One return, one touchdown. Benjamin's batting .1000.bases_loaded;1374359 wrote:This times 1000. The last owner was an idiot to collapse to fan pressure and overpay him. Returners can always be found. Trindan Holliday was probably smoking weed playing Xbox for a year and look what he did this year. Plus Benjamin is more than able. -

This hire just doesn't make sense. I can't think of many players on the defense that actually fit the 3-4 scheme. It also makes part of our last draft useless now. WTF are we going to do with all these linemen? -

The transition to a 3-4 won't be difficult. They have the D-Line. They just need the pass rushing OLB's, a ball hawking safety and another corner. Not much different than what they needed to fill out the pieces of the 4-3.like_that;1374384 wrote:http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2013/01/cleveland_browns_defensive_coo_10.html

I will say that some of these D-Linemen (Sheard...although possible he'll transition to OLB?) may be expendable.
I'm warming up to the addition of Horton because he'll run an attack/blitzing defense. Jauron's defense was anything but aggressive. -

For a team that sucks at stoping the run, a 3-4 will do nothing to improve that.BR1986FB;1374387 wrote:The transition to a 3-4 won't be difficult. They have the D-Line. If they get the right personnel it will. Seems to have worked for the Steelers for years.like_that;1374391 wrote:For a team that sucks at stoping the run, a 3-4 will do nothing to improve that.
I'm not a proponent of the 3-4 but I do want to see how it's run by a Dick Lebeau disciple. So far we've had Mangini & Crennel, with their coordinators, running it. I want to see how someone who was trained by the Master runs it. -

I am just saying they had more of a personnel for the 4-3. I think they are many pieces away to get the right personnel for a 3-4. I could be wrong though.BR1986FB;1374394 wrote:If they get the right personnel it will. Seems to have worked for the Steelers for years.

Not really. Two linebackers, a corner and a safety to fill out the 3-4. They needed a pass rushing DE, a corner and a safety to fill out the 4-3. Only one more piece.like_that;1374397 wrote:I am just saying they had more of a personnel for the 4-3. I think they are many pieces away to get the right personnel for a 3-4. You are not factoring in that we had enough guys on the D-line for a rotation. What the hell is the point of the d-line depth when most of those guys are going to be useless now in a 3-4? Also finding two pass rushing linebackers is going to be tougher than getting one pass rushing DE in this draft.BR1986FB;1374400 wrote:Not really. Yes, I'm factoring that in. Finding the pass rushing OLB's won't be simple but that's what these clowns are paid for. Earn your money, Lombardi. Nothing about this bolded part makes me optimistic lol.BR1986FB;1374411 wrote:Yes, I'm factoring that in. Finding the pass rushing OLB's won't be simple but that's what these clowns are paid for. Earn your money, Lombardi. LOL -

I'm far from optimistic, right now. That could change if they actually do SOMETHING in free agency this year.like_that;1374414 wrote:Nothing about this bolded part makes me optimistic lol. -
se-alumI don't see going to the 3-4 being a terribly hard transition.

What is on your wish list for FA? I want them to resign certain players currently on the team (i.e. Haden), so whatever they do, they can't purge all the funds.BR1986FB;1374419 wrote:I'm far from optimistic, right now. That could change if they actually do SOMETHING in free agency this year.
Why?se-alum;1374420 wrote:I don't see going to the 3-4 being a terribly hard transition. -

Right now, my main "wishlist" (assuming they make the market) would be Jarius Byrd (S-Bills) and Andy Levitre (G-Bills).like_that;1374422 wrote:What is on your wish list for FA? I'd also be pleased if they signed Geoff Schwartz (G-Vikings and Mitchell's brother) to play next to him.
Not that he'll hit the market but, if they were to add a veteran WR, I'd snag Dwayne Bowe. Bowe along with Gordon & Little would be lethal. He's the only WR I'd want in free agency, including Mike Wallace (drop issues) & Greg Jennings (not a true #1) -
SonofanumpConfused more than ever. So can Taylor and Sheard play in a 3-4?
-
BR1986FB
Sheard, perhaps. Taylor, definitely. Rubin will play NT and Taylor will be a DE. I mentioned this previously that Taylor's size/athleticism has been compared to Haloti Ngata. He'll be able to play the position.Sonofanump;1374430 wrote:Confused more than ever. So can Taylor and Sheard play in a 3-4? -

I'd be down with any of those guys, especially Schwartz. Not sure if I would want to overspend with one of the WRs though.BR1986FB;1374429 wrote:Right now, my main "wishlist" (assuming they make the market) would be Jarius Byrd (S-Bills) and Andy Levitre (G-Bills).

See, I just can't picture Phil being a DE. He has DT written all over him.BR1986FB;1374433 wrote:Sheard, perhaps. Taylor, definitely. Rubin will play NT and Taylor will be a DE. The top of the draft will be full of excellent DE/OLB talent. -

Been reading up on this and most stuff I've seen seems to believe that Taylor will transition perfectly.like_that;1374435 wrote:See, I just can't picture Phil being a DE. He has DT written all over him.
Keep in mind, most 3-4 DE's are bigger/bulkier guys to eat up blockers for the LB's to swoop in and make tackles. Taylor fits this bill plus he's athletic which is a huge bonus. -
