Stanley Cup Playoffs, Eastern Semi-Finals: Pittsburgh Penguins vs Montreal Canadiens
-
rock_knutneGod dammit......puck goes off Letangs leg and right in to the goal, 3-2 Montreal. Have you ever seen a luckier team than the Habs?
-
rock_knutneDid I just hear Doc Emrick right? Montreal fans showering the ice with debris?
-
rock_knutneDon't know how the Pens didn't score at the beggining of that last PP, wide open net and they couldn't cash in.
-
ptown_trojans_1Habs defense and Halak are playing great.
-
rock_knutneMontreal takes game four 3-2. Lucky win.
-
ptown_trojans_1That was the Habs team I saw here in DC. If they play like that, I can see it going 7. Amazing team defense that is smothering, allowing no clear shots and Halak is on his game.
Pens had all the chances, just like the Caps did, but could not finish. -
rock_knutne^^^^^LUCKY! The goal that went off of Letang was pure garbage and the Pens missed numerous open nets. Pittsburgh needs to take it to another gear because they have done more than enough to win all four games. How many times is Hal Gill going to be allowed to interferw ith Crosby? IMO, start taking the body hard because outside of Gill, the rest of this Montreal team are a bunch if midgtes!
-
Nonshucks
series tied 2-2
Pens are still 4-1 on the road in the playoffs
Game 5 at home
no need to panic, they still have this series if they want it -
ptown_trojans_1
Hey, Caps fans were saying the same thing in several of the games.rock_knutne wrote: ^^^^^LUCKY! The goal that went off of Letang was pure garbage and the Pens missed numerous open nets. Malkin had the shot to tie it, and the Canadian defender just got enough to allow the shot to be deflect by Halak.
The go ahead goal was an odd bounce, but the Pens had plenty of chances of scoring goals, just like the Caps did.
I still think the Pens win in 6. But, I can now see it going 7. -
killer_ewokLuck or not....it counts.
Gotta take Game 5 at home on Saturday. -
Strapping Young LadMontreal did have some luck. But, they hit crossbar+post during their first period onslaught in game 3 in what ended up being a essentially a 1-0 game and had the flower beat a few other times. So, it evens out.
No one wins without some luck...... -
rock_knutneYeah, it counts but it's still luck. Montreal is garbage, and contrary to what they did to the Caps, the Pens have been doing things the right way, getting to the net and crashing it. Halak doesn't know where he's at most of the time. Pens need to BURY those free chances they created.
-
HereticSeries is reminding me of the Cavs-Celtics series in the NBA. The Pens (like the Cavs) seem to spend too much time in a "we're the better team and should win" mode. When either team turns it on, they're the superior squad, but they don't enter that mode often enough.
Honestly, I spent more time tonight watching the Pirates destroy the Cubs. This game was too frustrating. It's like the team didn't get the memo that Montreal just eliminated fucking Washington. On pure talent, this is a 4-0 or 4-1 series, but Montreal is hot and playing great hockey and Pittsburgh isn't consistently matching their intensity. -
sonofsam
do you really believe that after what you saw tonight? TWO EASY goals for the habs... If you take away that first goal that was absolutely HORRID, the pens went to overtime. Crosby is doing what he does best, consistently team play on and off the ice. It may be time he speaks up in the locker room and let Fleury know that the team isn't going to carry him anymore. Maybe its time HE as a captain picks a fight for what, like the 4th time in his career? The Pens need a spark and it certainly isn't coming from their captain. Sure he has been frustrated with the style of play the habs have gotten away with, but STEP UP. Mario would have. Thats one thing you can't teach and Crosby does not have. Hopefully game 5 is a turning point where Crosby actually leads his team on the ice instead of defending them off it. Its the Stanley cup playoffs Mr. Crosby... I know you have a cup, but it belongs in Pittsburgh. Believe it and make it happen.rock_knutne wrote: Here's all I'm going to say about Fleury........did Grant Fuhr have great numbers, no. Did Grant Fuhr win 5 Cups, yes. You don't have to have the crazy good numbers to be great and Fleury has proven that. He makes the timely stops when the team needs them. Crosby said it best the other day, you don't get this far with out good goaltending and for the third year in a row, Fleury looks to be on another extended run through the playoffs. -
sonofsamP.S.... Fleury sucks.
Do you think they could get a straight up trade for Halak? Better include Malkin in on that trade to make up for Fleury's shit play. Fleury needs to look across the ice, because the goalie over there is making him look like a Stanley Cup poser. Fleury = Just as good as the pens make him look with a few lucky saves in between. -
rock_knutne^^^^^Get a clue SOS. The first goal was bad but the other two you can't fault him on, especially the third one. Fleury was suppose to stop basically an own goal, a puck that went off of Letang's leg? You can't blame Fleury for this loss, if the Pens bury the puck on several wide open nets that game is a blow out.
As for your Crosby comment, that has a lot to be desired as well. -

You need to learn how to take a loss with a bit of dignity/class. -
rock_knutne
You need to shut your PIE HOLE! Did I not clearly state the Penguins need to bury their chances? Montreal's a fluke, they're getting all the breaks and that's fine, Pittsburgh needs to create their own breaks. The Pens keep playing their game eventually they will fill the net just like they did in game one. This series reminds me of the Caps series from last year, they eventually got to Varlamov and they will get to Halak.slingshot4ever wrote: ^^^^

Strapping Young LadI think they've gotten to Halak. Last night when they went up 2-1 after Mon scored first. That was deflating for Halak, you could tell, but he shrugged it off like he's supposed to and didn't allow another goal. IMO, Halak and the Habs have been there done that, facing a 3-1 deficit to the presidents, I think they just don't get rattled.
Love how everysingletime PGH loses it's a fluke or Habs got lucky or Habs scored garbage goals. How old is Rock, 13, 14 yrs old??? -

Flukes don't win 6 games in the playoffs and a game 7 on the road.rock_knutne wrote:

Luck is apart of it, but their defense is damn good. The Habs defense is doing the same thing they did to Washington to Pitt, get them off their game and in their head.
Again, I see the Pens winning in 6, 7 if Halak stays hot. -
End of LineThis team pisses me off sometimes.
-
End of LineTalbot, Letestu, Kennedy, and Cooke did everything they could to keep the team in the game. The rest of the team just decieded to shut down.
Lines I'd roll with Next game.
Kunitz-Crosby-Tangradi
Feds/Talbot-Geno-Talbot/Staal
Cooke-Letestu/Staal-Kennedy
Dupuis-Letestu-Adams
Orpik-Gonchar
Eaton-Letang
McKee-Leopold
Poni and Gogo deserve to sit with Guerin, they suck right now. -
rock_knutne
Sorry but we can agree to disagree, Montreal is a fluke! Pittsburgh is not playing the same style Washington used, they are actually crashing the net and getting screens in front of Halak, the Caps did none of that. Halak is in totall disaray at times, doesn't know where the puck is and Pittsburgh is not making him pay by missing clear cut, wide open nets, time and time again. Pittsburgh is not off of their game, they're playing the way they always do, apllying pressure and getting traffic in front of the net. I think they need to use the body a little more and make Montreal pay the price, other than Gill, the rest of the team is tiny.ptown_trojans_1 wrote:

End of Line
Pittsburgh is making the same mistake Washington did, They're not eing physical enough with these midgets. Why did the Pens beat the shit of the Habs in game 1???? Because they were physical. Orpik, Talbot, and Cooke can't do it all.rock_knutne wrote:
