Reds vs Brewers OPENING DAY

  • Ironman92
    Thursday 3/31 2:10 pm

    Edinson Volquez vs Yovani Gallardo

Gallardo was 14-7 last year but many Reds hitters do well against him.

    Phillips 7-17
    Votto 6-16
    Rolen 7-11.....goodness
    Bruce 4-8

    SS...Janish is 2/3 and Renteria is 1/6

C....Hanigan and Hernandez are both just 1/8

    Gomes 2/9...3 K
    Stubbs 1/5...3 K

I predict a kinda high scoring game with the Reds winning 7-5.

As will I. Where are you sitting?

Sold our tix, been to enough opening days and don't feel like sitting through another cold and/or wet one. Still planning on taking off work though to watch, wish Wood was starting.

I am actually excited about Volquez starting, he doesn't strike me as the kind that will let all the hoopla surrounding Opening Day in Cincinnati affect him.
  • dave
Yeah the same thing was said in the playoffs. Either way I'm excited, hoping for a rare OD win.

My only concern is all the issues Volquez had this spring with the Visa situation. I think he'll be great this year, I just don't know if he got enough work this spring to start off strong.

Not sure if we will win game 1, but I am very upbeat about the other games in the series. The Brewers rotation after Gallardo is made out of duct tape.

We better win game one, if not the season is over!

The injury bug has really bit us all at once. Good thing we had all of that depth.

Saw on cincinnati.com that Hermida and Willis were re-assigned to the minors. Hermida wants to try and catch on elsewhere, but Willis accepted the demotion.

Juan Francisco will probably make the team out of spring training because of his ability to play 3B (as well as 1B/OF). Rolen is a little dinged right now.

Volquez got blitzed the thursda or friday by a lineup with only 3, maybe 4 guys who will start on opening day. Think he gave up 10-11 his and 4 or so walks in maybe 5 innings.

The season does not seem to wanna start well with pitchers on the DL and Volquez struggling.

Pretty much everyone is struggling. Wood has been good, Arroyo just giving up a lot of solo homers. Leake is getting rocked and walking people like the end of last year, Maloney and LeCure look like minor leaguers. Like you said, Volquez got shelled and has no control.

Coco has been the lone real bright spot, he's been outstanding

Gonna be in Vegas this Thursday...I like the idea of waking up to catch a ballgame! As huge a Reds fan as I am, I'm thinking my $$$ goes on the Brew Crew. Redlegs haven't won consistently on opening day since the Reagan administration!

shouldn't you be going to sleep in Vegas around first pitch?

We are in Section 111 Row 4! Some pretty sweet seats other than the fact we are on the 3rd base side. We are going down Wednesday night and probably getting into some shenanigans! Where are you sitting?

Nice homework on the lineup, Ironman. Go Reds!

Row one in the view level over on the far corner of the first base side.

To be honest I prefer BF Licking County but living in the city does have its perks. Mainly living 5 miles from GABP.

I'll be there as well. No idea where ill be sitting but looking forward to it. Doesn't look like the weather will be as good as last year but ill gladly trade it for a win!
