White Sox at the Tribe series thread

  • royal_k
Chicago comes to town for a 4 game series, after losing 7 of their last 10. A lot of rumors swirling around about players being traded. (Rios and Peavy to name a couple) This a series the Tribe needs to and should win.

    pitching matchups

    Danks 2-8 4.81 vs McAllister 4-6 3.57
    Peavy 8-4 4.28 vs Kazmir 6-4 3.96
    Quintana 5-3 3.55 vs Kluber 7-5 3.74
    Sale 6-10 2.69 vs Masterson 12-7 3.42

    Fuck this team! Go browns

4 out of 5 of your pitching rotation has eras under 4. With ubaldo at 4.17. Pretty damn impressive

And Peavy is very likely to be gone.

But, it would be just like Cleveland to have him pitch that day and be traded on the deadline...the next day.

Probably to a team we have to play 7 more times and he will throw in 3 of those games lol.

Dunner will hit 2 home runs and strike out 7 times.

That sounds pretty Dunn-ish versus the Tribe.

The White Sox compete for the worst team award.

    Entering 1987? Nolan Ryan territory

To be frank....I'm a little worried about this series. Sometimes it seems they play to the level of their competition.

The Tigers have traded for Astros closer Jose Veras. Veras has 19 saves and a 2.93 ERA on the season.

I expect another sweep. Pitching sucks and our bats have gone silent.

That was when he was like 8-16 with a 2.8 ERA, wasn't it? A LOLAstros year to rival their current era of futility.

Hard to ever expect a sweep (esp in a 4 game series)...but it would be nice. 3 of 4 is important.

Yeah 8-16 but lead the league in ERA 2.76 and lead the league in strikeouts with 270.

    He was 40 years old.

Good call....he ended up 9-11 but lead league in ERA at 2.86, only 146 K though

well, you knew they were going to have to do something about their closer role. Unfortunately for the Tribe, there's not one spot that can be upgraded that makes a big difference.

Worse, it appears that it didn't cost them a lot.

Disagree. I think the #4 ranked prospect in an organization is a pretty steep price to pay for a reliever.

...not a reliever...a closer. And it was only one guy at A level.
