BlanketI like it.
-
coyotes22I like it to, just sucks I dont have any of the three systems it works on. I still have the PS2 i bought in 2002. Would have loved to have gotten this game.
-
GoChiefsHope AcTivision does as good of a job as EA did. Looks like another 'no beer sponsors' on the cars though. The #2 looked to have 'Penske' instead of 'Miller Lite' on it.

ts1227Some of this was announced a while back, but more articles are surfacing lately talking about its impact.
NASCAR reaches agreement to promote ethanol during the season... Green Flags are now sponsored and you'll hear a lot of "American Ethanol Green Flag" thrown around, as that will be used every time it is thrown.
Also, the cars are running E15, so they will talk about cars filling up on "Sunoco Green E15" in the pits. Typical gas we use is about 10%

Interesting. I doubt NASCAR will ever get to the level of 85% ethanol, which is essentially methanol, the preferred racing fuel of 95% of race cars. Not as efficient as gasoline, but does provide performance advantages and is safer. -
Speedofsand16 year old Sam Beasley of Leroy, Ohio beat Jamie McMurray and AJ Allmendinger among others in the WKA World Championship Kart races at Daytona.
http://www.news-journalonline.com/racing/local-racing/2010/12/30/fittipaldi-family-returns-to-dis.html
Emerson Fittipaldi was there with two grandsons, and Scott Goodyear's 14 year old son is a rising hot shoe.
Beasley, Quinlan thrive on final day
Beasley left the track with his head held high after beating McMurray and Allmendinger in both his finals.
"How about that kid beating Allmendinger and McMurray in a go-kart race?" Chitwood said. "He can leave here and tell people he beat the Daytona 500 champion in a karting event.
"That's fantastic. What a great story. Those are the stories that happen at Daytona."
January Fan Fest full of top names

Red SaulHard to believe it is a little over a month away until Daytona!
Seems like the season just ended. -
GoChiefsBecause it did. One of the bad things about NASCAR. The season is too damn long.
-
Red SaulI agree.
They need to chop it it half and make Daytona the last race intstead of the 1st.
Also heard something a couple weeks ago about their might be some changes to the chase. Something about a head to head system was being mentioned. -
GoChiefsEh, moving it to the last race would take away from it. That's why it's such a big deal, because it's the first race of the season. If you want to move it to the last race and have it mean something, you would have to get rid of the July 4th race at Daytona and only have one race a year there. That's definitely not happening.
According to France & Helton, there is no talk of a head to head. I'm totally against any kind of head to head elimination style. Another guy screws up, he could take you out. You could lose and it would be no fault of your own. The biggest change you will probably see will be the chase expanding to 15 drivers instead of just 12 and/or they reset the points AGAIN with 3 races to go. -
SpeedofsandThe smell of Speedweeks is in the air. Rolex 24 testing this weekend.
http://www.news-journalonline.com/racing/rolex-24/2011/01/07/sportscars-ready-to-hit-new-track.html
"This test is one of my favorite events of the year because it's so laid-back, but certainly, there's competition."
At last count, there were 17 Daytona Prototypes and 30 GTs entered in the 24-hour marathon event. Everyone expects a quicker race pace because of the new asphalt.
"It will be different because we'll get more grip with track," Barbosa said. "All the old reference points at the track are gone, so we have to re-adjust ourselves and find new reference points." -
Speedofsandthat is one hot Ferrari
JOHNSON TESTS: Defending, five-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson shook off a little bit of racing rust by testing Bob Stallings' No. 99 Chevrolet Riley Daytona Prototype at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday. Johnson, who won the 2006 Daytona 500 in his No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevy, was told only two drivers have won the 500 and Rolex 24 At Daytona -- A.J. Foyt and Mario Andretti.
"That would be something special," Johnson said. "I love this series. I love this race team. I have developed some great friendships here. I truly respect what Bob has done building this race team."
"I'm excited about the race. I certainly hope to make that list of guys and win the Rolex 24. We've come awfully close in the past. This year the team has worked hard to get us in position to win."
The Boy Scouts of America held a Scout's Day patch event at the Speedway this weekend. About 1,500 scouts camped out on the east end of the track's infield on Friday and Saturday nights. The scouts break camp today.

Red SaulThis comes from a yahoo.com article from the 7th
In November, Brian France all but guaranteed the Chase would get its third makeover since its inception in 2004. And after seeing the TV ratings for this year’s “greatest ever” Chase, which were down more than 20 percent for seven of the 10 races, you have to figure that France will be compelled to make some sort of change.
Exactly what those changes will be remains to be seen, though an announcement could come later this month.
Potential changes included expanding the field from 12 to 15 drivers, altering the seeding process and implementing some form of an elimination format -
GoJPM!Excited to see Juan Pablo Montoya and Graham Rahal, my two fav drivers, running together on Ganassi's team for the 24 Hours at Daytona.
BTW, JPM is the only driver to win the Indy 500, Monaco Grand Prix, and the 24 Hours of Daytona. -

GoChiefsNo more Cup drivers competing for the Nationwide Championship. About time. They now must select one Championship that they are going to be competing for.
"Drivers in NASCAR's three national series will have to elect a single championship to chase in 2011, eliminating the ability of drivers such as Brad Keselowski, Carl Edwards and Paul Menard -- who were full-time double-dippers in 2010 -- to chase two championships at once. NASCAR has scheduled a "competition update" on Jan. 21 with NASCAR president Mike Helton and vice president for competition Robin Pemberton as part of the "Preseason Thunder" Sprint Cup test session at Daytona International Speedway. NASCAR spokesman Kerry Tharp declined to comment on the change in 2011 license applications Monday except to say, "I'm sure we can answer all your questions at our competition update." But when Kenny Wallace picked up his 2011 NASCAR competition, membership and license application last Saturday while taking a break from a Grand-Am Rolex Series test at Daytona, he knew at least one rumor was true. Wallace stopped on his way to the U.S. Post Office on Monday to tear open his license application and read the news. "The brand-new license forms that are out, there's a box and in it, it states that you have to mark -- put an X -- what championship you're running for," Wallace said, quoting his application. "A driver will only be permitted to earn driver championship points in one (1) of the following three series: NASCAR Sprint Cup, NASCAR Nationwide or NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Please select the series in which you would like to accumulate driver championship points. Choose one." -
SpeedofsandGibson also said it’s his view that the new fueling system in use on pit stops could have a big impact on the race.
“I think that’s the biggest thing that’s going to play into the race,” he said. “That’s really going to slow our pit stops down. It’s going to be – do you give up the time on pit road to get the tank completely full, or do you drop the jack and know you’re not completely full and roll the dice on short pitting.
“That whole thing is going to be a huge hiccup in how that race plays out. Gassing is going to be the weakest link on the pit stops now. You’re going to have to figure out a way to get the car as full as you can in the least amount of time. The guy who leaves a gallon out might pick up a second on the racetrack, but you might be gambling on the race staying green and making the fuel last.”

I didn't know the new cans were so slow to fuel a car. Must be from the Big10. -

SpeedofsandRacing world helps girl get surgery after tragic accident
http://www.news-journalonline.com/news/local/east-volusia/2011/01/11/racing-world-helps-girl-get-surgery-after-tragic-accident.html
The story spread through the racing community until it reached Betty Jane France, widow of NASCAR's former president and CEO Bill France Jr., and Halifax was approached about the surgery.
Loessin said he couldn't say no.
"You can't look in the mirror the rest of your life and remember the day you lost your mother," he said.

NASCAR goes to smaller plate at Daytona: NASCAR reportedly will down-size restrictor plate holes for next week's Sprint Cup Goodyear tire test at Daytona International Speedway. The new size will be 29/32 of an inch. The old size was 30/32 of an inch. The result will be less power and, presumably, slower speeds. The track surface at Daytona was repaved since last year's summer race. In earlier tests [January], the new surface, which is smoother and stickier, produced higher speeds [197mph].(RaceToday)(1-13-2011) -
GoChiefsHave we seen the last of Sam Hornish Jr. in a stock car? Looks like he's out at Penske Racing.
"Sam Hornish Jr. will not be in anything Penske-owned in Daytona. He is basically done. Penske Racing downsized not only Hornish's NASCAR Sprint Cup organization, but also its Nationwide Series crew. [Penske] cannibalized the #77 crew of Hornish and what was left of the #12 Nationwide crew to make up the best for one with Brad Keselowksi's organization, whatever they were lacking in Nationwide, but also to beef up what is now the #2 car for Keselowski for the Cup season." -
GoChiefsWonder if this will result in smaller plates during the race too?

In January, if they were pushing speeds near 200 mph, that was with only the 18 cars testing. So with 43 cars, you can assume the speeds would be even faster. -
GoChiefsLooks like Chevy's still trying to make a buck off the Dale Sr. brand. Coming out with a bunch of Sr. edition Camaro's and even a Kerry Earnhardt truck series.
"Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet 2011 E Series Announcement"
Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet is proud to officially announce the production of the 2011 Intimidator Camaro. Not since 2001 has this execution of style and speed been released into the hands of drivers nationwide. Unlike other editions, which are out there mired in the middle of the pack trying to gain position, the Intimidator Camaro carries the name that is synonymous with charging to the front. This car lives up to that name in every aspect. This supercharged, production model makes great use of NASCAR style and speed. Paying homage to the days when the NASCAR race car and the car you drove weren’t all that different. With an expected first quarter release date, keep your fire suits ready and your pit crew on standby because this machine will be on track soon!
But we are not stopping with that! Our second announcement is the reintroduction of the Dale Earnhardt Legacy Package. Three different Dale Earnhardt cosmetic/performance packages will be available on most new vehicles. You don’t have to spend thousands trying to take your run of the mill new car and make it something special anymore. Now you have the opportunity to purchase your new vehicle with the style and performance that Dale Earnhardt himself would have been proud of. The best thing about this package is it will just cost you a little over invoice price. Dale’s fans were always the blue collar, working man and woman. So this package is designed to be the E for all!
Thirdly we re-introduce the Dale Earnhardt Signature Series. A collection of one off, themed vehicles to be built throughout the year. Vehicles that blend innovation with creativity to produce machines that will blow your mind. Much like our founder did for you every Sunday on the track. These Signature Editions will be our testing grounds for new developments, new design angles and just pure, raw passion for racing and automotive all wrapped up in extremely valuable, collectible vehicles.
Finally, in the spirit of innovation, our last project of the year will be a highly sought out present for every truck enthusiast. It is no secret that Dale Earnhardt was an avid outdoorsman. Well his passion for the outdoors was passed along, in great amounts, to his firstborn son, and racing veteran, Kerry Earnhardt. In a collaboration with Kerry Earnhardt, Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet will be producing a history making truck series under the Kerry Earnhardt name. These trucks will be equipped for the outdoorsman and will be like no other. Keep an eye out for details on the Kerry Earnhardt project as the year progresses.
With all of these announcements of our upcoming Earnhardt Series vehicles we have no other choice but to dub 2011 as Year E. So keep your spotter on our websites, facebook, twitter, youtube and flickr accounts for released information, pictures or video. And always remember, “Intimidate, don’t Imitate.”
Blacked out looks sweet as fuck.

GoChiefsI'm not a fame of the Camaro's..but I must say..the Sr. Hall Of Fame edition Camaro's are just plain bad ass.

GoChiefsGlad to see Brian Vickers back in the car.
"Brian Vickers, who was forced to take a medical leave of absence from the Sprint Cup Series last spring, planned to make his first laps in one of his Red Bull Racing Team stock cars Monday at Walt Disney World Speedway in Orlando, FL. Vickers posted on his Twitter feed, "Just got to Walt Disney World Speedway. Going to make the first laps of 2011 this afternoon -- Can't wait!" And just after 12:30 pm, apparently after making his first run, Vickers posted, "Damn that felt good. Everything fits just like I left it." Red Bull officials were not immediately available for comment about the test on the oddly-shaped one-mile oval that was used in the late 1990s for a couple Truck Series races, along with IndyCar Series events.
UPDATE: Brian Vickers on his first day back in the #83 - from a testing session in Orlando, FL, 1.10.11: "Today was just a huge weight off of my shoulders. Not only for myself, but for the guys on the team. There were so many rumors, assumptions and speculations about my health and status for 2011, but today hopefully put all of them to rest. It felt damn good to get back in the car. Everything fit. Everything felt right. Everything was just the way I left it last May. Just to fire the car back up was awesome, and then to punch it for the first time was such a great feeling. We are here to get more seat time for me and so I can back in groove with the road crew. I don't think we are going to learn anything ground-breaking today, but it's really just a great chance for us all to work together, and the bottom line for me is just to get back in a race car and log some laps.""
