I was there too. Ameobi looked awesome. At one point he brought a ball down in one touch that would take any American player 2-3 touches to control... He also bossed Burns (backpass burns) off the ball for the first goal.killdeer;843022 wrote:went down to see the friendly between the Crew and Newcastle United last night...
Crew's keeper goes out with a red at the end of the first half, and the Crew played short the rest of the way in a 3-0 loss.
A little surprised they threw the red card in an exhibition, but no affect on the outcome, I'm sure.
Ameobi was a boss with some masterful ball control in the box. Jonas looked slow and not quite up to pace, though he played most of the game.
The ref was crap.
In other news:
Birmingham are struggling to pay their bills and may have to sell more players to survive.
Dimitar Berbatov has no plans to leave Manchester United because the only way is down for players who leave Old Trafford.
Fernando Torres insists he has not forgotten how to score.
Steve Kean reckons he can get Blackburn into the Champions League within four years.
Wes Brown quit Manchester United after Sir Alex Ferguson told him he had no future at the club.
Sergio Aguero arrives in Britain today to seal his £40million move from Atletico Madrid to Manchester City.
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is prepared to play a waiting game to land Newcastle left-back Jose Enrique.
Alex McLeish is backing Charles N'Zogbia to make Aston Villa an "explosive" force next season.
Blackburn rebel Nikola Kalinic is ready to sign for Dnipro.
Tottenham are closing in on a shock move for Barcelona star Ibrahim Afellay.
Blackpool are lining up David Goodwillie as a replacement for DJ Campbell.
Wigan want Leeds winger Robert Snodgrass to fill Charles N'Zogbia's boots. -
killdeerBy the way, Barclay's Fantasy Premier League is up and ready to register for '11-'12.
The cosmetics look a little different, but the format is basically the same.
Last year someone here started an Ohio Chatter League on the site, which would be fun again

Id be dissapointed to see Ibrahim go, especially since he was the main reason Bojan was sold (really loaned). I think Afellay has a real future. But if his selling helps add the needed funds to give Arsenal the 40 they are looking for for Cesc, than by all means...go to London. -
MulvaI don't remember what my username or password for the fantasy site is. I'm pretty sure I was in 2nd place in the league last year the last time I checked, but that was probably only about 1/2 way through the season.

killdeerHere is the site...I opened up a league under Ohio Chatters if anyone is interested...

Yeah I saw that earlier today. I wonder who else will be on the North American version. I doubt Wilshere will be. Last year it was Kaka and Vela. For 12 I'm hoping for Rooney and Tim Howard! -

ohiobucks1Dolo just now getting back
U.S. international Steve Cherundolo is coming back after he suffered an injury at the start of the Gold Cup final against Mexico.
According to Yanks Abroad, Cherundolo hopes to be ready to play a part in Hannover 96 game against Anker Wismar for the German Cup on Sunday.
Cherundolo, who will keep the captain's armband for the season, looks to be ready for the start of the Bundesliga on August 6 against Hoffenheim. -
ohiobucks1Mata to Arsenal?
UPDATE: Arsene Wenger wants to sign more players and he wants to do it even before this weekend, says The Telegraph's Jeremy Wilson.
He adds that Arsenal made progress in negotiations to land Valencia and Spain star Juan Mata in what would cost the Gunners up to $29 million.
--
Arsenal and Tottenham are on high alert after Valencia's manager Unai Emery admitted there is a chance for Juan Mata to leave the club in this summer's transfer market.
"We want Juan Mata at the club and he wants to stay, but we know if we receive an offer that is good for the club and the player could make him leave Valencia", Emery told Spanish newspaper Marca.
Both Arsenal and Tottenham have already expressed their interest on the 21-year-old who won the World Cup in 2010 and the U21 European Championship this year with Spain. -
ohiobucks1Huge waste in OB1s opinion
UPDATE: Santi Cazorla effectively became Malaga's all-time record transfer and has started training with the team.
The most interesting aspect is that he will be presented on Monday in a bullring in front of 15,000 fans, according to Sport.
--
According to La Vanguardia, the Euro 2008 winner with Spain will shortly join a star studded squad at Malaga.
The talented forward from Villarreal will cost Malaga $28 million in what represents a club transfer record. -
ohiobucks1Damnit. OB1 is going to the community shield
One of Manchester United's pleasant surprises from last season, Javier Hernandez was taken to hospital on Wednesday after he suffered a concussion.
That was the reason why he missed the game between his club and the MLS All Stars and why he is set to miss the Community Shield derby against Manchester City.
According to Daniel Taylor of The Guardian, Sir Alex Ferguson said "Chicharito" will be out for two weeks. The FA Community Shield match will be played on August 7 at Wembley Stadium. -
ohiobucks1Sucks to be Bayern
UPDATE: More injury problems for Bayern Munich ahead of the start of the new Bundesliga season in Germany.
During Wednesday's friendly match against AC Milan, Dutch forward Arjen Robben injured his ankle and had to leave the game.
The injury is not as serious at initially feared, but Robben has already been ruled out of the German Cup game against Eintracht Braunschweig next Monday. According to Eurosport, Robben will now hope to recover on time for the Bundesliga opener against Borussian Moenchengladbach on August 7.
--
France international Franck Ribery will likely miss the start of the Bundesliga season with an ankle injury.
According to ESPN Soccernet, the Bayern Munich forward was fortunate to only have his ankle ligaments sprained and not worse. -
ohiobucks1Man City Finally gets their man = Done Deal
UPDATE: "I'm already a City player. I'm happy to be in this club and in this town. Thank you all for the welcome and the reception!" was Sergio Aguero's first ever tweet in English.
With that, he confirmed what we have been announcing on this space for a few days: Sergio Aguero is now a Manchester City player.
--
UPDATE: Manchester City announced their squad ahead of this weekend's Dublin Super Cup and among the forwards, there is one mystery player.
The official squad list names forwards: Mario Balotelli, Edin Dzeko, John Guidetti, Andrea Mancini, plus one other.
All things considered, it wouldn't be too difficult to guess who the player is.
--
UPDATE: We are hours, perhaps minutes away from hearing that Sergio Aguero is a new Manchester City player.
--
Sergio Aguero continues with his personal battle with Atletico Madrid his current employers. The Argentine forward already told the club he was not coming back to play there after Copa America and he kept his promise as he didn't show up at training on Sunday with the rest of his teammates.
We have been following this case since it started and according to Rumor Central sources, Aguero will play for Manchester City next season. -
OSHDon't forget the Miskerud rumors...maybe a move to Manchester to play for the Red Devils?!?!

Laley23Any of you know of the best way to go about getting EPL tickets?
My buddy is getting married and 3 of us are heading to England and want tickets to the Chelsea @ Fulham match (April 9). We went to AAA to start planning the trip and she (travel agent) said she can likely get them, but if we knew of a better or cheaper way to let her know. So I come to the Ohio Chatter....as always. -

I think the best way to get them at face value is to call the club. Or else, youre going to be paying fees for people who mark them up to americans -

I've always just scalped. I went to a few Fulham matches and was always able to talk them down and get decent seats. Arsenal was a different story, I couldn't find them for less than $100 so I just went to the grounds and got hammered a local pub.Laley23;844630 wrote:Any of you know of the best way to go about getting EPL tickets?
