NFL Week 8 - New England Patriots (5-1) at Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2)

  • Non

The Steelers needed to win their last three and not slip up against some soft competition and they did that.

It gets a lot tougher next week when Tom Brady and the Patriots come calling. Patriots will be rested coming off a bye week.

Good opportunity for the Steelers to take a step forward if they can play a great game, but I don't see it happening. Brady seems to have a great feel for the Steelers defense. Probably going to be more of the same.

Steelers will have to score and keep up.

I hate to say it but I think we lose to the Pats this week. That being said, I think we beat Baltimore the following week.

Brady will shred the Steelers weak coverage I think...unless there is shitty weather or something. With that being said, the Pats defense is garbage and I look for Pittsburgh to outscore the Pats 35-31.

Yeah, New England's secondary is turd but I still see them winning. Steelers due for a loss and then they owe B-more one.

the other thing working against the Steelers is that the Pats will have two weeks to prepare.

I don't know....Brady might have 500 yards on Ike and company. Need pressure from Woodley, Kiesel, and other....gotta hit him!

If the Steelers can somehow step up and beat New England and Baltimore, they would be 7-2 with the head-to-head over New England and at least tied with Baltimore in the division.

They'd be in pretty good position for even a No. 1 seed in the AFC.

I like the Pats in this one.

I think this game will be like last year sadly, unless there's a monsoon and they knock Brady out of the game.

yeah and if you won a million dollars, you would rich. No fucking shit they would be in good standing, and it's a big IF on those next two games as well. That's like saying if the steelers can win the remainder of their games and win every game in the playoff they would be super bowl champs. DERP

It's not the same as saying that. What I said is what I said.

Yeah it's going to be difficult but the point is if the Steelers can play great these two weeks it can have major ramifications on their season and the AFC playoff picture. Their schedule is pretty favorable the second half, so at 7-2 they would be in position to go after home field and another Super Bowl run.

We did bet on whether the Steelers would make the playoffs. Better pay the $100.

They're 5-2 and have a lot of winnable games after New England and Baltimore.

No spread, Patriots win straight up.

Can't say I'm too confident in the Steelers in this matchup.

    But damn it...you're on.

    so...

even if the Steelers lose to New England

they would win the division by winning their final eight games

Baltimore has two losses, Pittsburgh has two losses

if Pittsburgh loses to New England and then wins out they would be 13-3 with one division loss to Baltimore

if Baltimore loses to Pittsburgh but wins every other game they would be 13-3 with one division loss to Pittsburgh

all tied...but the next tiebreaker is winning percentage vs. common opponents and the Ravens would lose that due to losses against Jacksonville and Tennessee

Pittsburgh only losing to Houston and New England (but New England wouldn't count since Baltimore doesn't play them)

    just saying

Steelers defense is too slow to cover Hernandez, Gronk and Welker. At least one of them will beast out.

While I agree and I am predicting a Pats win.....who does New England have that's gonna cover Wallace, Brown and Sanders?

They did fine against Bryany, Austin and Witten. I'm less worried with them coming off a bye week too. Wallace doesn't get a ton of catches, you really just need to watch out for the bombs. I think with the extra week the patriots will be hard to score against.

Steelers went 12-4 last year, dude. So not out of the realm of possibility they can go 12-4 or 13-3.

What credibility do you have if you always think the team you hate sucks even when they're good?

I guarantee you didn't think the Steelers would make the Super Bowl last year...or in 2008...or in 2005...

I think it's big from New England and/or Baltimore's perspective to stop the Steelers right now.

They could really get the momentum rolling with these two home games.

    Can't disagree here.

Actually, Brady has had his way against the Steelers even when the Steelers defense has been at a great level. This year they're ok but far from great.

Going to be tough unless the Steelers can score some points or make some splash plays of their own on defense. They tend to get their hands on some interceptions but drop a lot of them. If they get a chance to intercept Brady they have to catch the ball.

should i start brady or Roethlisberger??...brady stunk it up his last outing and big ben has been on fire...that being said off a bye week im leaning towards brady. but as as a steeler fan i wanna start ben so that i can root for my team. 100$ league so i need to win tho...uuuuggghh..

I have little doubt that Brady will carve up the D. I just think that New England's pass defense has been exposed by aerial attacks this year. Yeah, they kept Dallas in check but the Cowboys also kept the explosive Pats' O in check for the most part too. It happens.

The Steelers should light up New England's secondary but I don't think it will be enough. Stopping Wallace from catching a long bomb is much easier said than done. I think Mewelde Moore could have a nice game catching a few passes out of the backfield if he is ready to go this week.
