  Im pretty good at nabbing pitchers early in their careers. I had Lincecum as well as a rookie, for 3 years. But we have stipulations on keepers, so we cant have them for more than a certain number of years.

  Nicely done, you would fit well in our league. I too had Lincecum his rookie year (actually picked him up before he was called up), and was the first to jump on Harper and Darvish (in the offseason) and had a solid draft this year (landed HanRam, David Wright, Mike Trout, Colby Lewis and Chapman after keeping McCutchen, Castro and Strasburg). I really crapped the bed on a few keepers though (Ike Davis, Dustin Ackley and Lincecum, to name a few).
  
  In our league, we assign 25 years of contracts and get 2 franchise players (that are not tied to contract years, one pitcher and one batter).

  Big debate starting here in DC now. As the Nats are in first, pretty much at the All-Star break, do you sit Strasburg down at the end of the season?

  I lean you have to take it easy with him, but don't shut him down. For all we know this could be the Nats only shot for a run. Sure they have young talent, but as we have seen with the Indians over the years, never take a good team for granted.

  ours is somewhat similar. You can keep 5 players each year. 1 hitter, 1 pitcher, 1 either, 1 FA Pick-up, and 1 that takes your draft spot in that round (so a later pick is immensely more valuable if they pan out).
  
  Stipulations are you cant keep anyone more than 6 years (traded players KEEP years), You only have 15 years to go around, so you cant have all 5 players at 6 years either. It really comes down to 4 keepers though, as each year you must have at least 1 new keeper that you drafted the year before (per, losing that spot in the draft). You also cannot drop a player hoping he clears waivers and pick him back up as your FA keeper. We had a guy do this over the 4th weekend. No one was online all weekend to see it, and he got Hanley. It was an amazing move on his part, so I put the rule in place next season.
  
  As for Ackley, I thought he would be a stud this year. My team is loaded though.

  Id do what the Rays did with Hellickson last year and Price the year before. Skip a few starts here and there. The innings limit can stay in effect, but you dont shut him down completely.

  If they let him get to 160 or whatever the number is and shut him down it would be one of the biggest sissified moves of all-time.
  
  Don't make this hard. Be creative. He pitches tonight. He has not thrown over 7 innings all year...he's on pace for exactly 200 innings. The Nats don't start back until next Friday....Put him last in the rotation and he won't pitch until Tues the 17th. (game #88), then (game #93), (game #98)...now you are to August and he's at 118-120 inn max.
  
  In August go with a 6 man rotation for two times through and then DL him after game (#110)....much of the staff is very young and August is the hottest month...why only baby Strasburg's arm?......don't pitch him again until game # 128. At this point he is at a max of 136-141 inn.
  
  From there he would pitch in game 133, 138, 143, 148, 153 and 158....leaving him to be the starter to open a series or be the pitcher of the opening WC game.
  
  This would put him a max of 172 innings...likely around 168.
  
  1 start in divisional series
  2 max in NLCS
  2 max in WS
  
  Worst case scenario is he pitches 200 innings and they either win or lose the World Series.

  Or pitch him every turn the rest of the year...get him to 200 to start the playoffs and he might get up to 235 innings.

  I agree, especially if they are leading the division our even like 2 games out of the wildcard. I can't imagine them going through with it. Fans would say fuck off to management.

  The Rockies "75" pitch limit is so odd. Pomeranz had 6.1 shutout innings allowing only 1 hit tonight but passed the limit so he got pulled.

  Karen...watching the Futures game? Christian Bethancourt is looking good behind the dish so far. Haven't seen either of the Reds players yet, but the announcers wanted to see Billy Hamilton try to steal against Bethancourt.

  nope not watching but did read on twitter that he was having a good game throwing. he has a cannon but might be limited offensively. seems like McCann is unlikely to re up with Atlanta after his current deal runs out in a year or two, hopefully Bethancourt will be ready to step in.
