stud shot 10 percent lower than an old not elite 6'4'' 2 guard.

That right there lets you know that stat means nothing. Lebron is ten times the defender that Melo is, any human eye can catch that.

That's because Lebron WAS bad on defense this year. Not bad in terms of ability, bad in terms of effort.

TSP is total shooting percentage, which is the more accepted number. But sure pick in choose what you want to follow.

Also you'll need to factor in the fact that Wade was well rested each game, and factor in the fact he's playing with the best basketball player in the world. He's obviously going to get more open looks/more one on one coverage.
  • KB0938
    The notable ones were

Lebron . Defensive plays in isolation with .86 points per play
Melo Defensive plays in isolation with .64 points per play

Lebron defensive plays in the post with .82 points per play
Melo defensive plays in the post with .59 points per play

Yeah, and he got 2nd team all defense lol. Pretty much off reputation.

True shooting percentage includes 3 point shooting right? Wade isn't a three point shooter and doesn't take many. Wade's game is mostly one on one so he is creating those shots/opportunities by himself largely.

Obviously Lebron is a better defender on the wing. But hes not much better if at all in the post, and Melo doesnt go out there and do a Steve Nash or James Harden impersonation
Lebron is a much better defender everywhere, any position. Not close. Wish we would see some more effort from Melo on that end, always thought he could do/be more.

Includes all shooting metrics, which would better show they efficency of a player.

I think its safe to say that there would be an argument for Wade being better than Gay, but it isn't like he's blowing him out of the water. It's close.

You might wanna go back to watching soccer, this basketball thing isn't for you.

What does Wade not shooting three's have to do with using true shooting percentage? I would LOVE to hear this logic....

lol this shit is getting beyond ridiculous. However this pretty much proves he's not coming to Cleveland so I hope the idiots will STFU about it.

Wade is 4% better and 4" shorter with not nearly the athleticism. Rudy Gay isn't a winner either, Wade is, which factors in.

Doc has said that Griffin is untouchable. Who knows if that is true or not, but it's been said.
