2013 Cleveland Browns Thread: RIP Chud

Commander of AwesomeMatt Miller ‏@nfldraftscout 1m From their two picks in the first round of the 2012 NFL draft, the #Browns now have a future pick and Brandon Weeden. #scouting
Phil Savage ‏@SeniorBowlPhil 54s IMO, the Trent Richardson trade after wk 2 is more "stunning" than the Charlie Frye trade after wk 1 in '07. Has to be more to story. -
Pick6
Bess, Groves, Lewis, Bryant, Kruger..im sure im forgetting some worth mentioning, and realize not all of them were brought in via free agency, but in just 1 year it seems they have brought in better players than Holmgren ever did (my memory sucks, so I could be wrong).IggyPride00;1503242 wrote:Yeah right. They have the Dolan mentality as far as spending as little as possible to pad the bottom line.
That is why we have a professional account making all roster decisions instead of a real football guy.
It is by design. -

We lead the league in cap room. Instead of spending it on players to help the team it goes to Jimmy's pockets.Pick6;1503246 wrote:Bess, Groves, Lewis, Bryant, Kruger..im sure im forgetting some worth mentioning, and realize not all of them were brought in via free agency, but in just 1 year it seems they have brought in better players than Holmgren ever did (my memory sucks, so I could be wrong). -

wes_mantoothThis organization bringing the lulz. They call me every two days trying to sell me season tickets...I feel bad for the poor sap that tries tomorrow. On a positive note, the muni should bring the lulz with some creative jersey modifications.

Not sure Richardson has ever proven himself to be a playmaker of any kind.royal_k;1503241 wrote:I'm just not understanding how you can justify trading one of your best players 2 games into the season for a future draft pick. If it was for a proven QB or something of that nature it would be a lot easier to understand. They now have 1 playmaker on the entire team. -
MulvaShocked, but love the move. Even more shocked that someone gave up a 1st round pick for him.

Honestly, I can't believe they got a 1st round pick for Richardson. Most teams wont take RBs in 1st rd and he has injury history #Browns

Telling stat: Richardson at Baltimore, 39 snaps. Ogbonnaya, 33 snaps. #FreshBrownies

Best comment I saw on the OBR about this management team and the unprecedented throwing of a season only 2 games old.Yep, didn't you guys already see how Haslam treats his paying customers? This is like his rebate scam, get your money then pull the rug out from under you.
Haslam/Banner/Lombardi are the 3 headed monster sucking the like out of Browns fans. -
Pick6@RavensInsider Trent Richardson didn't mesh well with Rob Chudzinski, lobbied for carries, had bit of a diva attitude, per a source close to situation
-
IggyPride00Trent has been a disappointment so far for the most part.
I am very interested to see what he does with Indy.
If he starts to produce at the level many thought he would for us, it is a direct indictment of this organization for not using him properly.
If he doesn't pick it up, then it was a great trade as he is an average back and you got a 1st round pick.
If Trent starts piling up all purpose yards in Indy, they are likely winning games and then the fans here are going to be pissed as it pushes that 1st rounder back further and shows we can't identify and properly use talent. That is the biggest risk Banner/Lombardi face as it would call their judgement into question, or confirm them as geniuses if it goes the other way.
I will give them credit for having a brass set, because they are setting themselves up to be run out of town if T-Rich looks like a different player with the Colts. -
I Wear PantsWeeden is so bad that another team actually picked off one of their players.
-
Mr MiyagiYou gotta wonder when Joe Thomas throws in the towel and "volunteers" to go somewhere he can win a playoff game.
-
Pick6@getnickwright 2m 298 carries for Richardson, 3 have gone for 15+ yards. Y'all haven't seen him since college. Back to NFL Rewind for me, talk to you at 6am.
-
Midstate01Id trade thomas right now. He's getting older and gets beat more now then he ever has. His stock will only go down. Trade him while he's worth picks.
-
Pick6Might as well get rid of Weeden as well, that is if you can still get a pick out of him.

Yeah, I actually agree at this point.Midstate01;1503274 wrote:Id trade thomas right now. He's getting older and gets beat more now then he ever has. His stock will only go down. Trade him while he's worth picks.
We are 2-3 years away from anything resembling competing, and by that point he will be on the wrong side of 30 with alot of wear on his tires. They are already planning to replace the center, guards and possibly RT, so what difference does it make at this point keeping him around.
Get what you can now that we know it is a 5 year rebuild and move on. -
wes_mantooth
Honestly, i doubt you could get anything for him. He has less value than Colt did because of his age.Pick6;1503276 wrote:Might as well get rid of Weeden as well, that is if you can still get a pick out of him. -
AutomatikThis is shocking. My roommates are losing their shit right now.
Gotta be more to the story. I don't understand how you bail on him this early. They traded up to get him, he battled through injuries last season, then you dump him after 2 games? Something has to be up. -
IggyPride00
Every team knows he will be released at the end of the year. Maybe someone gives a 7th rounder, but that is all.Pick6;1503276 wrote:Might as well get rid of Weeden as well, that is if you can still get a pick out of him. -
Pick6the fan is absolutely hilarious right now. a caller just said "i have never felt a tank in cleveland"

Heckert traded up to get him, not Joe Banner.Automatik;1503280 wrote:This is shocking. My roommates are losing their shit right now.

They don't care about any of Heckert's guys, and frankly wouldn't want any of them succeeding anyway. These guys are known around the league as being terribly petty and ego driven, and they want to make sure it is all their picks and acquisitions responsible for the turn-around if it ever happens.
