Nice fail. Like i said stick to bball, cause you have no idea what you are talking about. -

He's still not even a top 10 QB in the league though, and they gave up 2 first-rounders, a 3rd, and their (at that point) starting QB for him.stroups;937743 wrote:Cutler is way better than palmer right now. He still has a strong arm and is fairly accurate.
I'm not so sure how bad the Bears line is really. They obviously aren't good, but I don't know if they're really as horrible as they look, simply for the fact that every o-line looks terrible in the Mike Martz offense. If he's your coach/coordinator you're going to be top 5 in the league in sacks. -

Oh because Palmer attended a USC game means he is doing nothing at all in the off season. Let me guess you never do anything outside of your work. talk about fail. Now cue your boyfriend COA chiming in. -
MulvaI also wonder how Rich Gannon feels since he just spent the entire Raiders/Browns broadcast on Sunday sucking off Jason Campbell and now Oakland is (reportedly) going after a long-term deal for Palmer.

Palmer would have to be an idiot to not be conditioning throughout the offseason and up to now. I'm sure he knew an opportunity would eventually come knocking.Skyhook79;937771 wrote:Oh because Palmer attended a USC game means he is doing nothing at all in the off season. Most intelligent people know that but then again like_that has a picture of Palmer drinking a beverage at a USC game so that means he has done nothing. At least like_that posted a picture of a guy with his shirt on this time.Automatik;937776 wrote:Palmer would have to be an idiot to not be conditioning throughout the offseason and up to now. Terry_TateCarson isn't an elite QB by any means, and definitely didn't have a great year last year, but I'm not ready to just say he has no shot at becoming a good QB again. I think people are really underestimating how bad TO and Ocho were for Carson last year. I know TO had good stats when he played, but often he would give up on a ball, or run a half hearted route, and that led to a Carson INT. Hell, Ocho can't even get on the field in New England and Deion Branch isn't very good IMO. I don't think he's going to throw 18 TDs to 7 INTs the rest of the year, but he's a big upgrade from everybody they've had recently. With that defense and running game as long as he isn't too awful they can win some games and maybe the division.

Unless the Raiders win the Super Bowl, there isn't really a way to make this a "loss" for Mike Brown and the Bengals.Skyhook79;937601 wrote:Even Mike Brown isn't stupid enough to turn this deal down. Would Love to see Palmer lead the Raiders to the Playoffs and Mike Brown sitting at home watching. -
AutomatikI never bought into him "retiring." He was bluffing to see if Brown would make a move and he stood by his word for the most part. Like I said, he's not stupid. I don't think he'll come in and light the world on fire, but he will do OK.
He'll be in a nice situation with Oakland having a great running attack. He did ok when Cincy took the division. When you force him to air it out with little or no support on the ground, then you could run into problems. -

Going with the "lets compare office work to a NFL player's work" fail I see. There is no comparision.Skyhook79;937771 wrote:Oh because Palmer attended a USC game means he is doing nothing at all in the off season. I forgot tailgating and drinking beers at USC games is a great way to prepare for the NFL and all the defensive schemes he will be seeing. Nice fail.
Since you want to use the real life comparisions. I work out too, doesn't mean I can get back on the wrestling mat and perform to the highlest level that I used to be able to perform. Nice fail. Once again either try to keep up, or stick to your fail posts in the NBA threads. -

Maybe, but after what Brown said about not rewarding Palmer by trading him and then watching him QB'ing another team in the Playoffs while your team is not in, would sting a lot.Azubuike24;937786 wrote:Unless the Raiders win the Super Bowl, there isn't really a way to make this a "loss" for Mike Brown and the Bengals. -

Oh I forgot Palmer is a rookie and has never played in the NFL or seen a NFL defense before and he should be preparing 24/7 with no social life whatsoever. Got anymore fail/advice for Palmer.like_that;937790 wrote: I forgot tailgating and drinking beers at USC games is a great way to prepare for the NFL and all the defensive schemes he will be seeing. How do you know he hasn't been having workouts with strength, conditioning, or QB coaches? You don't.like_that;937790 wrote:Going with the "lets compare office work to a NFL player's work" fail I see. There is no comparision.

A pic from Deadpin of him at a game of his alma mater doesn't say much. I highly doubt he hasn't been keeping his skills sharp. This isn't fat Albert Haynesworth we're talking about. -

Ask Darelle Revis and Chris Johnson (check wikipedia to see who they are) how holding out from training camp worked out for them.Skyhook79;937801 wrote:Oh I forgot Palmer is a rookie and has never played in the NFL or seen a NFL defense before and he should be preparing 24/7 with no social life whatsoever. I know you don't know anything about football, so i will explain this to you so it doesn't go over your head.
Both players held out from training camp. CJ is having a hard time getting it going this year. Revis last year had hamstring issues early in the year, and the Jets defense was not as strong early in the year because of it. This is all just from holding out from 4-5 weeks of training camp. Carson Palmer missed training camp and also the first 6 weeks of the NFL season. Does that make sense to you now? Probably not, I wouldn't expect a simple minded idiot to understand that. Heck, I will be shocked if you were capable of even reading this far. -

Saying he didn't do shit was an exagerration, but he can work out all he wants it is not going to prepare him for the grind of the NFL, it will not prepare him for the speed of defenses he will see, and it sure as hell won't prepare him for all the defensive schemes he will see. Not only that, but he has to learn a brand new offense.Automatik;937804 wrote:How do you know he hasn't been having workouts with strength, conditioning, or QB coaches? You don't.

Also, for all the time he was off, he had the mindset that he probably wasn't going to play. All of a sudden they expect him to flip a switch and be in playoff contending mode? LMAO ok. Drinking beers at a USC tailgate doesn't get you mentally ready for the NFL. You can't tell me the guy was expecting to play when he was working out, thus probably led to a less intensive training program than he normally would have. -
karen lotzSo are you saying because he tailgated and *gasp* drank a beer (or several beers) he won't be ready to play? This also implies that no one in the NFL drinks any alcohol during the season. Do you really believe that?
-
JawbreakerI think it has been reported multiple times that he has been working out with Ken O'Brien in SoCal.

I am willing to bet that wasn't the only beer nor the only time he went out drinking. Like I said, you are kidding yourself if you think he training was as intense as it normally would be if he knew he was going to play.karen lotz;937807 wrote:So are you saying because he tailgated and *gasp* drank a beer (or several beers) he won't be ready to play? So you think he is going to come in the NFL with a brand new team, brand new offense, and isn't going to miss a beat? -

Cool you retracted it now that you realized it was a stupid statement doesn't make any difference that for monthly you admently said Troy Smith should be starting in the NFL. Bases Loaded- I forgot about that one I still don't think its as bad as the Walker one. -

I don't want to get into this debate, but to be fair, that is a cornerback and running back you're talking about. Both have to be in extremely top shape to play their positions at the highest level, and have a lot more contact than a quarterback. The bigger thing with Carson is timing with the receivers, knowing the playbook, and getting adjusted to game speed. I'm not insinuating it will be easy for him to just step in and be fine, but it's not like he is relying on being in peak physical shape like CJ and Revis. I read he's been throwing with TJ Whosyourmama and prepared in the offseason like he'd be starting(http://cincinnati.com/blogs/bengals/2011/10/18/palmer-set-to-be-traded-to-oakland/), so I'm sure he's not out of shape. But again, comparing him to CJ and Revis just isn't a good comparison IMO.like_that;937805 wrote:Ask Darelle Revis and Chris Johnson (check wikipedia to see who they are) how holding out from training camp worked out for them.

It's even tougher for a QB imo, since he is the one managing the offense. The main point is he missed a lot of practice time, and in football, especially the NFL practice really matters. It's not like the NBA, where you can miss a few practices, and show up for gametime as if no practice was missed. There is no way in hell i trade away 2 first rd picks on it either.Terry_Tate;937812 wrote:I don't want to get into this debate, but to be fair, that is a cornerback and running back you're talking about. karen lotzI'm willing to bet that a lot of players go out and have a beer during the season. They do live lives. I don't know the intensity of his training, but saying he wasn't training hard because he was seen tailgating makes no sense at all. Maybe he trains 6 days a week and that game day was his one off day. Maybe he worked out at 6 in the morning before heading down to the game? You don't have any idea what his training was like.
I'm sure he will have some missteps with the Raiders. Was he supposed to know that's where he was going to play and then learn their playbook and terminology by watching games on TV? How was he supposed to be 100% mentally prepared to step into every team in the league's huddle and not miss a beat?
