And just lost it on a garbage dribbler down the first base line when Lucas Duda (playing out of position at first base) didn't cover the bag. UGHHHH. He has been dominant though, and I can't wait to watch Zack Wheeler's debut tonight (who is supposedly better than Harvey, according to scouts).Midstate01;1459466 wrote:Matt Harvey has a no no through 6 against ATL. karen lotzDamn if Gee didn't give up that walk off to Freeman last night Mets would be looking at a five game sweep.

Azubuike24The Mets suck.
Gee had the Braves all night and literally had one bad at-bat.
Why did Alex Wood only go 3 innings? Injury? -

I didn't watch any of it but looking at the box score, I'd assume it was a combination of him not having very good control and his having been in the pen for a while now. He hasn't been stretched out for a few weeks now and today was his first career start. Beachy was supposed to have made his first start of the season coming off Tommy John surgery, but he had a little soreness after his final rehab start last week and Wood was the best option to fill in. -

Not a bad start for the kid! 6 Innings, 0 runs, 7 Ks and his first MLB win!BigAppleBuckeye;1459481 wrote:I can't wait to watch Zack Wheeler's debut tonight (who is supposedly better than Harvey, according to scouts).
Way to go out on a limb! Who's your team again, the team who has been to one World Series since '77 (the Reds) or the team who hasn't won a title since '48 (the Indians)?Azubuike24;1459537 wrote:The Mets suck. -

No the team that has won 3 since 1975....going to the World Series isn't a very big deal compared to winning it. The Mets have 1? Took a slow roller through a 20 year vets legs to get it. -

Two words ... Al Leiter. Still bitter about that one-game playoff I see?Ironman92;1460067 wrote:No the team that has won 3 since 1975....going to the World Series isn't a very big deal compared to winning it. The Mets have 1? Took a slow roller through a 20 year vets legs to get it.
And come on Ironman, as a baseball fan you know that Buckner game was tied when the error happened -- that didn't win the Mets the game. Also, the Mets have two titles overall if we are going back in time ... remember the Miracle Mets of '69? .... -

Al Leiter was one of my favorite pitchers....the Reds didn't get it done.....and in the WS the Mets didn't get it done.
Go back to 69 if you must

This would be a better zinger if the Mets went to the World Series the year Leiter beat the Reds, which they did not (the Braves beat the Mets in the NLCS). The Mets went to the Series the following year against the Yankees.Ironman92;1460140 wrote:Al Leiter was one of my favorite pitchers....the Reds didn't get it done.....and in the WS the Mets didn't get it done.

For the record, I don't dislike the Reds in the slightest -- just making a point that the Reds and Indians haven't exactly been the league juggernauts themselves. Yes, I fully recognize that the Mets blow balls right now ... but with Wheeler, Harvey and Wright, with d'Arnaud's call-up coming soon, and with tons of cash coming off the books in the offseason, I finally like our long-term prognosis (which I couldn't say a couple years ago). -
HereticIf anyone's interested, it looks like the Greatest Powerhouse Squad In Sports History is on the verge of dropping 2/3 at home to Baltimore barring a complete Orioles collapse over the final three innings.

LOL, why are you getting Cleveland fans involved? I don't think I have ever seen anyone here claim the indians are a juggernaut.BigAppleBuckeye;1460191 wrote:This would be a better zinger if the Mets went to the World Series the year Leiter beat the Reds, which they did not (the Braves beat the Mets in the NLCS). IggyPride00Cabrerra is starting to heat up again after his version of a slump.
4-4 tonight with 2 bombs.
Average is back up to .377.
He is on pace currently for 50/168/.377.
The guy is insane to have that kind of batting average with those kind of power numbers. -

I think he'll go to the Orioles and DH. -
IggyPride00After his 4 hit game yesterday, Yasiel Puig has 44 hits in his first 101 AB's, good for a .436 average.
That is about as quick a start as I can ever remember any rookie having. It is crazy how productive this guy is.
That stat was he collected more hits in his first calendar month than anyone since Joe Dimaggio had 48 in May 1936.
Anytime you're on a list with the Yankee Clipper you have done good. -
