He enjoyed his time playing in Cleveland, but the dude is going to go to the highest spender regardless of location.

Those locations just happen to be the places most willing to throw around the largest amounts of $$$

Well I said earlier I would bet against it (him resigning) happening lol so I won't take that bet. I'm just saying I don't think it's necessarily a done deal that he's a 1 year rent a player.

I thought it's because he's an Asian dude? Which one is it JORDO

Hopefully this turns out to be a trade rape for the Tribe, we need one of these. Also why in the fuck does QQaChoo net a top 10 pitching prospect, yet reigning Cy Young winners get trash?

    Probably mostly money

SportsAndLady;1340843 wrote:I don't think so..I mean if I had to put money on it, I'd say he's gone. But I don't think he's CLEARLY a one year rental. He could like playing in Cinci (like Ludwick did) and decide to re up with Cinci for less money (like Ludwick did)
He might, but Boras wont care. He will make him test FA and in that case, see ya. When was the last time a Boras client didnt go to the highest spender?

He will be in the rotation by opening day, more than likely.

    Excellent question.

Whole lot of K's In that lineup

Thank god classlessposter posted. Everything he posts, the exact opposite tends to happen. This might be a miracle season after all.
  • GOONx19
^ Especially when the Tribe had the third fewest K's in baseball last year.

Mark Reynolds and Drew Stubbs are some of the worst in the game at striking out. Both also would be happy hitting .225

Also may I add they finished 20 games behind Detroit

CP is a vaginal herpe, but he's right about the K's for Stubbs. Get ready, Cleveland fans, to be so extremely fucking irritated at Stubbs' K's. He'll show such great potential in a series (something like go 5-9 with 2 HRs and 3 steals), then go 0-10 with 7 K's in the next series. Cannot think of a more frustrating player than Stubbs. Hopefully for you guys his recent swing changes helps fix his K problems.

I am well aware, I just wanted to take my shot at CP since he is a douche. Although, we could get some CP posting karma, so my post might not be that far off. It has about as good of a chance of happening as Choo staying with the reds after this season :D.

Austin Jackson fixed it so who knows. But my dad(huge Reds fan)was celebrating and called me when it came across the wire that Stubbs was gone. That's how well he's thought of...

Your dad needs to step his technology game up if he's getting his news when it comes across the wire still. Tell em to get a fucking twitter

I'm okay with this deal....not liking the negs on Stubbs....not liking losing Sipp (another left handed reliever) as Raphe Perez also let go. It certainly is worth the risk given Choo would be gone after this year.

And at the end of his contract they will unload him immediately if it looks like he deserves a respectable salary

    Excellent question.
Technically, Gregorious netted a top 10 pitching prospect.

Also, wait till you get to see Stubbs make a diving attempt or play a ball up against the wall, he's terrible at both. His diving attempt is a half dive, half barrell roll. Granted 90% of the time, he'll opt to let the ball drop in front of him, rather than trying to make a play on it.

Ok, but he is ours until 2019. Arbitration eligible in 2016.

Also, got an email from DiBiasio. He is straight forward with me. Said the tribe had been trying to extend Choo for 2 years and boras wouldn't listen to anything. Essentially forcing Choo into FA.
  • HitsRus
I don't think there is any doubt that Choo will go FA next year unless the Reds terribly overpay. Boras is famous for getting teams to bid against themselves trying to land or extend a player.

...huh.... just was listening on the radio (ESPN) and they were talking about what a great defender he is. I guess we'll find out.

It will be nice for once this season as a Tribe fan to see some pop in the line-up. It got awful tiring falling behind knowing that we had zero power, and that we couldn't ever count on a 3 run homer or something like that to get back in a game quick.

Having to manufacture all your runs without any power presence leaves no room for error and is a really tough way to try and win games.

That said, we very well may lead the free world in team strike outs this year.

For their positions, Kipnis and Santana strike out at a pretty high level (in the top 25%), and Reynolds and Stubbs are both in the top 10 of the whole league in that category.

I am also somewhat concerned that we are accumulating alot of low on base % guys. Choo was 19th in the MLB in that last year and he is gone now, and we have replaced him with the guy who had the worst OB% in the league for players that qualified.

    Stubbs was 143 out of 143 with a .277OB%.

I hope from here on out in free agency we start focusing on some guys who can hit for a better average and get on base so that when the boppers come up there are guys on base to drive in.

One thing is clear though, Cleveland won't be playing small ball this year to manufacture it's runs.

When you have a mediocre pitching staff, you can't play small ball and expect to win.

Any word on how "close" we will be to not signing Swish?
