ESPN article says cavs get a future 1st plus speights, ellington, and selby.sleeper;1371842 wrote:This is really the only relevant player in the deal. I'm assuming Memphis will get a second rounder in the deal as well. Solid add for the Cavs especially with Varejao out.
Pure salary dump. -

This trade is looking pretty good from my pov -
MulvaEllington definitely makes Gibson expendable, not that he wasn't already.

Damn. We made out nicely. Speights is definitely the best player in the deal by far and we get a future 1st rounder(although it'll likely be a late one).Mulva;1371870 wrote:ESPN article says cavs get a future 1st plus speights, ellington, and selby.

Guess we can keep S&L happy now since we have a future all star in a late 1st rounder and can keep Anderson Varejao.sleeper;1371969 wrote:Damn. We made out nicely. Speights is definitely the best player in the deal by far and we get a future 1st rounder(although it'll likely be a late one). -

This has nothing to do with varejao...you still trade away varejao for a first rounder, no matter what.Commander of Awesome;1371975 wrote:Guess we can keep S&L happy now since we have a future all star in a late 1st rounder and can keep Anderson Varejao. -
bigdaddy2003Nice trade

Pick6What a trade rape. We literally gave up a D-leager. I love having flexibility. The best part is, everybody's contract that was acquired expires after this year, Speights with an option. Still maintain the flexibility.
I think this is setting up another trade (Boobie, Walton). Grant is the fucking man. -

I think Varejao, when healthy, is worth far more than 1 late first rounder. I agree he doesn't fit the long term plans, but I'd like a little more than a late first rounder for him.SportsAndLady;1371983 wrote:This has nothing to do with varejao...you still trade away varejao for a first rounder, no matter what. -

Considering he traded Mo Williams for Kyrie Irving, he should be GM of the century.Pick6;1372002 wrote:What a trade rape. We literally gave up a D-leager. I love having flexibility. Pick6We traded Leuer for a solid NBA starter, 2 young guys with potential, and a lotto pick! We can still get rid of these guys at the end of this season if we arent satisfied.
-
Pick6taken from RCF per an article posted online in Memphis:
Jon Leuer? Whozat?
...
Who the heck is Jon Leuer? Sounds like more playing time for Haddadi, oh no!
...
Jon Leuer? Whozat?
pretty smart & effective player in college. Too slow & timid for NBA. He'll be sitting a lot.
...
You trade away a first round draft pick and the only shooter on the team for this guy? wow. Who is making the calls now
...
Bad trade. Not a fan of how the new ownership is running things, and this confirms my fears.
Pinch pennies after the season! Mo is very productive in his limited minutes, and we never gave Selby a real chance. If Ellington is included, this verges on ridiculous.
Phooey.
...
Incredibly bad deal. The new owners aren't going to endear themselves to Grizzlies' fans making a trade that amounts to a salary dump. We may just as well still have Micheal Heisley as the team's owner.
...
Well, Grizz fans here we go with the foolishness. Now, we have no one to back up Zach nor a decent shooter on the floor. Our bench just went to crap just like that. Now we go from a contender to a pretender.
...
josh selby gonna become a superstar in cleveland. he didn't get a chance to show what he could do
...
Now you can place the Lakers were we stand in the Western Conference and we will fall to where the are in the conference. No pleased
...
Trade looks as bad as the one I made in fantasy football this season. I still cringe when I think about it. This one seems cringe-worthy.
...
they are just giving players away
...
This trade looks bad on the surface, but in bringing cap room, it allows the Griz to sign FA's.
Word is the Griz are taking Sasha Vujacic, Bill Walker, and Delonte West. This may not be a bad move, as those guys may bolster our backcourt and Jon Leuer is a development opportunity in the front court to spell minutes as the 4th big man in the rotation.
All in all, bad move but it was necessary if we really wanted to keep the core together, as Mike Conley and Marc Gasol stressed to Pera during a dinner a few weeks ago.
...
WTH? They just traded away their bench, which was pretty good. Now they have nothing. And losing a draft pick on top ot that? I guess they really need to get under the tax.
...
The Grizzlies better pick up Michael Redd. The guy can still play
...
We need to let the whole scenario play out here. This is just the first move in a 2 or 3 move sequence. I hate to see Speights go because he is a hustler. But let's see who else we get. Hopefully some outside firepower and a legit replacement for Mo.
...
i think Jon Leuer will be waived
...
This is what you get with poor ownership
...
No way i would trade speights with an injury prone Arthur! Dumb azz move. if anything, trade HH and speights backup mark and then zach if needed. -
MulvaCavs got reverse lottery protection for 2 years, grizz top 5 protection for 4.
We get any pick between 6-14 in 2015 or 2016, any pick later than 5 in 2017 and 2018, and unprotected in 2019.
Hopefully Memphis has to go into rebuilding mode in a few years. -

Nice pick right after lbj gets back. Nice.

hoops23Trade rape.
-
slingshot4everHopefully in a year or two I will actually be willing to spend money to go see a game in person....
-
sleeperIrving is ridiculous. 9-11 for 21 points; and it's only the second quarter.
-
Pick6Irving with 40 against Rondo. Boss status
-
KR1245Rondo and Bradley are solid defenders and Kyrie made em look stupid
It was good to see TT play a solid game against a team like Boston -
hoops23Kyrie may have sealed an all star birth with that performance against two of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA. He straight abused Boston whenever he wanted to.. He honestly could have went for 50+ tonight, but didn't look to score much in the 2nd and 3rd.
Tristan is just fucking blossoming into a legit post player. He's doing a lot from the triple threat position at the elbow and I'm loving it. Great work ethic. -
like_thatIt seems like Kyrie has Boston's number.

He's honestly the 2nd best PG in the league right now right behind CP3. Deron williams sucks, Rondo isn't bad but Irving is better.Pick6;1372368 wrote:Irving with 40 against Rondo. Boss status -

I might have to agree. He is definitely top 4 (CP3, Rondo, Kyrie, Westbrook in no order). I just think an argument could be made for a few guys, depending on which type of point guard a person prefers.sleeper;1372417 wrote:He's honestly the 2nd best PG in the league right now right behind CP3. I always consider Westbrook a SG. Also, can we give up on Waiters yet? Dude isn't good. Tristan and Kyrie are the future though.Pick6;1372420 wrote:I might have to agree.
