You said you would win as many titles as possible in the next three years with the Cavs. That number would be ZERO. If you think Cleveland with LeBron is a more viable championship contender than Miami with LeBron, you are clueless. -
krazie45Well at this current point they are considering they have 4 players on their roster. I would think they'd get tired in a 7 game series LOL.
Anyways, I love you haters talking about "Cleveland should appreciate LeBron blah blah blah". Cleveland gave appreciation for LeBron. Every time they cheered him when he played, every shirt they bought, every jersey they bought, every shoe they bought, every all star game they voted him for, they showed their appreciation for LeBron. Cleveland's obligation to appreciate LeBron ended when he decided to leave the Cavs much like his obligation to play for them ended with his contract. -
I Wear PantsI'll say it again. If Lebron doesn't owe Cleveland anything (even if I'd say he owed them/us some courtesy) then Cleveland sure as hell doesn't owe Lebron anything at all.

I agree. "Cleveland should appreciate Lebron" crap is such a joke. This is what fans do. How often do you see fans cheering for a guy after they left their team for another? It happens with players and coaches. Rich Rodriguez left WV for Michigan. Do you really think the people of WV should appreciate what RR did for them? Should Tenn fans appreciate what Kiffin did for them before he ditched them for USC? Fucker had to be rushed out of town before the mob got to him. Think Packer fans appreciate Favre? This idea that fans should appreciate Lebron is a joke. Gimme a fucking break. Thats not how sports work -

Great post. -
ricolaDan Gilbert i think is quite comparable to Mark Cuban. A very rich billionaire who is very passionate about his team, and will spend a lot of money to get a championship. Many/most people outside of their teams' fans don't like them and think they are nut cases. but their teams' fans love them, and for the most part the guys that play for them love them, beacuse they know they will spare no expense to get what they want. they might come off at times as pouty and whiny to the outsider, but the fans take that as passionate, and LOVE it! Gilbert got more points from cavs fans after his rant last night than he made in the previous 5 years. Fans don't care if their owner is nutty, if he spends major bucks on their team! I doubt many players are not going to play in Cleveland because of Gilbert, knowing, if anything he'll overspend on anything and everything to get what he wants. it hasn't panned out for him or Cuban yet, but sooner or later, if for nothing than blind luck, those billions will get the right guys in place.
cavs fans really could care less what anyone else thinks of Gilbert---he endeared himself to most of us last night , being politically incorrect and saying what nearly evrry cavs fan was feeling. And now we have some solace in the fact that most of the country, especially those in NY, chicago, and LA hate lebron as much as we do, cuz his huge ego shafted them as well. -

He Lebron and Bosh could win 5 titles together, and James/Bosh will be his bitch because he will always have one more than they do. Just like Shaq will now forever be Kobe's bitch because he has one less ring than he does. It's just the way it is. -

The perfect pro owner is one who has an ego and unlimited funds. It would also be nice if he knew what he didn't know.ricola;418436 wrote:.... A very rich billionaire who is very passionate about his team, and will spend a lot of money to get a championship. ... -
newarkcatholicfanIf this was Jerry Jones who had done this I am betting all...well most of you who are giving this owner a thumbs up would be all over Jones for it.

Kobe's won more rings without Shaq than Shaq won without Kobe, and lead his team to more finals appearances without Shaq than Shaq has without Kobe.please..Kobe was Shaq's bitch
Shaq's rap about "Kobe couldn't do it without me" was funny when he was ringless still and licking his wounds after the Boston series in 08, but after the finals this year Shaq pretty much conceded defeat in their eternal struggle over who was the dominant superstar between the 2 of them. -
KR1245Guess Lebron is pretty pissed about this.......
also looks like Lebron James never talked to Joe Tait in his 7 years with the Cavs -
dwccrewGilbert is a fool. He comes off looking like an idiot asshole. Calling Lebron out on how he quit and how he won't win a title before Cleveland. Then why were you trying so hard to keep him, Dan? Fucking moron. Gilbert is acting like a high school girl that was dumped for a better looking chick. He's probably mostly pissed that is franchise is worth about half of what it was with Lebron there. Fuck you Gilbert!

Of course this is it. Is there really anything else to be pissed about? -

Gilbert could care less what you or anybody else says. He did this for the fans of Cleveland that felt like they were stabbed in the back. Majority of the Cavs fans LOVE him for doing this, its what we needed to hear. Instead of putting out some PC bullshit he let people know how he feels. Give Lebron a big ol 'Fuck you" the same way he did to the fans and city of Cleveland on natl tv. -
jpake1Oh no, Miami now has a curse!!!! GTFO Dan Gilbert.

I just hope our fans are understanding when the already tough task of getting players to come here becomes almost impossible because of it.
I have been reading that while popular with fans, players around the league are really turned off by what Gilbert did because no one wants to be the next guy to have his dirty laundry aired by the owner when they leave. Why would anyone with a choice ever willingly come into that situation?
I am happy he stood up for the fans, but it is starting to feel like it might have been a case of cutting off your nose to spite your face.
Like I said earlier, Gilbert put himself out there which is great. I can however totally see how humiliating it will be for him when Lebron inevitably wins a Championship, and finals MVP in the next few years and makes sure to pick up the mic and ask Gilbert to "tell him how his curse tastes." Because I can absolutely see that coming, and Gilbert will look like a chump which is too bad. -

Kobe can't win without Derek Fisher... -

I think everyone has finally realized that Kobe is the bigger person is this one. Ever since Shaq left, Kobe has literally said nothing about him. For all the shit Shaq talked, little barbs such as calling last years Cavs team "The best he's played on", Kobe said nothing...
Except "I have one more than Shaq"
Since LA, Shaq has been with 3 teams, and he had 2 UGLY exits. -
captvernJust like Lebron said yesterday, individuals become superstars but teams win championships. Kobe couldnt win a tittle without having a great team around him. That goes for everyone. Just because Kobe had better teams after the split up than Shaq does not mean that he is better. They both won with great teams.People lift Kobe up to be the GOAT, but he couldnt do anything wiht out having an All star caliber team around him . How Lebron made it to the finals with the team that he had is remarkable.
-
Trueblue23He made it because the East was terrible. The Pistons were the only other good team, and they were at the end of their run.

Hopefully Gilbert is done having his little pity party, like a previous Cavalier fan poster said... Cleveland has a hard enough time attracting free agents, now they have this.
I don't agree with what Lebron did, in fact it was downright dirty. But you have to keep your composure. You Cavs fans have every right to be upset about all this, Gilbert does too, but he just can't let it be known and you don't air out your dirty laundry to the media. He would have been much better off, thanking Lebron for all the money he brought to Gilbert and the city and wished him luck. Take the high road. Now because of his tizzy Cleveland looks bad. The media is having fun with all this. Like I said earlier, they really look like a 2nd rate organization. -

He didn't own the team when Miller and Boozer left.
