Why is it a bad trade for the bucks. I think its really good, they got two pics out of a guy who was leaving anyways

The San Antonio Spurs have been listed as a possible landing spot for Greg Oden, however they're probably out of the mix after coming to terms withTiago Splitter.

From Dan McCarney of the San Antonio Express-News: "The Oden rumors are intriguing and all, but with Tim Duncan, Splitter, Boris Diaw and Aron Baynes all on board, all that history, I just don't see the need."

While a bunch of teams have been mentioned, Oden will likely chose to sign with either theCleveland Cavaliers or Miami Heat.

Great news for the Cavs. Oden would be a great get as he has a lot of potential but his price tag will be low. I would enjoy being able to watch him play again assuming he is able to shake the injury curse.

Agreed 100%. Cheap and if he stays healthy could be an all star... He wont stay healthy, but even half a season with him could propel us and keep Andy healthier.

9 mill a year for Thiago Splitter? Hard to second guess the Spurs but that seems like way too much.

Seems like it could come down to deciding between the Cavs and Heat for Oden.

Who knows, but did he consult Rick Pitino first? I remember when he left a cushy gig for the Celtics...

Brad Stevens can coach his ass off but can he manage NBA egos? Will players respect him enough for it to matter?
  • Crimson streak
I really didn't see that coming at all

    He definitely can.

For the past week all I kept hearing was Celtics were high on Brett Brown, a coach on the Spurs staff.... This Brad Stevens situation came out of nowhere, Interesting to see how this works. I guess if we're going in rebuilding mode they might as well start w/ someone new as well
  • Azubuike24
Here's the thing. The Celts now probably look to completely gut the roster of anything valuable. Rondo goes on the block. They start stocking picks for next year, allowing them to add 4 or 5 guys in the draft. Stevens, given the situation, will not at ALL be judged on W/L record until 2015 at the earliest. He will basically get 2 years of an excuse to be terrible, adapt to the NBA game and is probably going to be making 4-6M a year doing so. Knowing that if he completely falls on his face, he can return to college (ala Calipari, Pitino, Saban, Spurrier) and rise to the very top again, how could he pass up the offer?

I really really doubt it. Can you picture Stevens coaching Rondo? I sure can't.
