BRFAs soon as Perez made his first tweet, I became sick of him.
Funny thing on "Sha-peero". Living near me in Wooster are several families with the last name Shapiro and that is how they pronounce it...."Sha-peero"...even get mad if it is pronounced Mark's way.
BTW, F him, too. -
HitsRusI've got nothing against Perez. He doesn't always say the correct thing but at least he's honest.
As for Shapiro, it is disheartening as a fan to hear him talk like that, because it is a signal that nothing is going to change. I understand as a fan that you can't win every year...even, that sometimes you can't even compete in some years, but for god's sake....ownership needs to show some commitment to winning at some point. They just don't seem to be in any hurry to get that one guy who can make a difference.
I, above all, understand what Shapiro is talking about when he talks of there being more to going to major league baseball games than just the wins and losses. I'vehad season tickets thru thick and thin....but it is getting damn hard to support a team to the extent I've supported it without seeing the owner commit the same. If they expect me to support the team to the 'full season extent'...then I want to see the owner 'full in', too. -
HitsRusRaphe 'left' has been DFA'd. What once was a devastating right/left punch of Raphaels has been long gone....and now what was 'left' is probably gone too Raphael perez was DFA'd to make room for Nick Hagadone(Self inflicted pitching hand injury) on the 40 man roster. Perez was not tendered an olffer and is now a free agent.

Major disconnect between Management/Dolan's and the fans.HitsRus;1331599 wrote:I've got nothing against Perez. He doesn't always say the correct thing but at least he's honest.

When Forbes reports that they led the MLB in profit in 2011, and all they do is plead poor and tell us to deal with it, that is a problem.
Fans would be far more willing to buy what Shapiro is trying to say if it weren't for the fact we know the Dolan's are just stealing our money with no intention of doing any more than the bare minimum.
As a fan base we are between a rock and a hard place. The Dolan's have no problems with being a pariah in the community as long as they can milk the cash cow to finance their lifestyles.
Without that, there is no way to pressure them to sell. If they cared what people thought, they might get out rather than become the object of public scorn.
It seems like we are set up for more failure and misery, because the Dolan's appear happy with the status quo as you mentioned. -

Really?:rolleyes:Antonetti is hopeful that Matt LaPorta, coming off hip surgery, can still be an option at first base.
It's almost like the front office is going out of its way to make bad decisions as if to thumb its nose at the fan base that nothing they can do will get them fired, and that we can all eat shit.
How can the thought of LaPorta being a real option even cross Antonetti's mind. It is delusional. -
Commander of AwesomeJust heard we're looking at shane victorino. SMH at the tribe.

This is just a step below the Damon signing. "Oh, he sucks, but he is a known name (aka overrated). This will keep the fans satisfied until we are out of contention in May and trade him for absolute shit at the deadline!"Commander of Awesome;1336271 wrote:Just heard we're looking at shane victorino. Laley23Shane Victorino would be a GREAT signing if this were like 2007 when we were a competing franchise and he was going to be our 7th best player. As it stands, not sure what he brings to the table. Hes the type of guy who adds a lot to an already really good team (Phillies all those years). He isnt gonna bring shit to a franchise like the Tribe.

Kind of like the Pirates with Russell Martin?Laley23;1336290 wrote:Shane Victorino would be a GREAT signing if this were like 2007 when we were a competing franchise and he was going to be our 7th best player. It's funny: with football, it's the "I hate you guys" rivalry. In baseball, it's more of the sympathetic thing where we both can look at each other and know exactly what we're going through with our cheap-ass teams... -
ts1227Boston to sign Victorino. For once the Tribe's lowballing may have paid off

Now he'll probably have great year.ts1227;1336424 wrote:Boston to sign Victorino. For once the Tribe's lowballing may have paid off -

The Dolan's must have shit themselves when they saw Victorino get 3 years $39 million.ts1227;1336424 wrote:Boston to sign Victorino. For once the Tribe's lowballing may have paid off
He batted .255 with 11 HR and 55 RBI.
That is what $13 million buys in today's marketplace.
For $13 million a year the Dolan's would expect Albert Pujolos in his prime type production as it would be the biggest salary on the team if I'm not mistaken.
Management now are like the 95 year old grandmother walking through a grocery store rattling off what the prices used to be so many years ago.
I didn't want Victorino, but they are just so out of touch with what the going rate is on players now a days.
If we are waiting for a 15-20 HR, 75-80 RBI guy to fall into our lap for $6-8 million who isn't at the end of the line or a reclamation project we are going to be waiting a long time.
Salaries have spiked because there is more money floating around from the national TV deal, and at some point the Dolan's have to stop using it to line their pockets and put it into the product on the field.
I have sticker shock too at some of these deals, but it isn't going anywhere, and they have to figure out how to compete in that environment. -

And I lol at this, too:

buckeyes_wooweeI love the Indians but I have never been more turned off by them. They have the worst owner in sports and the team president doesn't even care if they win. I will not be spending any money on tickets, merchandise, anything to support these clowns. They are cheap a$$es and provide a horrible product. They wonder why people don't go to the games? Probably because the money earned is sitting in the Dolan's pockets and nothing is put into building a team! Cleveland fans deserve better.
-
hangonsloopyThe Indians offered him 4 years and 44 million. So at least they are trying to spend money. Even if it is on bad players.

So they say. We have heard this before -
HitsRusDolan is famous for coming in second place in bidding for free agents. I don't think I would have spent that for Victorino. That money could be spent in locking up young talent on the team already in the form of contract extensions....that is...if they had anybody worth extending.
In other news...Jack Hannanhan was not tendered a contract and now is a free agent.....meaning Lonnie is our boy at 3B.
Grady Sizemore had knee surgery in September(microfracture) and will not be able to play until mid 2013.....so we can all breathe again. -
ts1227
They easily could have made that after the higher offer just to claim they triedhangonsloopy;1336541 wrote:The Indians offered him 4 years and 44 million. So at least they are trying to spend money. Even if it is on bad players. -
HitsRusI have a hard tiime believing that they offered anybody a 4 year contract.

Please. No way they seriously made Victorino a 4 year offer that they thought he would take.hangonsloopy;1336541 wrote:The Indians offered him 4 years and 44 million. So at least they are trying to spend money. Even if it is on bad players.
This.HitsRus;1336690 wrote:I have a hard tiime believing that they offered anybody a 4 year contract.
This is just management trying to cover their ass. When nobody comes to the park because they don't spend money they can say, "We offered 44 million to Shane Victorino. WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT FROM US?!? Please give us more of your money. " -
sportswizuhrdReading a lot of rumors about Asdrubal to Arizona for a rapper named Trevor Bauer.

wes_mantoothI honestly believe you take an idiot off the street and run the Indians better than what these clowns are doing....it is so sad. I mean, they are complete idiots if they offered that much money to a meaty oaker (ha!) player like him. And if he turned down that offer, it shows what a shit show they have going there from a players prospective.
-
sportswizuhrdThe Rockies have already given up on Alex White, trading him to the Astros for a setup guy(Wilton Lopez).
-
wes_mantoothTribe offered Jason Bay a one year deal this morning......lol
Fucking idiots.
