Half the board wants him shipped out of here. Clueless. They need to keep this guy...have Sully declare...and then draft him.
Yes, I can read. That was almost a good response to the question I asked but not quite.

Anyways I never said he sucked. I simply said he isn't a center.

Exactly although I would like Buford in the 2nd round he could provide some scoring off the bench. He is the only buckeye I want

To be fair, Danny Ferry cut Danny Green, much to my dismay.. (he didn't seem to care about my feelings on the matter tho)

I've only seen one poster say this. Hardly "half" the board.

I want the Cavs to keep AV. I love the fact that he brings the energy every night, and produces. He's the kind of guy that can help the Cavs for years to come.

The problem with AV is he's at his peak right now. He's 29 and by the time the Cavs are competitive again, he'll be worthless. His game is based on heavy amounts of energy and that will decline as he ages. Trade him to a team for a high draft pick and grab another player who will be peaking at the time when the window is open. Realistically, the Cavs will be bad next year too, and probably the year after, so by the time we are competitive AV will be 33 and riding the bench somewhere for the Vets minimum.

The Cavs aren't looking 3-4yrs down the road, Gilbert wants to win now. Next year they should be in the playoffs for sure. If they are going to be bad 3 more years it won't matter where Andy is because Kyrie will be leaving too. There is no way they can get back the same value that Andy is worth. Even a pick in the 5-10 range is more likely the be a bust than a top center like Andy.

If Gilbert wants to win now, then we really need to bring in some talent in FA. I just don't see it happening. Even when we had Lebron here, we could barely bring anyone in.

I agree a pick in the lottery range is not a true value for value trade, but when you factor in our window of opportunity, Andy is not in our long term plans.

Why is there an assumption Kyrie is going to leave? The new CBA allows our contract to be a lot better than any other, and Kyrie seems to really embrace the city.

Andy definitely could be in our future plans. For argument's sake we're set at PG and PF. If we can land a top 7 pick, we can be set at SG/SF as well. If that's going to happen, why the hell would we get rid of our C who would start on a lot of teams in this league, to take a pick that might not pan out?

Because our "window" is not within the years I feel Andy will still be a top center in the league. Energy and hustle at that position are great, but he's going to lose a lot of that by the time the Cavs are in contention mode. Might as well pick up another young talented player to groom with the rest of the guys.

what makes you think he can't be as productive in his low 30s?

Most Centers/PF tend to drop off in their 30's especially ones that can't shoot. Andy is a good player because of his energy, not because he's good at basketball. He'll still be serviceable, but he could easily be replaced by a younger player any day of the week.

Love me some AV but I tend to agree with this. The return had better be substantial though if they are going to move, arguably, their best player.

How do you plan on getting a lottery pick back for Andy? Is there is a contending team that owns the rights to someone else's 1st round pick this year? If not, I don't see any team headed for the lottery wanting to trade their 2012 or 2013 1st for AV.

We got the #1 overall pick for Mo Williams. I think I trust our GM to pull it off.

The GM who did that trade was a fool. After what happened I'd imagine teams would only trade lottery protected picks.

Typical oversimplification from you. We got the #1 for Jamario, Mo, and taking on Baron's $28 million. Taking Baron's contract was a big part of their ability to make a move this offseason, which is why they gave up an unprotected lottery pick.

Was he? It helped them land Chris Paul. They had the 8th worst record, a very slim chance of getting the #1 pick.

I'd say that trade ended up being pretty good for both sides.

Jamario? He sucks. Baron? He's gone. Typical oversimplification from you, we can trade AV and take back a bad contract. If it was done with Mo Williams, it can be done with AV.

It has happened several times before.

It was a cap space trade, and they ended up with one of the best PG's in basketball, it was a risky, but solid move on his part.

Gilbert wants to win a championship. This team isn't going to be a championship contender for at least 3 seasons, if they get there at all. More than half of the teams in the NBA make the playoffs every season. That isn't a big accomplishment, and it isn't the goal.
