Bengals trade Carson Palmer to the Raiders for a 1st rounder...

Carson has been training with TJ since they both didn't have a team. TJ said Carson's arm looks as good as he can remember. I think this will be a great trade for both teams. Glad the Bengals get the guaranteed part of it being great.

Getting those draft picks is definitely good, but how is it guaranteed great? What if those picks turn out to be a bust?

Farve also was going in to the same system he ran in GB for 16 yrs. Not the same situation in Oakland.

It's $80mil minus whatever Dalton will make that they will have to spend to upgrade the team. No chance they don't improve with that money to spend and the picks.

Hue Jackson was with Carson at USC and in Cincy. They run a similar system.

Just read a story by John Clayton regarding Hue's coaching of Palmer. He was the offensive coordinator at USC for 2 of Palmer's years. He was also the receiver's coach when Palmer had his best year in Cincy. Seems to me Coach Jackson knows exactly what he's getting AND he can be successful.

Raiders are going for it. It may prove to be an atrocious trade. Bengals fans are ecstatic and they got a lot out of nothing....but he may be a lot for the Raiders, not betting on it, but we'll see.

Raiders pushing all-in, but they got fleeced. Very rare to see anybody get traded in the NFL, and it is even rarer to see somebody get dealt for a 1st round pick. This almost makes up for them passing up on that megatrade with the Redskins a few years back when the Redskins wanted 85

It'll be interesting to see when they debut Palmer. ESPN writers thought it could be as soon as this Sunday. Obviously the Raiders are thinking of the here and now so why wait?

Raiders were desperate - picture Terrell Pryor having to run an NFL offense with one week in camp.

Best trade in Bengal history? We will see if it passes the James Brooks for Pete Johnson trade. That one worked really well for Cincy.

I'd say if Palmer can get the offense down, he probably will play. They spent a ton on him, it would be stupid not to play him. It would be even dumber to let Kyle Boller play extended snaps for them. We know what he is and what his limitations are

Hue Jackson and the Raiders don't feel they got fleeced also Palmer restructured his contract for the Raiders. Hue Jackson said he knows what they gave up and he knows what he is getting.

Wow really? A coach didn't bash his organization and say they got fleeced? I'm shocked.

So you don't think he really feels that way?
  • GOONx19
    No.
  • Terry_Tate
Im sure Hue Jackson was the main guy that wanted Carson, so I'd say he's happy.

No. But he's not worried about building for the future, he's worried about this season. Which is still a dumb trade. If he doesn't think the raiders got taken to the woodshed than he's a moron.

also according to NFL Today Podcast, the next best offer for Palmer was a 3rd pick. LMAO. Raiders outbid themselves by a mile. what a bunch of idiots.

at least they are doing something to win games, unlike the Browns organization.

Of course the head coach isnt worried about the future, especially a new head coach. He sees they are 4-2, in a winnable division, without a capable backup and a chance to make the playoffs. Head coaches want to win THIS YEAR and deal with next year, next year. Owners/GM's are ones that plan more for the future.

Mike Brown would not have traded Palmer for 3rd or even a 2nd round pick. Nice fail post
