2011 Cleveland Cavalier Offseason/Draft

Like already mentioned, I really feel like the Cavs were not interested in any of these 2nd round guys so they traded out. They got their 2 guys they wanted, Thompson and Irving. Successful draft. No need to waste a 2nd round pick on someone who probably isn't gonna pan out (not many of them do) and someone they didn't even feel were any good.
Yep, I believe the Cavs have 16 guys on the roster as is, and Harper wouldn't be a guy to really help us in 4 years.
We took 1 2nd round pick and flipped it into two, plus the picks come after Howard probably leaves Orlando, so they could be high 2nd rounders that may look more appealing for a trade. -
Pick6Skip thinks Irving already has a better shot and is a better passer than Rose

He does but rose is a way better player the way he drives to the basket. -
Hb31187He has a better shot and is a better passer...but you cant teach athleticism or size.

Derrick rose is 1 inch taller and weighs 10 more pounds. Do you know anything about basketball or do you just regurgitate media generated cliches? -
Hb31187This coming from someone who says John Wall sucks.
anyways, the size isnt even 1/4th a factor as the athleticism and quickness that Rose has that you cant just teach a player.
Shouldnt you be commenting away on all the sports websites who list this draft class as historically weak at the top, since it grinds your gears oh so much -

Nice spin...what does any of that have to do with size?
"You can't teach size" yeah, tell that to Chris Paul -

So do you admit you were wrong about not teaching size? Keep in mind that Kyrie is 3 years younger than Rose and probably could eek out an inch and 10 pounds easily in the next couple years.
Do you have a link that displays the athleticism of Derrick Rose being superior to Kyrie Irving?
Honestly, you just need to admit you are wrong before making yourself out to be even more of a fool. -
Hb31187And for every Chris Paul theres probably 3 or 4 players who are looked over because theyre short an inch or 2. Not saying that its a necessity but it sure helps out.

Yeah I do admit that i was wrong about Kyries height, thought he was shorter.
But anyone with 2 eyes can see that Rose is superior when it comes to athleticism. Link or not -

How many times have you watched Irving?
Not saying you're wrong. But the guy was hurt for 80% of the season. How do you know how athletic he is right now, compared to Rose? -

Oh the irony.sleeper;812724 wrote:Do you know anything about basketball or do you just regurgitate media generated cliches? -
Hb31187You honestly think hes as athletic as Rose? or are you just playing the devils advocate ?
And to answer your ? I watched him a few times earlier in the year, the time that stands out to me is against MSU (when he had a dman good game) Hes smooth and quick, not denying that. But as far as explosive athleticism...Rose wins hands down IMO. But its just an opinion -
SportsAndLadyI don't think he's more athletic than Rose..my only point is no one really knows truly how good Irving is, simply because we haven't really seen him, outside of a few games.
And that's scary. And that's why i loved the pick. -
Crimson streakThere's maybe 1 or 2 guys in the NBA that is more athletic than rose. He is a physical freak

Azubuike24Here is the thing that makes Irving tough to gauge.
Unlike John Wall or Derrick Rose, who were top-flight recruits in their respective classes for 2+ years, penciled in as top 3 picks and absolute studs before even enrolling at school, Kyrie Irving was NOT.
In-fact, last year's PG class, although decent, was considered "weak", and when I say weak, in-terms of it not having a guy like Rose or Wall. Is that a negative? No. Most classes don't have guys like that. However, it was debatable all year who the number one point guard was...and it was between Brandon Knight and Josh Selby. Irving was usually considered a notch behind them until the final rankings and when he enrolled at Duke, and then perception was that all 3 were on similar levels.
Fast forward to the season. Knight is a stud from day one, that is clear, but what hurts him is the fact that many don't believe he is the athlete the other 2 are, and also his ability to translate to a pure PG. Selby is quite the opposite of Knight. He's more athletic, there isn't a debate about his position and he's got more potential, but he absolutely tanks it at Kansas, foolishly decides to go pro and ends up a late second round pick. Enter Kyrie Irving. Most feel he's the most complete of the three, more athletic and more of a pure point than Knight, and a better shooter and decision maker than Selby. This is why he was projected a top 3 pick since last fall, but the injury really derailed us getting to truly see why. With that said, through healing, limited action and proving he's healthy, he goes #1. Brandon Knight's stock rose, high enough to put him firmly in the lottery, projected anywhere from #4 to #10 in most mock drafts. We already know Selby's story.
With all of this said, to even begin to compare any of these guys to the insane talents of Derrick Rose or John Wall that we have seen come through is foolish. It will take years of proving otherwise to be put on the same level. People talk about how John Wall was overrated, but then you look at his rookie year on a pitiful team and the numbers he put up and you really have to be amazed. -

Because he's a black hole who doesn't rebound or defend let alone pass, in sum he's not a winner.Midstate01;812816 wrote:Why the **** not??? I love Ellis. If a cava fan didn't want Ellis, they are an idiot!! -

Lol. Nobody who plays in GS is a winner. Rudy gay a winner?? No his team played well once he got hurt. Monte is a scorer!! We could use one. -

What I mean by that is he doesn't have a game that's going to help you win, he's going to score but do nothing else, and that will be a detriment to any team that plans on being competitive. -
Midstate01Well to each his own I guess. But I'd take Monte is a heartbeat!!!

JerseyBuckNew guys with Joe Haden who also attended the presser.

BR1986FBHaden is the man. He may be the face of the Browns franchise. I know that's probably supposed to be McCoy's job but Haden is everywhere doing nothing but good for the city.
