IggyPride00Darren Rovell (the Sports Business guy) on ESPN was almost laughing about how a business that does the level of revenue the NFL does is literally nickel and diming about referee costs (who can have such a tremendous effect on the outcome of a game) when the damage to the brand should this continue dwarfs it exponentially.

IggyPride00Peter King just put up an article saying no deal is close. Goodell thinks weekly humiliation is worth it down the line if it can save the league a couple million a year by going to 401K's instead of a pension as well as get control of who officiates games and when, which they have given away in past negotiations.

FootwedgeHorrible calls in the 4th quarter last night......
1. 3rd and 4 at midfield...Pack down 7-6....Chancellor hits receiver as the ball arrives...great play!...flag for interference. god awful.
2. Wilson gets picked on the sideline...overturned on a roughing the passer. replay shows the d lineman diving ar the legs of Wilsin before he throws the ball. Absolutely atrocious.
3. First and 30. Wilson heaves a prayer down the left sideline. Packer d back covers perfectly, turns to play the ball, and the Seattle receiver goes over the back and rips at the dback's facemask. Defensive PI.
4. Blatant push off by Tate before the simultaneous catch. RU kidding me? No flag?
5. OK...I'm in the minority here....but I would have ruled it a touchdown too...simultaneous catch. Both in fast motion and slo mo. D back should have rolled over and ripped the ball away from Tate. He didn't do that. Tate had both hands on the ball for a full second. Doesn't matter who had what against his chest. Maybe change the wording on what a simultaneous catch is.
PS... bet the over/under...so I had no "dog in the fight" on that last play -
FootwedgeOh...and the Raven/Pats game was just as bad. In fact...probably worse.

NFL has to be similar as NCAA:
A simultaneous catch or recovery is a catch or recovery in which
there is joint possession of a live ball by opposing players inbounds
Therefore you need to know what possession means:
“In possession’’ is an abbreviation meaning the holding or
controlling of a live ball or a ball to be free-kicked. It may refer either to player
possession or team possession.
At what point did Tate control the ball? -
Ironman92After further review, the runner did touch second base.....touchdown Celtics.

He controlled the ball for a full 2 seconds. If he didn't, then Jennings would have been alone with the ball. He wasn't.Sonofanump;1280455 wrote:

1-4 sound like a typical week in the NFL. I agree with #5.Footwedge;1280449 wrote:Horrible calls in the 4th quarter last night......

bigdaddy2003I thought someone on ESPN said the refs were meeting with the commish today. I take it nothing was accomplished.

j_crazyThe big picture, what do you do on a last second hail mary? Not try and intercept it. You knock the fucking ball down. Green Bay deserved to lose, had a chance to lock it up, and didn't execute.

Did you not see the hail mary in the Titans/Lions game? -

I disagree that 4 is typical. I highly doubt he gets away with pushing the defender down to the ground. -

Yeah. He tipped it trying to knock it down. -

He knocked it down. Right into a receivers hands.

Raw Dawgin' itAaron Rodgers makes the front page of the huffington post - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/25/aaron-rodgers-packers-seahawks-nfl-refs_n_1914674.html
"I just feel bad for the fans," Rodgers said on the show. "They pay good money and the game is being tarnished by an NFL who obviously cares more about saving a little money then having the integrity of the game diminish a little bit." -

Or the Jaguars game a few years ago...I agree the only sure way to end the game is to pick it off.GoChiefs;1280587 wrote:Did you not see the hail mary in the Titans/Lions game?

You are confusing controlling with touching.Footwedge;1280492 wrote:He controlled the ball for a full 2 seconds. If he didn't, then Jennings would have been alone with the ball. He wasn't. -

As was mentioned above, almost all hail marys have some form of PI, and it's never called. Maybe this was more blatant than others, but it is still a rarely called penalty on a play that isn't often run.GoChiefs;1280588 wrote:I disagree that 4 is typical.
