No, you said Weeden is better than any QB in this draft. And that's what I was responding to.

ahh. My bad, but i do think with this whole year with Weeden starting, he gives us a better option winning next year than Barkely or Smith. I am not impressed with those two. So we go into next year with Weeds add a few pieces then the following year if Weeds doesn't pan out we draft our guy. I just hate to burn a first round pick if he isn't a sure fire all pro.

Great minds think alike i suppose.

Exact same shit that got said last year. "Almost always almost winning" just means you always lose.
    The offensive line is productive
We're 27th in the NFL in rushing and our #3 overall pick averages 3.7 yards per carry. They're productive in 1 phase of the offense. Unfortunately there are 2.

Every team in the NFL could talk about how good they "almost" are. So fucking sick of hearing it.

The realgm site above has a kid from Ada ranked above Matt Barkley.

    2009: 29th
    2010: 26th
    2011: 29th
    2012: 28th

What are those 4 numbers you may ask?

Those would be the total offense rankings of teams that Pat Shumur was in charge of calling the plays for.

I am surprised Terry Pluto isn't "Almost" drowning in the amount of water he is carrying for Shurmur and the franchise.

He is right though about some of the "almosts" becoming wins, because thankfully Pat Shumur will be a QB coach somewhere instead of being given free reign to indoctrinate our young players with his loser mentality the way he has the past 2 years.

The sad part is Shurmur is who we thought he was, and yet knowing that Holmgren hired him anyway.

I didn't ask. Did anyone else?

Rumor floating around that the Browns have hired Bernie Kosar as a special assistant to Brandon Weeden.
  • Motard
I'm tired of hearing everyone say "it's almost there". You know we were "almost there" last year too, 6 losses were within a score. If you go 0-16 and lose every game by a single point, there are still some big problems, "almost" doesn't cut it. Shurmur has to go now! he has his players believing that as long as they play hard and "battle", they've done their job.

Maybe weeds will be here next year

If this rumor is true, and the hiring move was made by Haslam/Banner vs Shurmur/Heckert, I'd have to believe that they see enough of him to try to develop him another year. Could be wrong but that would seem to be the direction they were pointing.

He will have to be God awful the last 6 games not to be back next year.

Getting a QB better than what he is doing through free agency won't happen.

Without a 2nd round pick, there is no way the organization will burn another first round pick on a QB who at best would be a marginal upgrade over Weeden. Taking another QB would mean that we didn't address any of the gaping defensive holes (secondary) with an impact player in the 1st round.

When you look at the entire picture it points to Weeden getting one more year next year as there just isn't a real good alternative to replace him with that could step in and give more production than they are getting from him.

I am still hopeful that whoever the next coach is will play more to his strengths and hurry up the offense and let him throw down field more.

Pretty much agree with everything you said here.

Dysert from Miami (OH)? It'd be cool to see him make it in the league. And even more cool to watch the overhyped Barkley get passed over by QBs left and right when draft time rolls around.

The #Browns opponents combined record: 54-46... I'd imagine that's probably near the top of the league.

Couldn't agree more. I would have to believe they go defense with their 1st pick and give Weeden another year with better coaching.

Great point. As much as I hate Weeden, a 1st round QB would be a waste. That doesn't mean we can't draft a QB in the 4th or 5th as a developmental project/competition.

What I want to know is what is going to happen to @fakepatshurmur when Pat Shurmur is fired. Is anyone else as concerned as I am?!?

If we could get bray in the 4th or 5th round it could be a pretty good steal.

Probably not a bad idea. I have serious doubts that McCoy will be around much longer. Is he a free agent this coming offseason? I think he has one year left on his contract.
