Tribe Off Season/Hot Stove thread.

Porcello 5 years ago wouldve been nice since he was a top pitching prospect. Porcello today is a middle of the road veteran. No thanks.

Closer market just doesn't seem to be that great. A little while ago, the rumor was straight-up Porcello for the Pirates' Joel Hanrahan and the impression I got was that the Tigers wanted something more.

Has there been any mention of what the Tribe are offering Swisher?
  • hangonsloopy
Around 13 million a year for 4 years.

    Jesus.

    ^^^no, Nick.

Rumors continue to swirl that the Tribe is the front runner to land Swisher for a number of reasons:).

Reportedly...Swisher would really like to be a Dodger, but the feelings aren't mutual.
  • hangonsloopy
Supposedly also in talks with Edwin Jackson according to Ken Rosenthal.

I had heard before 2 years 16 million. 4 for 13 million doesn't make any sense...even for the Tribe.

The Dodgers will only be interested in Swisher if they can move Ethier and nobody wants his contract.

He turned down a 1 year $13.3 million contract from the Yankees, I would be stunned if he took a 2 year deal that payed on a fraction more than what he would have gotten for just this year.

All of what I've seen has centered on 4 yr/$48-52 million. Early reports thought that he could command $60 million.

I think the Phils or the Rangers will come in at the last minute, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

4 yr/$48-52 million....isn't that our team payroll?? I don't see tight-ass Dolans coming up with that. Hope I'm wrong.

Buster Olney reporting a minor league deal/spring training invite has been reached with P Scott Kazmir

Swisher is an Indian, 4 years at 56 million

Option for a fifth year....could make the deal worth 70 mil
  • TBone14
I love it. He is going to bring that A's/Yankees approach to the plate. Take pitches, work pitchers and draw walks. Swisher probably walks more than anybody who isn't a typically power hitter.
  • royal_k
Gotta admit this one surprises me. But I'm definitely happy.
  • Tigerfan00
Theyve done more this offseason then they have in the last 5 years combined. Im not even going to count the CC and Lee trades that brought right next to nothing.

We all know how loyal former Buckeyes are to the Ohio State University. Sounds like he was really impressd with the lunch with JT and the video with Matta and Meyer.

Nope, those mid 90s teams are the only thing that makes me smile when I think of the Tribe.

The Tribe (front office and support staff)worked really hard to to get him and did a great job....and it looks like the owner stepped up too:thumbup:
