Justin Upton declined trade to Mariners. Would prefer Rangers and Braves who are also interested.
I would like Upton, bit Seattle would have be giving up LHP Charlie Furbush(been in league a while), RHP Steven Pryor( came up last year, throws HARD and did decent out of bullpen), SS Nick Franklin(top position player in minors), and one of their top three pitching prospects. I would hope there were Diamondbacks prospects involved. Seattle has great pitching in the minors so it might have been ok. I just would hate to lose Franklin AND one of our big three(hultzen, walker, and paxton) -

BALTIMORE — Earl Weaver, the fiery Hall of Fame manager who won 1,480 games with the Baltimore Orioles, has died, the team says. He was 82.
The Duke of Earl, as he was affectionately known in Baltimore, took the Orioles into the World Series four times over 17 seasons but won only one title, in 1970. His .583 winning percentage ranks fifth among managers who served 10 or more seasons in the 20th century.
Weaver was a salty-tounged manager who preferred to wait for a three-run homer rather than manufacture a run with a stolen base or a bunt. While some baseball purists argued that strategy, no one could dispute the results. -

The very first major league game I went to was in Crosley field and before the game it was my impression that Stan Musial nearly stepped on my hand with his cleats. We had box seats right along the concrete walkway thru the stands behind the Cardinal dugout that the visiting players walked on from the clubhouse to the dugout. I was watching activities on the field with my right arm resting on the concrete walkway. I heard the sound of steel cleats crunching on the concrete and looked up and saw Stan the Man just passing by above me. I remember thinking he couldn't have missed my hand by much! I think that might have been when I was 9 in 1960. The only other things I remember about that day was I thought that Stan was such a great hitter, why does he stand up there with such a wierd stance? And my parents telling be we'd be up late and that I needed to take a nap. I rolled around in my bed all afternoon and didn't get a wink of sleep. Regular night games then started at 8:05, and there was no daylight savings time.xKoToVxSyNdRoMe;1370045 wrote:Stan Musial also died today at the age of 92.
In those games there were no sophisticated rules for our youth baseball, like you can only bat around once per inning. Our team was pretty bad. In our first game that year we were at home, and I was one of three pitchers in the first inning, as I also played SS, 3B, and 1B in the inning as our coah tried many moves to no avail. We never got thru the first half inning and the game was called for darkness with the score being 27-0. -

Damn....I gotta jump on that.
What will it cost? I gotta tighten up my connections.....and start a savings fund for this. -
wildcats20I'm sure it will be a fortune.

Ironman92I have about $200 in change in the closet I'll start with. I have a side job of teaching at a correctional facility and will be running two youth leagues for the city....
I'll get a nice amount saved. You know they are going to have a great "honoring" of something before the game. The game and all the festivities the day before is the goal for my family of 4 and Dad/wife.
Saving for decent seats for 6 and maybe the HR Derby...though I know it's outrageous. Baseball is my thing and would love to go myself and treat my son and Dad especially. -

Around $3500 for 4 pretty good HR Derby seats and 6 pretty good ASG seats. -

I'd tell my wife/daughter they should plan a cooking class that day.Ironman92;1371675 wrote:Around $3500 for 4 pretty good HR Derby seats and 6 pretty good ASG seats. -
Ironman92It looks like it'll take around $800 for a pretty decent seat in the ASG, HR Derby and also a FanFest ticket.
$800 for all...not each.
The HR Derby isn't as bad as I was thinking. Fuck sitting in the SunDeck and getting the hell beat out of you....plus those are prolly $1500 seats. -

hasbeenTop 10 RHP Prospects:
http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130121&content_id=41037368&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb
Mariners have Walker at #2(#8 in '12). I don't expect to see him for at least another season. He's still a teenage, but it's exciting knowing we have him(to go along with the probable 2 top 10 LHP prospects Hultzen and Paxton).
Indians have Bauer at #7. Mets and Pirates both have two guys mentioned. -
Classyposter58Do not miss this game Reds fans! My mother works for a big time hotel in Detroit and has some awesome connections, anyways we were able to score tix for the Derby and Game. It was seriously awesome

He may be better....but Prado can be more valuable. Upton has a higher ceiling, but I trust Prado more.....but without Bourn, Upton is more needed.
