Cleveland Browns 2011 Super Awesome In-Season Thread

    gotta love Bruce!

    NFL=boring
    Browns=unwatchable sham of an organization

    Good thing I've got plenty of other things to do on Sundays because if I had to watch the advertisement-fest aka NFL football every week, I'd put my head in the oven. Only death row convicts should be forced to watch the Browns.

    It's a team that has not been in the end zone in the last two home games, or in the first and third quarters of any of the nine games played this season.
    Mind Blowing.

    Mike Holmgren should be ashamed of himself.

    Still can't believe the Alex Smith hand off.

    That, along with the blown coverage/quick snap against the Bengals, were two of the biggest coaching gaffes I've EVER seen.

    I think most of those mocks have the Browns selecting too high. I think the lowest I saw was 7th. I think they'll be top 5. I have no reason to believe they'll win another game.

    Not really a fan of those mocks. I want nothing to do with Coples in the first round. I also don't want richardson. Drafting a RB in the first rd is such a waste imo, especially without an offensive line.

    I see Vontaze isn't projected in the first rd in most of these mocks. Would be a good steal in the 2nd round.

    So you wouldn't use a 1st rounder on an Adrian Peterson, Matt Forte, (young) Tomlinson?
  • Commander of Awesome
    Alshon Jefferies? GTFO with that garbage. Also want nothing to do with that thug pos coples. He's playing his way out of the first round this year IMO.

    AP and Tomlinson sure, but that is hindsight. There are plenty of RBs taken in the first round in this league that haven't done shit, and plenty of RBs taken later that have had success. We have already went through this with wasting a pick on William Green.

    As I have said before RBs are dime a dozen, and they only go as far as their line. Also, with the exception of a few, they have short life spans in the NFL, and a short period of time where they are running at their best.
  • Commander of Awesome
    RBs aren't worth the first round pick imo because of their life span. Look at Chris Johnson. Best RB in the league for 2 yrs, now a bum. Not worth the investment.

    i find it hard to believe we would go defensive line in the 1st round this year after using our first and second round pick on d line. and im def ifffy on the trent richardson in the first. i like the clayborne in the first though with an offensive player

    I like him a lot.

    May have been mentioned but with him falling out of favor and being a fairly high Heckert pick, what are the chances Desean Jackson gets a "fresh start" in Cleveland next year?

    I was thinking the same thing. Would be awesome.

    We all know Cleveland isnt going to pay anybody big $$$..wasnt their biggest FA signing this season Usama Young? LOL
    Also, BR, weren't you the one in favor of building through the draft and not spending money on bigger named FAs?

    Thread title needs changed as well, nothing awesome at all about Cleveland's season.

    I am for building through the draft but Heckert will, eventually, add some impact free agents when the time is right. A player like Desean Jackson would eliminate any need for a burner type WR. They also likely wouldn't need to use a 1st rounder on that position and could concentrate on other areas of need.

    I agree completely with the "build through the draft" philosophy. My take on Heckert's inactivity, this year, is that the front office realized they'd suck and there was no sense in making any kind of significant move. That coupled with the fact that he has a few young players at positions he may want to evaluate/upgrade (QB, WR, OL).

    A couple things in regards of Mock Drafts.

    Mock drafts during the NFL season only go by the current NFL draft order.

    As of Week 9, Cleveland had 11 as their lowest pick. That will likely change with the way they are playing, but NFL Draft analysts aren't going to even try and guess the draft order.

    On the Trent Richardson pick:

    You take BPA, Richardson is a Top 10 player, and in my mind a Top 5 player.

    Yes, RB's have a short life span. When they hit 30, they usually decline. That gives the 21 year old Richardson roughly 8-9 seasons to be a stud.

    He's not just another RB. He's legit as RB's come. He's every bit as good as Peterson was coming out of Oklahoma, and more experienced, with less injury history.

    T-Rich is a safe pick.

    Thanks for putting my latest mock draft in those links. :D

    I will say one thing. I saw a stat where since Heckert came aboard he has turned over the roster to the tune of 23 are no longer in football, 7 are on another team and playing limited to no snaps and 12 are playing minutes with a new team. In other words, 30 of the 53 man roster that Heckert inherited, or 56%, are worthless in 2011.

    Nobody WANTS to hear it but making this roster "credible" won't happen overnight. He's getting there.
