Wasn't the drivers. Kurt Busch couldn't have won in those shitboxes. Not the same chassis and engine programs during that time. Penske's resources were much better than Ganassi's too.

Don't worry JPM, Juan Pablo fans aren't the ONLY fans that blame their driver's shitty performance on everyone and everything but the driver. ;)

Jeremy Mayfield will be on NASCAR's Race Hub tonight at 7pm on SPEED. That could be an interesting interview.

That #47 Clorox/Kleenex/Cottonelle/Bush's Baked Beans Toyota Camry looks fast. I'll be surprised if it doesn't take the 500.
  • GoChiefs
When the hell did Bush's Baked Beans become a sponsor of the #47?

Nope, I'm a JPM fan since his breakthrough into CART. He has really fallen off since he had his first kid, really. It seems he lost that fire, desire, risk taking, etc. that made him great in CART anf F-1. It is sad, because he is still in my view one of the best drivers out there in the world. I miss the old JPM that took M. Schumacher to the grass years ago.

    Fuckin' Toyota's.

"An explosion early Friday rocked the headquarters of Joe Gibbs Racing, causing significant damage to JGR's engine department. There were no injuries reported. According to a team spokesperson, around 9:00am/et, members of the engine department were running a routine test on one of the Gibbs team's two engine dynamometers. Dynamometers are machines used to run an engine through its paces to measure power and performance under the strain of race conditions. A source within Gibbs' team says that it was during this test session that one of the engines exploded, resulting in a fire that significantly damaged the dynamometer on which is was mounted and caused at least some damage to a second dynamometer located in an adjacent room. The JGR spokesperson confirmed that the fire was short-lived and was contained within the two-room area of the engine dyno department, which is part of the team's 235,000-square-foot facility [Huntersville, NC]. The main shop floor and second-floor offices continued business as usual shortly after the initial fire alarm sounded. The cause of the explosion was not immediately clear. Roughly an hour after the explosion, team members received clearance from firefighters to re-enter the shop to assess the damage. The JGR spokesperson described most of the damage as being caused by smoke and water from the brief firefighting effort. The engine that exploded was not in the team's plans for Daytona Speedweeks, which begin next Friday, but the engine mounted on the second damaged dynamometer was. The initial concern for the second engine wasn't fire damage, but rather water damage."

"Some previous reports had #6-David Ragan of Roush Fenway Racing as a free agent after this season. According to Roush Fenway Racing, the UPS sponsorship is up at the end of 2011, however, Ragan's contract extends throught 2014."

Wow, I hope it was Kyle's engine and not for Denny.

And if you haven't read Mikey's book yet...get it. It's about getting to Daytona, and all about that fateful day.

Welp, since it's the 10th anniversary of his death, and not much talk going on in NASCAR until next week, what are some of your favorite Dale Sr. moments?

Of course, the '98 Daytona 500...last 5 laps.

Seeing everyone line-up on pit road was incredible. Just goes to show what he meant to the sport and what everyone thought of him.

And then his Victory Lane celebration.

Another obvious, the "I didn't mean to turn him around, just meant to rattle his cage." Yeah right. Lol

"Pass In The Grass"..which always made me wonder how the come up with that, since he didn't freakin' pass anyone.

Not a 'Sr.' moment, per say, but that happened because of Sr's. death. The NASCAR community lost the greatest in 2001, but because of that, it was one of the most memorable seasons I can ever remember. A lot of great moments during that season.

Kevin Harvick winning at a photo finish against Gordon at Atlanta in just his 3rd race in Cup after replacing Sr. in the #3 Goodwrench Chevrolet.

Teams coming out on pit road like they did for Sr. after the '98 500. The only 2 times I can recall that ever happening.

The very next race after Sr's death at Rockingham, Steve Park wins the race in the #1 Pennzoil Chevrolet owned by Dale Earnhardt Incorporated.
