I actually think the Lakers match up really well with the Heat in a potential finals, and fully expect some expect encounters the next few years.

    Fuck outta here...

I'd rather see a REAL team like the Lakers win it every year than some "friends" join up with each other and ring chase...

What does that even mean? Real team...."friends" join up?

And to answer your question from the other thread....I enjoy calling people out when they spew nonsense.

So that fact that the players went into it getting along makes it bullshit?

You get the fuck out of here. Lakers a REAL team now? Yes they are, IMO. But this board had a VEEEERRRRYYY different opinion when they first created that team, then signed Artest. People fucking hated with they knew they couldn't conquer. Now that a bigger beast may have been created, the Heat are the bad guys. They did what they needed to do to put themselves in a situation to be the best. No pair of two studs was enough to beat the Lakers. Now this team MAY have what it takes to take those guys down.
  • jpake1
These guys would have loved to be the man like MJ was. That all went down the shitter when the Celtics and Lakers created HOF rosters that NOBODY thought was possible. No longer could it be a stud and a good player and role players. No longer could two studs and nice players work. The stage had been set by the Lakers and Celtics.

    Uh, yes...

This obviously has been an inside deal for 3 years.

    Similar contracts: Check

LeBron changing his number to 6: Check... Ironically, 23 is retired in Miami...

Pat Riley, who LOVES winning suddenly tanks and sheds roster/cap space? hmmm...

Yeah, I don't agree at all with the way this has went down.

A REAL team is one that is put together through trade, FA signings and draft picks... Not one where three friends, two of which happen to be top level superstars decide to pact together and ring chase with eachother...

Oh my god.. You don't honestly buy into this bullshit do you? Boston is good, but not that good to where you need a "Super team" to beat them.. Are you fucking serious with this shit?

Even so, this further proves the NBA has gone into the shitter.

Enjoy your super team, on the other hand, let us all vent. I'm sure you have a Miami board to frequent, no?

    Fuck Miami.

We beat the Big 3 this year, do it again next year.

The beauty for Miami is that from the year on out, they will have the Mid-level to bring in a solid player to help expand the talent base of the roster. Two years from now that team will be more of a force to be reckon with than they already are.

The Celtics and Lakers are the only teams in the league that have a chance right now to stand up to them. The Celtics through just shear toughness and veteran presence, and the Lakers will have Kobe's force of will as well as a huge front line that will give Miami trouble now and into the future.
  • hoops23
Also, the national media seems to agree with me..

they are RIPPING LeBron apart right now. Basically because he's truly a bitch.

YAY! A fucking 3 team race in a league of 30 teams.. So much fun to watch! give me the NFL any day over this bullshit.

I guess the good thing is, the fucking lame ass bandwagon Cleveland fans will be out of the Q now.. Tix will go down in price.

Seriously, once the Lakers are old and Kobe breaks down, Miami may run the league..

They don't have LeBron's bird rights though, and depending on Bosh, they may not have his either.. So financially, this may only work for a few seasons.

Well no big time FA wanted to go to Cleveland and they have no draft picks and they obviously don't have what it takes to win it all right now. LBJ saw the light and went with it. He moved on to bigger and better things.

    LOL.

How could a big time FA want to come to Cleveland? We were over the cap.

None of that matters.. I'd be pissed if he went to Chicago or NY, but I AT LEAST could have RESPECTED that move... I CAN'T respect going to a team with Wade and Bosh, especially when all signs point to it being a set up deal for a couple years now...

Ring chasing.. That's all it is. Instead of building his own legacy, he went to join somebody else's..

And trust me, the media are the people who paint the picture, not me... But they are having a field day with LeBron right now, and will continue to do so.. I know Skip is going to light into him tomorrow..

SI, CBS, Yahoo, etc.. All of them are killing LeBron right now. His "brand" and "image" that he cared so much about is taking a MAJOR hit.

    But hey, life goes on..

Congrats jpake, enjoy you're "super team"...

I'll enjoy my hometown team win 20-30 games the next couple of seasons.. Maybe we can go the OKC route and get lucky...

Wow, really. You're such a bitter dude it's sad. Get the fuck out. Aren't you one of the guys that called people stupid for thinking him changing jerseys had anything to do with anything? But now that you're all bitter you're changing your tune. The Cavs couldn't put enough around him, get over it. He TRIED to get Bosh in Cleveland, but Cleveland wasn't enough for him nor any other player. Blame the FO for fucking the team up. They took big chances, and failed. This is what happens when you fail. You lose LBJ. Yes Pat loves winning.. championships. He wasn't anywhere near that so he cut ties with stuff to get a lot better. This was his dream, this was not set in stone for the past 3 yeas. What if the Cavs won the past two titles? He still had plans to leave? Look at what you're writting. You've lost your fuckin' mind. I can't say I'm surprised. I knew this would be epic.. you guys LOOOOVVVVEEEEDDD LeBron.

That's the attitude. LA is the team to beat, plain and simple. That is a BEAST of a roster. Miami has their work cut out for them. When the finals goes 6/7 games, people will realize the Heat needed to make a team like this to compete with LA. I think you see LA get better now. I honestly think they kinda coasted the past 2 years. Now they know there is a dog as big as them and as hungry... there is no time to coast. I hope they meet up.

You obviously need a damn good team to beat them. The "best regular season" team couldn't do it. A star studded Orlando team couldn't do it. The NBA is going to a place I don't like, but nothing I can do about it as a fan. I'll still watch because I love watching them play. I do have Miami boards, but I like it over here. I'm here to stay!

jpake i dont know how LA coasted when they barely beat boston.the great one shot 6-24 in game 7 against a smaller and older guy then him.

Well, traded Beasley for draft picks and to clear cap room. Already have signed the top 3 Free Agents of this summer and now have a little more cap space to fill out the roster with solid role players kind of like Mike Miller. They also had 3 draft picks and they got some pretty decent pieces if Pittman can get in shape. Does this not add up to your definition of a REAL team or is it different because the Cavs were burned?

I wonder what happens when LeBron wins a title in the next couple years? Does Gilbert sell the team for lying to Clevelanders?

That quote was very embarrassing, and he will probably regret having said it considering there is zero chance of it happening.

I can just imagine the Heat winning a title in the next year or 2 and after Lebron is done holding up the Finals MVP trophy asking Gilbert to "tell him how his curse tastes!"
