My dad's company is one of the Crew's biggest sponsors, I've literally sat in on meetings with him and the GM Mark McCullers. Can't get more credible than that. They're not going anywhere.

Juventus is playing Chivas at Carter finley in Raleigh on the 28th. Unfortunately I will not be around for that. Sad because I do fly the Juve flag every now and again.

Thankfully I will be in Spain in August, and will be in Barcelona 17-21. I think Barca and Real Madrid are scheduled for a match sometime around then. Gonna see if I can get in the building for 100 Euro.

I have heard the rumor. It comes from a credible source. But, think about it...why wouldn't it be a possibility? Especially seeing the Crew being top 3 in the Eastern Conference and only averaging 11,000ish fans?! That's terrible! Why wouldn't the Hunt family think about other markets?

They only average 11k? I thought the Crew were a big deal down there? That is kind of crazy.

    Todays rumors:

    Raul to Blackburn?

Legendary Spanish striker Raul Gonzalez Blanco could be on Blackburn's radar for a shock move to the English Premier League.

According to the Daily Mirror, the former Real Madrid star, who has been told by Schalke in Germany he is not in the plans for this new season, is the latest target for the Lancashire club.

Former Real Madrid and Spain teammate of Raul, Michel Salgado is thought to be trying to convince the Champions League/European Cup all-time leading scorer (73 goals in 145 games) to join Blackburn.

It will be shocking if this comes through as Blackburn's new owners have been having financial troubles recently.

Chivas held their own for the most part last night. They had numerous chances, but just couldn't cash in.

While it's great that your dad's company is a sponsor and you've sat in on meetings...that has nothing to do with an owner's decision.

There may be more sponsor dollars elsewhere. It's as simple as that. Or...they want a better market than the 11,000ish fans that are attending the games of a top 3 Eastern Conference team.

With what is happening in Seattle, Portland, and Vancouver with their crowds...you'd expect something MORE to happen in a city that is larger than all three of those (city is higher than all three, but the metro Vancouver population tops Columbus). It's rather poor. Something needs to happen. A new stadium?

The MLS is breaking attendance records this season...only to see several clubs losing numbers, and Columbus is one of those (at a top 3 team in their conference?!). The record average for the MLS was set in 1996, the opening season...this year, that record could be broken -- no thanks to Columbus.

Yeah but the fact is, I was there when the guy from Vegas came to McCullers and Hunt with his idea to buy the team, he wanted to keep it in columbus until the lease on the stadium was up then reconsider his options. Hunt said no, the only way he'd sell it is if local owners wanted to buy it because he promised his father Lamar he wouldnt.

FWIW I think Clark Hunt is an honest man, but would sell for a lofty price. However, I doubt anyone would ever throw enough money his way to get him to break his promise to his father.

Chelsea beat the Malaysia XI 1-0 on a disputed free kick goal by Drogba (I dont think it crossed the line).

Really unimpressive. Torres seems to have regressed since his ankle surgery last year. Or maybe he just doesnt have the right environment at Chelsea. Whatever it is, I hope they figure it out.

Oh, and Malouda and Mikel must go....And maybe Kalou too.

Chelsea has done nothing in the transfer season.

With Arsenal, Man City and Man United making moves...if they (Chelsea) want to keep up, they have to do something with their aging lineup.

    Park to stay in Manchester

UPDATE: Seems like glory motivates Park Ji-Sung more than money as he is set to renew his contract with Manchester United instead of moving to Guangzhou Evergrande in a mega-rich deal. Argentina Coach on Thin Ice

UPDATE: Sergio Batista capped a disastrous last few months as Argentina manager with a disappointing Copa America in which the Albicelestes were eliminated in the quarter-finals on home soil.

Despite initial reports of unconditional support from the Argentine Soccer Association (AFA) it now appears his fate will be sealed on Monday and he is going to be shown the door. That seems to be the feeling among every national newspaper and media outlet in Argentina.

Argentine born Gerardo Martino who took Paraguay to the World Cup quarter-finals and the Copa America final has already said he will leave even if he manages to win the competition on Sunday. He is one of the favorites to take over if Batista is fired. Alejandro Sabella, winner of a Copa Libertadores and an Argentine league title with Estudiantes de La Plata is another manager with good chances to be considered for the job.

    --

Gerardo Martino is an Argentine manager who has led Paraguay to a Copa America semifinal after a penalty-shootout win over Brazil.
According to rumors on Twitter from various journalists, he is the main candidate to replace Sergio Batista in charge of Argentina after Copa America.

Sergio Batista failed to progress further than the quarter-finals on home soil and even though he insisted he is not resigning, he may be forced out as every poll in every newspaper in Argentina have fans calling for a replacement.

Sources from the Argentina Soccer Association insist BATISTA will stay in charge, but with such pressure from fans and media on the manager, you never know.
