Starting to look and feel like the good days at the stadium.
It took dollar dog, fireworks, trucker cap, and replacement tickets from the 3 am game...but there was probably 30some thousand there last night -

HitsRusall's well that ends well...and as Royal K noted...a lot of fun. But the Tribe has needed late inning heroics in all 3 games against the hollowed out White Sox, and its defensive miscues continue. They will need to play a lot better than that against the Tigers when they visit Progressive Field next week.
Last night's faux paux, although it didn't show up in the box score, was an almost mindless attempt by Michael Bourn to cut down Alexi Ramirez at the plate who scored the Sox 2nd run on a Rios single. Worse, they failed to cut the throw, and Rios (the tieing run) moved into scoring position on the throw. Rios then scored on a dribbling single by Dunn. Just like that, the ChiSox had tied the score after being dominated by the Indians early.
Meanwhile, the manager must have been sleeping in the clubhouse. While the White Sox were stringing together successive 2 out hits, it wasn't till after the game was tied that a coaching visit was made to the mound.
Another managerial head scratcher came in the ninth when the Sox plated 2 runs. With the game tied at 3, and Kluber pretty well cruising, Tito pulls him with 2 out in ninth after the The Sox get a runner to first. Really? ...the guy has pitched 8 2/3 innings and deserves to get a shot at a win, not have his game trashed by a releiver. It did not look like Kluber was struggling or tired. -

This. I was literally screaming 'what the hell are you doing' as he was making this move. Short of Kluber saying "I'm finished", leave him in there....and fwiw, Reynolds gives us nothing, absolutely nothing.HitsRus;1481091 wrote:

royal_kCan't comment on the removal of Kluber, cause I didn't see it. But it does sound like he should have finished.
And right now Reynolds is useless at the plate. He has been since may. Just have to keep hoping for one of his good streaks. But you can't keep running him out there when the games are really starting to be important. Especially with the way Rayburn and Avilas have come through. Rayburn would be starting somewhere on a lot of teams. -
ohiobucks1I think IMO the best plan would be to play Swish at RF, Santana at 1st and Gomes behind the plate
-
royal_kI saw a stat somewhere that said Rayburn, Avilas, Gomes, and Giambi together have averaged an RBI every 6 plate appearances. That would be the 14th best average in all of baseball. That's a hell of a bench.

I was sitting in section 103 and Bourn's throw appeared to be perfect...but Im guessing Santana didn't call the cut, because when he let it go the runner broke for second and I told my wife, we got him...the ball sailed inches over the cut mans head. It was exactly where you are taught to throw it in that situation, its on the catcher to call cut though.HitsRus;1481091 wrote:all's well that ends well...and as Royal K noted...a lot of fun. Another thing I noticed, I am better at judging fly balls than Stubbs...but hes 6'4" and fast as shit so he makes up for it. -
Dan GilbertI am a fan of Raburn/Swisher/Santana/Gomes in the lineup at the same time.
-
royal_knice to see Reynolds in the line up today

Reynolds with an RBI single 1-0. -
vball10setfwiw, don't like this batting order...GO TRIBE!!!
-
TBone14It would be nice if we could put a couple crooked numbers up for JM but that isn't likely. There is his run for today. Go make it hold up.

Dan Gilbert
I am okay with it. I'd probably flip Brantley and Raburn.vball10set;1481322 wrote:fwiw, don't like this batting order...GO TRIBE!!! -

I especially don't like Stubbs leading off...he's been doing just fine in the 9 hole.Dan Gilbert;1481329 wrote:I am okay with it. I'd probably flip Brantley and Raburn. -

With Bourn out, he's really our best choice. And he has 2 hits todayvball10set;1481360 wrote:I especially don't like Stubbs leading off...he's been doing just fine in the 9 hole. -
Dan GilbertBack to back singles by Stubbs and Swisher.
Raburn hits it to 3rd, may be an error, to drive in Stubbs.
4-0. -
Dan GilbertCabrera smoked one deep to center on the warning track to drive in Swisher.
5-0 -

TBone14I said it last night and I'll say it again. That loss had to be deflating to Chicago. They had quit already but look extra woeful today.
Problem is...we need them to snap out of it. I think two of the next 4 series Detroit has are with Chicago.
