Blue Jackets season thread

Jackets take it 2-1 in Dallas behind goals from Calvert and Nasher and outstanding goalie work from Mase.
    8-3-1 over the last 13.
Next game is Weds vs the Kings.

Mason was on his game in the 3rd, with 2 awesome saves within a 2 minute stretch.
Team is playing great, 5 straight road wins, 7 games with points.
Problem is, they are in the stacked West and need to continue to play great if they want to climb the standings.
Sometimes, I wish the Jackets were in the East haha. (They'd be 7th right now)

Nash had a great goal and Mason played like he was in his rookie form.

They need 3 pts in the next 2 games. If they can do that I might start drinking the kool-aid again.

I'm curious what moves they'll make by the end of the month

I haven't heard any rumors yet, though I wouldn't be surprised to hear Broussard's name attached to some trades.

I say Voracek before Brassard. Brassard is playing great right now. Voracek....meh. Voracek could bring something worthwhile in return.
  • gerb131
Nobody out there really unless its for 20 games and the Jackets arent giving up Voracek or Brass for that.
  • TedSheckler
They could give up Jake. He's a RFA after this year.
  • gerb131
They could but it seems to me Jake could be a 30 goal scorer if IF he could ever finish his chances I don't think you give on that yet. IMO he gets too close to the blue before he pulls the trigger.

BTW what did you think about Foresbergs 2 game return? Then he retires again. I thought he looked pretty good...

What does everyone think about the presence of the new Arch City Army? Will it finally liven up the atmosphere at Nationwide for the long run?

I have no idea what that is.

I would expect a Blue Jackets fan to know what that is

Sounds good. Not sure if it can translate, but doesn't hurt to try.
Also, I'd suggest a name change. I know the arches are for the Short North, but maybe the Union Army or something like that is a little better because many might think St. Louis.

I hadn't heard anything about. I haven't been to a game since December so.......

Columbus had the nickname "The Arch City" way before St. Louis built their arch. It was for the wooden arches that used to be on High Street. I do agree that the Union Army sounds better.

It's relatively new, only been around for a few games so far but the numbers are growing. I think they're expecting to be more of a force next season after they promote it a little more and gain new members. Basically the crazy motherfuckers that make up The Nordecke in Crew stadium decided to bring the same type of intensity to the upper deck of Nationwide Arena. Some people (mostly old people who like to sit on their hands the whole game) don't like it but I think it's a blessing for the Jackets and the arena.

They chant, sing, etc. like a soccer fan section which is actually what a lot of the hockey fans in places like Switzerland and Norway do.

Nothing compares with Nordecke. I sat there for a Fire and a Revs game and it was nutty. First time I had my 5yr old and were a few rows to the side I was like not again, 2nd time we left him at home.

    Game against LA tonight.
  • gerb131
1-1 after 1 with Garon in goal and CBJ goal scored by Voracek.
We lost Umberger for the game due to Stoll being dirty and sticking out his leg on a check on RJ. Brassard is also lost with a hand injury for the game after catching an errant stick it looked like. Either of them miss any length of time and that would suck.

2-2 after 2 with Nash scoring for the CBJ. Umberger came back on for a shift but I haven't seen him since....

Watching the game, 3-2 LA with 15 mins left... Common jax...
  • gerb131
3-3 as Russell tied it up but they lose in a shootout 4-3 Kings.
Very important point. Back Friday vs the Hawks
  • ptown_trojans_1
A win would have been great, since LA is 4 points ahead, but a point is better than nothing.
I wasn't a fan of Garon in net, never seemed in control.
