As a steelers fan....I dont want to see Chud get his way with player personnel. I think he will do a great job, and when he was the OC before he had them moving up until they had to purge guys.
I see the browns getting better and surpassing the steelers if they let the personnel guys do their thing. -

Yea, the return of Hoyer and Lewis could be pretty big for this team next year. Any updates on Hoyer's recovery?like_that;1552021 wrote:Agreed. Only complaint so far is giving up on Rainey so quickly, but I have said it numerous times, RBs are dime a dozen and I think they find a productive back this offseason. Let's not forget Dion Lewis will return. This offense was missing a speedy back that catches balls out of the backfield. -
thavoiceHoyer was a nice addition to this offense before his injury, but I think that the browns would be making a bad move by putting the future of this offense on his shoulders if there is still a highly rated QB to be drafted. I guess they could wait until the next draft since a couple coming out then may be good, but how long can the team afford to not have a QB?

I think the optimal route is the more traditional route and not the rookie-centric trend we've seen lately. I think best case scenario is we draft a great QB prospect, have him sit behind Hoyer until he either stops being effective or his contract runs out and hand over the reins. Chud is supposedly a QB guy, so I would love to see a prospect groomed for a year or two so he can come in and kick ass, ala Aaron Rodgers. -
MulvaI think I would trade the colts pick for rgIII, but with the injury risk it's a very tough call.

The Browns most definitely need to draft a QB this year who can compete w/ Hoyer for the starting job, but Hoyer is a good enough insurance plan to not have to reach for a QB. I would prefer that pick to be the 2nd first rounder or the 1st 2nd rounder, unless we are high enough to get Bridgewater(or Bortles if he comes out).thavoice;1552057 wrote:Hoyer was a nice addition to this offense before his injury, but I think that the browns would be making a bad move by putting the future of this offense on his shoulders if there is still a highly rated QB to be drafted. I would say second round only if one of the better QB's slip for whatever reason on draft day. They dont need to get a second teir guy, they need a top flight draft prospect. They just shouldnt draft a QB in the second round unless they believe he is going to be the franchise.se-alum;1552148 wrote:The Browns most definitely need to draft a QB this year who can compete w/ Hoyer for the starting job. You have two picks in the first round...get a top flight QB with that pick. The browns should be done with fucking around with the QB position, and browns fans should be fed up with it as well. -

I'm just not sure that top flight guy is out there, after Bridgewater. Bortles and Hundley may or may not declare. Then you have Manziel, Boyd, and Carr. After that, it's a crap shoot. I don't like Mettenberger or Hogan at all. You have Murray coming off an ACL. I would say this is a deep QB class, but no standouts after Teddy.thavoice;1552151 wrote:I would say second round only if one of the better QB's slip for whatever reason on draft day. Laley23If I'm the Browns I target Bortles and Bridgewater. The get whatever position you feel needs the most improvement with the second #1

I know I've said it on here before but I'm throwing my hat in the ring for Manziel too (in that group with Bortles and TBW, I like all 3). -

I just don't think he's the franchise qb....that is all. I suspect if Kelly can get a 1st rounder (+ whatever) he would do it.
Maybe I'm wrong but it does not make me a moron....jeez. -

I don't agree or disagree with any of that.....just didn't know if you were taking that if you lost as a real thing you don't want as an avatar or if you were just making light of his second place finish.said_aouita;1552270 wrote:yup.

I'm fairly certain I was called a homer on here before that 2012 draft because I said I thought Foles was going to be awesome. -

He's been unbelievable....but I don't know how much of it is Chip's new system....plus McCoy has been MVPish as well. But you could argue McCoy has benefitted from Foles and the system as well.lhslep134;1552282 wrote:I'm fairly certain I was called a homer on here before that 2012 draft because I said I thought Foles was going to be awesome. -

A good QB needs a good system to thrive, and vice versa. I don't think it's "either Foles or Kelly", it's both. Great match for the Eagles.Ironman92;1552287 wrote:He's been unbelievable....but I don't know how much of it is Chip's new system. -

LOL did I hurt your feelz mr. high school fapper? Also, nice edit, I saw your "you're an idiot if you think foles is the type of QB that kelly wants for his offense" post, before your edit. Let's look at the facts and determine if you are a moron or not.
-Kelly's offense has not been the same as his offenses at Oregon.
-If he wanted a QB that more fit his scheme, don't you think he would have benched foles for vick by now dumbass?
-Again, Fole's ratios is 20-1. Do you know what that means? Based on your high lack of knowledge I doubt you do. It means he has 20 TDs and 1 int. For every interception he throws, he throws 20 TDs...
-Now keep that stat in mind and add the fact he is leading the eagles to the playoffs after they had a shitty start to the season.
-Now keep in mind the Browns might be anywhere from the 5th-10th pick. Think of the QBs that are coming out in the draft. Which QB will fall to that pick and fit in Kelly's scheme? Mariotta already said he isn't declaring for the draft. You may argue Manziel, but he isn't a kelly QB, nor may he even fall that far.
So, yes you are a fucking moron to think the Eagles will trade their current QB who is doing very well, for a chance to pick in the top 10, but not a guarantee to get their guy. Not even sure why I am debating this. You are the same dumb fuck who has RG3's penis in your mouth. How has that trade worked out for the skins? Bet they would like that #2 overall pick (maybe #1 by the end of the season). -

shook_17I would consider RGIII for the Colts 1st round pick. Not saying I would do it, but I would definitely consider it. When healthy he just has to be smart, when to slide and when to continue to run. I do like Bortles from UCF. Saw he was drawing some comparasions to Big Ben. IF we don't make a trade for RGIII if he was available I'd go qb with our first pick and a wide out with our second. It would be great to get Mike Evans to team up with Gordon, that would be a deadly combo. Or even Marqius Lee. Im not sure on FA wide outs this year.
I mean lets be honest this team is very close to competing for this division title. Just a few pieces away.
Also I really think TJ Ward needs to be resigned in the off season along with Joe Haden. I don't see Mack being resigned though. -
lhslep134That was entertaining. While looking on the 2012 Browns thread for what I said about Foles going into the draft, I came across the incredibly dumb footwedge and percentile stuff. That was a good laugh.
Anyways, here's what I said
lhslep134;1098647 wrote:This will probably come off as bias but anyone who has actually watched him play compared to Tannehill and Osweiler will probably agree.
I think after Luck and RGIII the next best quarterback is arguably Nick Foles. Threw for 4300 yards completing 69% of his passes (and he threw a LOT, we were terrible and couldn't run at all). I really think he could drop to the beginning of the 2nd round. I really wouldn't mind using picks 4/22 (or trading down for more picks) to improve the team and then take Foles.
Also, kudos to a lot of other posters on here who thought Foles was going to be good too. We had a pretty good analysis of the 2012 draft class (thus far). -

Good call so far.
