Bay is very white...even for a Canadian.

I think Shawn Green and Jerome Walton are both available.

I'm actually hoping we can trade Cabrera. Especially with Lindor coming up in a year or 2. We can get some young pitching and try to contend on a year or 2 or 3 or never

Guys at KNR seem to think it is pretty much a done deal that he will be gone. I am ok with him shipping out...he is the only player I know that gets fatter as the season goes on.

I've also heard they are talking to Swisher. I would actually like that move. Too bad it won't happen.

If its true that the d-backs were offering any of their big prospects the Indians would be stupid to turn it down. They have. 3 out of the 10 best pitching prospects in the majors. I think the d- backs are holding out to try and swing a deal for cliff lee also while giving up upton. I did see upton took the tribe off his no trade clause

THere is no way they can afford Swisher.

I think he is going to get like $70-80 million over 5-6 years. That is way too rich for the Dolan's blood.

Love the talk of a Jason Bay signing though. That is the quintessential Mark Shapiro/Chris Antonetti signing.

What is mind boggling about the Dolan's is that their ass puckers up tight enough to turn coal into diamonds when it comes to spending on players that can help, but they have no problem essentially dumping a bag of money in a burning fire every year with these ridiculous veteran signings.

They would be better off just standing outside Jacobs field and passing out the cash then giving it to the Damon's and Bays of the world every year.

He's looking for like $14 million a year over 5 years. Whether he gets that I don't know, but looking at some of the contracts other guys have gotten at his age (32) and his production it is actually in the ballpark.

If Victorino/Pagan is worth $10 million a year, then that on paper at least is reasonable.

Before anyone says a change a scenery will do him good, let me say this: he is the worst MLB player I have seen in a long, long time. Just a shell of his former self.

Just wanted to remind the Tribe fans, in case you didn't fully read my earlier message ...

The Dolan's already have that all figured out.

They are going to tell us how great Bay was for Terry Francona in Boston, and that re-uniting with him is going to resurrect his career.

When you are a penny pinching miser like our owner, you always have an angle to play no matter the circumstance.

We "lost out" on Jason Bay. He signed with the Mariners.

Good...now we should be the frontrunners for Josh Hamilton.

All you'll need to get Hamilton will be for him to have a major heroin incident in the next month to drive away the other suitors.

Tribe grabs Chris McGuiness from the Rangers in the rule 5 draft. McGuiness is a first baseman that batted .268 in AA ball last year... .366 OBP and .474 slugging percentage. He bats (ahem)from the LEFT side.

On the other side of the draft...the Tribe lost Hector Rondon who was coming off of arm surgery(minor ouch). Much worse...the team lost T.J. McFarland, a left handed starter that compliled a 16-8 record split between Akron and Columbus. .405 ERA ...96 strikeouts against 45 walks.:(.

FSN buying STO from Dolan for roughly $230M, of which not a single cent will go toward the team

Oh, brother. I really liked STO, particularly All Bets Are Off, Chuck's Last Call and all of the Browns' stuff. If FSN is running it the only local content will be the games themselves. Kiss high school sports goodbye as well.

Time Warner is launching a station out of the Dayton/Columbus area (well its launched...but really raw still). They put on a TERRIBLE product in comparison to my company, but then again, we are better than STO for HS sports. I would expect them to quickly rise though, because they have 1000000x more resources and expenses to put forth into expanding the company. Id assume they will try to break into the Cleveland area soon. They have kind of tried NWO, but BCSN pretty much has that on lock for the moment.
  • ts1227
There is a possibility that STO still exists more as a "FSN Ohio 2", because if this goes through they will have Indians, Reds, Cavs, Blue Jackets, MAC, OHSAA, some Monsters, some AAA baseball, and all of the FSN national contracts (PAC 12, Big 12, A10) needing a home.

Plus if they want to keep any original programming after that, it needs room
  • TBone14
There has to be 2 channels. One channel can't broadcast 162 Indians and Reds games.

Well FSN operates a northern Ohio and southern Ohio feed as it is to avoid that. But with all of the combined programming and buying an existing station they may be able to just run a full blown FSN Ohio 2

Right. But not everyone living in Northern Ohio is an Indians fan and not everyone living in Southern Ohio is a Reds fan. I have a good number of friends here in NWO that are Reds fans that would be hosed if they did the 1 channel 2 feeds.

That's how they did it pre-2007 with both teams. Regardless of where fans are now, MLB says northern/northeastern OH is out of market for Reds, and southern/southwestern Ohio is out of market for the Indians. They won't be allowed to show both statewide under any circumstance
