    Zero improvement on defense. The team was rated last his first season and then 26th the last two in defensive efficiency. I get if guys can't score outside of Kyrie but you think that he'd coach 'em up defensively knowing about our offensive liability. I linked a Jason Lloyd article stating the management wants a tough defensive team and Byron only talked of vague concepts of what he wanted his defense to be. Never really said how he was going to get guys there. That difference in opinion with management was most likely his undoing.

    He also seemed to check out in games we got up big. Never tried to stop other teams from making runs and would take timeouts home with him. The team playing lazy down the stretch was a reflection of the effort the coach was giving IMO.

    I'll add to my points that I think the team would have stayed with him had there been some improvement. It's no secret we've been tanking for 3 years to build up our talent in the draft. But I think the overall lack of improvement in areas management considers key was enough to think we needed to go in a different direction. Not sure how I feel about it, I just want to see who we get to replace him first before I decide whether this was a good decision or not.

    im a sixers fan, we suck worse than the cavs we didnt have to fire our coach he quit. but im realistic about what we have. how is it trolling to say varajo is your highest payed, first or second best player and he didnt play? luke walton is a stiff and he is your second highest payed player? TT almost set the record in the history of the nba for getting his shot blocked?? those are facts..i dont see how that equals playoffs. thats not trolling. i was being serious. brandon bass was a good player they should have kept and maybe had a chance.

    well go to the link and look at some other teams who are in the playoffs and look at the salaries they play to good players. most have 2-3 guys making 10-15 mill or more. all the teams that are out of the playoffs have similar payrolls to cleveland

    exactly. so how could someone say we need to fire our coach because we are a playoff team. which one is it? rebuilding team or playoff team? my only point was this is an obvious rebuilding year so how the heck do you fire the coach cause your not winning? you basically are making my point

    alright gblock, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt here despite your history on Cle threads.

    The main reason we fired Scott was due to the defense. We've had terrible def all year long, including blowing huge 20/30+ pt leads. Gilbert put him on notice back in Jan when he said we will be a playoff team once again when we're a defensive minded team. Scott didn't deliver. That plus him pushing the players too hard in practice and continued lack of in game flow management. Example he never calls a TO when we need to one, instead lets his team get down even more while the other team is raining 3s on us.

    Exactly, there are other factors than simply "well it was a rebuilding year." The fact that he lost the team midway through the season is not a good sign at all. You think those guys were going to be motivated to work hard all off season to play for a coach they don't want to play for anymore?

    Why do you keep bringing up Brandon Bass in a Cavs thread? He's never played for the Cavs or your Sixers so I'm not sure how it's relevant.
