hangonsloopyRumor is the Tribe has signed or is about to sign Brett Myers.
-
HitsRus^^^That's official pending passing a physical. Deal is for 1 year with a club option for another year.

hangonsloopySwisher being introduced now. He seems genuinely excited to be here. I'm starting to not be completely disgusted with the Tribe. Actually looking forward to opening day.
-
Commander of AwesomeYou're getting sucked in.
-
hangonsloopyI'll admit I am. You can't say they haven't had a good offseason though. They are so much better off right now than they were at the end of the season.

I don't think they are better or worse than the end of the season. That equates to still sucking ass.hangonsloopy;1356805 wrote:I'll admit I am. You can't say they haven't had a good offseason though. They are so much better off right now than they were at the end of the season. -

You don't think they are any better off with Tito, Swisher, Reynolds, Stubbs, and Bauer instead of Acta, Sizemore, Hafner, Kotchman, and Hernandez? I'm far from being happy with them but they've improved a ton. -

Don't forget, we don't have choo either. Other than manager, it pretty much looks like lateral movement.hangonsloopy;1356831 wrote:You don't think they are any better off with Tito, Swisher, Reynolds, Stubbs, and Bauer instead of Acta, Sizemore, Hafner, Kotchman, and Hernandez? Commander of AwesomeYea color me unimpressed with the off season. This team is going to be a bottom feeder.
I still don't see great pitching, nor do I see a batter over .300. -
Commander of AwesomeCouple of nice peices though /turdo

HitsRusI am genuinely excited for the season, but I understand the cynicsym. Still need to add a DH. What makes me most happy is that they got actual talent in return for Choo....something that was missing in the fire sale deals. This actually made baseball sense.
-
hangonsloopy
Definitely. They do need a DH. I think they need another veteran starter too.HitsRus;1356841 wrote:I am genuinely excited for the season, but I understand the cynicsym. Still need to add a DH. HitsRusMyers was a good pick up, but you can never have enough pitching.
-
chippy10The swisher presser has me more excited for baseball than in the past. He really is excited to be with tribe love it. The tribe is still pretty young and with young guys in rotation and if our bullpen provides the boost again will be alright in 2013. I think Francona will get these guys to play well and work hard. Excited for opening day in Cleveland. Rolltribe.

wes_mantoothCount me as another that thinks it was a solid offseason....better than normal anyhow.
-
TBone14For what's its worth..probably nothing. But here are Swisher's splits at Progressive Field.
Progressive Field 36 135 20 41 12 0 5 23 17 23 0 0 .304 .381 .504 .884 -
TBone14I copy and pasted that but you can get the general idea.
That's 36 games, 135 ABs, R, H,2B,3B,HR,RBI,BB,K,SB,CS,BA,OBP,SLG,OPS -
tmac23If they start out the season close to the top this year as they have the last two years, they might make some moves at deadline time.Last year from July to August was totally unwatchable. Still need DH and one more pitcher.I would have Ubaldo on a short rope.If he does not produce move him to the pen or eat his contract as he is probably untradeable.

I doubt he's untradeable. He still has an extremely cheap contract.tmac23;1357403 wrote:I would have Ubaldo on a short rope.If he does not produce move him to the pen or eat his contract as he is probably untradeable. -
Footwedge
There are no "cheap" contracts for pitchers that have an ERA as putrid as Ubaldo. If baseball were football, Ubaldo would not even be incited to camp.lhslep134;1357819 wrote:I doubt he's untradeable. He still has an extremely cheap contract. -
royal_kI think they had a solid off season. I like the Meyers signing. I really like the Bauer kid they got in the Choo trade. We don't have a lot of young arms like his in the organization. And the Swisher signing is something we haven't seen here in years, an actual good FA. I still wouldn't be surprised to see Druby moved for another starting pitcher or someone who could DH. They are loaded in the minors with good SS prospects.

I think that is a really good possibility if we get to July and find ourselves out of contention. I think they'll go into the season and see how it plays out before deciding on whether to move Cabrera. Because off his contract situation, there is some flexibility here. In all cases, they need to get talent in return.I still wouldn't be surprised to see Druby moved for another starting pitcher or someone who could DH.
