Look, I get it.....He's black. People didn't think of Cam Newton as an NFL QB either. But when you take the time to watch him on film and actually see that he has the physical ability (unlike Colt, for all of the intangibles he has) to make every play that you need an NFL qb to make....it's not hard to see why this guys is going to be good.OQB;976440 wrote:When I think of RGIII I don't think NFL QB.....
My assessments can neither be proven nor disproven until RGIII is actually playing in the NFL. Until then we'll just have to wait and see. -

Gotcha, so Oklahoma, Oklahoma State (ranked#2), TCU (people always talk about how they run a pro style defense), Texas, etc. not elite college teams....Got it lolCommander of Awesome;976442 wrote:Neither do I. He might not have elite talent around him but he doesn't play elite college teams either. -
like_thatNot to mention Barkley plays in a pro style offense with a pro coach.
-
OQBLulz, it has absolutely nothing to do with his skin color.

I'm sure it doesn't...tell me then why you don't think he's an NFL caliber quarterback. I've told you reasons why he is...but have yet to hear a good reason as to why he isn'tOQB;976454 wrote:Lulz, it has absolutely nothing to do with his skin color. -
OQBWhat kind of defense does the BIG 12 play?
-
Y-Town SteelhoundHis "pro coach" was only a pro coach because he was hired by Al Davis...that doesn't count.

I actually think the QB class next year could be as good as this one overall. I think the potential SEC trio of Bray (probable #1 pick), Murray, and Wilson is really solid.Y-Town Steelhound;976428 wrote:Probably a good idea for him considering he might be the #1 QB taken in next year's draft if he were to have another strong season.
But yeah, with this draft class he's definitely behind Luck and Barkley, and he could potentially be #1 next year. -

Doesn't really matter what the Browns did when Butch Davis was running the draft. What is relevant is what Tom Heckert has a history of doing and his history shows he won't take a RB in the 1st round.Y-Town Steelhound;976383 wrote:
Not to mention the Browns clearly don't believe this philosophy as they PASSED on LT to take Gerard fucking Warren.
FWIW I do think Trent Richardson has the ability to be a great running back. -

While I agree that the Big 12 as a whole doesn't play defense in line with the SEC and Big 10, we aren't talking about the mountain west here. Ok, let's play that game then. Here's a list of some other quarterbacks right now in the NFL that have had some success because they are good enough to play the position: Ben Roethlisberger (feasted on MAC defenses), Joe Flacco (from Delaware), Ryan Fitzpatrick (cause they play great D in the Ivy League), Andy Dalton (from the mighty MWC), Philip Rivers (played in that tough ACC lol), Tony Romo (not everyone can play Eastern Illinois' schedule), Sam Bradford (since they don't play defense in the Big 12). So as you can see the FACTS show that your argument falls a little flat.OQB;976458 wrote:What kind of defense does the BIG 12 play? -
OQBAll this is mute until like you said, he is in the NFL playing. Until then it is all speculation, but am I on my knees praying we draft RGIII.....no because I think their are better options out there.

Well now we've gotten down to it. You're black and feel the need to defend him.Y-Town Steelhound;976447 wrote:Look, I get it.....He's black. -

+1. That's just ridiculous.OQB;976454 wrote:Lulz, it has absolutely nothing to do with his skin color. -

Who said anything about being on their knees praying? If the Browns want to improve their QB position and he's on the board, they should take him. Simple as thatOQB;976477 wrote:All this is mute until like you said, he is in the NFL playing. Actually I'm white, notice how my username and avatar is that of a HOCKEY team. lolCommander of Awesome;976480 wrote:Well now we've gotten down to it. You're black and feel the need to defend him. -
OQB
I wasn't talking about you, lol. Just me personally, I am not hoping and praying we draft this guy....if we do ok great. I just think we have other needs or if we do go QB their are better ones to draft than him.Y-Town Steelhound;976484 wrote:Who said anything about being on their knees praying? Nope I didn't, never heard of them. They don't play in the NHL and not sure what that has to do with anything anyways.Y-Town Steelhound;976485 wrote:Actually I'm white, notice how my username and avatar is that of a HOCKEY team. lol -
DeyDurkie5if you think it's cause he is black, then you are retarded. the fact you even brought up his race is retarded in itself.

Only reason is because no one gave a legitimate football reason as to why they didn't think he'd be an NFL quarterback. I brought up specific abilities that are displayed on the football field. You know what the best answer was in rebuttle?DeyDurkie5;976515 wrote:if you think it's cause he is black, then you are retarded. the fact you even brought up his race is retarded in itself.
"When I think of RGIII I don't think of an NFL quarterback".
Wow, what a broad, useless, and vague answer that would even make John Madden embarrassed.
Again, like I said. List actual football reasons as to why you don't think he's good. So far no one has stepped up to the plate in that regard. -

My reasons are that in 2010 he was an undraftable player. His game involved lot of screen passes and quick one read passes to the track stars at Baylor and let them do the work. He comes in this yr and is playing lights out. What happened to make that change? Was it the coaching, scheme, etc...? He reminds me of Colin Kapernick from last season. Long Term project who needs tweak to his throwing motion to be successful in the NFL. I'm always leary of players who go from being terrible to amazing in one season, MUCH like Akali Smith was back in '99. He started what 14 games? He doesn't have the track record of success. He's been in college since 2008, he stays another yr that would be a mistake. He doesn't play in a pro style offense, plays behind the shotgun (like many college QBs I'm aware) doesn't read a defense, he's basically a one read and go player. I think he could develop this to an NFL level eventually but I just don't want a long term project that relies on athleticism playing in a spread offense going against mediocre talent week in week out as my QB that I'm hitching my wagon to for the next 3 season hoping he can develop. Most QBs coming out don't develop, remember that.Y-Town Steelhound;976523 wrote:Only reason is because no one gave a legitimate football reason as to why they didn't think he'd be an NFL quarterback. Running QBs aren't successful long term in the NFL, thats just the way it is. You mention Cam Newton earlier, I must say I was surprised by his early success but that has only translated to 2 wins this season. His stats are also coming back to earth following his first half of the season. Don't expect that rate of fantasy stats to continue. -

Add Fatmarcus Russell to the list as well.Commander of Awesome;976576 wrote:My reasons are that in 2010 he was an undraftable player. BR1986FBJesus....they WANT to get Carlton Mitchell on the field to utilize his height (6'4") and speed but they can't trust him to catch the ball? He's so inconsistent in practice that they will line Seneca Wallace up for a pass before Mitchell. smh
-
DeyDurkie5just put him on the field, fuck it. he'll start catching them eventually. can't hurt to have speed on the field

Agreed. Might as well see what he can do. Everyone else is dropping passes, why discriminate against him?DeyDurkie5;976957 wrote:just put him on the field, fuck it. he'll start catching them eventually. can't hurt to have speed on the field -
OQBMaybe they should see if he can get open...everyone drops passes. Do they think he is going to drop a TD pass? IF he drops it on a third down play it won't matter because they don't throw past the marker.
