I haven't read(on here or anywhere) or seen anyone saying it was a good or even an OK deal for Orlando. It was straight prison rape.

They might try it for a while, but they'd be stupid not to run pick and rolls with Kobe/Pau post ups thrown in

The draft picks would make it somewhat decent...... But they're protected!!! Wtf!!!

I read Orlando didn't want Bynum bc they want to get the #1 pick next year, they thought him or Pau would make them a little less shitty.

Great strategy, considering how being the worst team in the NBA guarantees you the top draft pick. Oh wait...that's right...Orlando is run by morons. Forgot that for a minute. My bad.

I think Charlotte is still worse. Orlando is probably #2 or 3 now though.

Actually their GM is one of the guys who was involved with building the Thunder, so you figured they would have gotten a little better value.

Also protected or not, I dont think it makes a difference. It's not like LA, Denver, or Phili are lottery teams

Has anyone else found their lives decreasing in substance since this Dwight-saga finally resolved? I have nothing to look forward to. Who wants to talk about where he'll go next season??!! I heard a rumor he's looking into becoming head coach of the Timberwolves!
  • Trueblue23
    Steve Nash
    Kobe Bryant
    Metta World Peace
    Pau Gasol
    Dwight Howard

    Antawn Jamison
    Jodie Meeks
    Steve Blake
    Chris Duhon
    Jordan Hill
    Earl Clark
    Devin Ebanks

That's a hell of a team, and they're rumored to be talking with Kenyon Martin, who is a pretty versatile defender.

Also a pretty old team. But they'll be solid for 2 years at least

Fucking joke of a trade. Lakers always getting gift trades.

I expect interest and ratings to increase yet again. You guys are kidding yourselves if you think the league is better off with Howard in Orlando rather than LA

Oh and Orlando got raped because they allowed themselves to. It was consensual. They haggled for so long, other teams moved on with their teams leaving only the Lakers. Orlando's only other real option was Houston. After that LA was in a position of power and probably scaled down their offer.

It was already proven that the NBA finals the past 2 years were near the bottom half when it came to ratings. Nice fail though. I am sure all the fans and NBA owners want the players to take over the league by QQing their way into a choice of 5 teams they would want to play for. Sounds like a great business plan to me! /sarcasm

Oh what do you know, Kobe being carried to another title on the back of a super star big man in his prime.

If it wasn't for Allen Iverson, Kobe would be the most overrated player to ever play the game.

I won't name any names because I don't want to get infracted, but someone on this thread is a doucher.

Newest member of the Celtics Jason Terry seems pretty confident on the upcoming season

“In the NBA, market size doesn’t matter as much as the stars involved,” said Stephen Master, head of Nielsen Sports Practice, noting the Finals had three of the league’s biggest names in James, Dwyane Wade and the Thunder’s Kevin Durant.

"Overall, it has been a phenomenal year for the NBA, coming off the negative attention they had in October and November,” he added.

Indeed, the entire lockout-shortened season has been a ratings success, delivering record or near-record ratings for broadcasters who pay about $1 billion a year for the rights.

Regular-season games on TNT averaged a record 2.5 million viewers. Games on ABC averaged 5.4 million, also a record, while ESPN 's regular-season games drew 1.9 million viewers, down from last year but still the second-most-watched season ESPN has ever had.

TNT 's playoff games averaged close to 5 million a game, the second-best watched postseason in the network 's 28 years of broadcasting the NBA. Meanwhile, the Heat-Celtics series on ESPN saw the three highest-rated NBA games in cable history, with Game 7 drawing more than 13 million viewers. Overall, ESPN 's playoff coverage was up 25%, averaging just over 6 million viewers a game, another record.

On top of that, the league-owned NBA TV network had its most successful season, while unique visitors to NBA.com were up 21% and unique users of NBA Mobile apps increased 149%. Read more about NBA Digital’s bumper season.
People care about stars and storylines, not Milwaukee vs. Memphis

If anything, they'll be highest the first couple weeks of the season while people check out the new draft picks or teams that made big moves. Then they'll drop down to normal levels the rest of the season because it's too long. No new fans will go out of their way to watch a Lakers - Pistons game on a Thursday night in January.

That is your opinion. That's not what happened this year after many on this board had said that interest in the NBA would go down.

The same people are always going to watch Pistons - Cavs or Blazers - Bucks. Those are true fans. However, their viewership is a given. Superstars and mega teams attract the casual viewer. Casual viewers cause ratings to sky rocket.
