Stanley Cup Playoffs, Eastern Semi-Finals: Pittsburgh Penguins vs Montreal Canadiens
-
Strapping Young LadAnother Montreal-Boston meeting would be cool to see.......
Could have an Original Six Final still. -

I'm with ewok, Pens will come out steaming in game seven and go for it. All these comparisons to 93 and even 96 are valid, but this series also reminds me of last year versus the Caps where it was close and Pittsburgh smoked them in game seven. -
rock_knutneLOL......"Jerky" and "Strap On" talking shit. You two make a nice set of book ends!
-
Strapping Young LadI might actually go the other way and contend that Pittsburgh is the team who has gotten pretty lucky. They're going seven w/ a team who has not been healthy the entire series.
They have had more than one key piece of their puzzle out in every single one of these games (their defense to be specific, and they play a style that focuses on and generates offense off of their defense). If they had an entirely healthy team, this series may very well be over and Montreal would be moving on.
Put that in your pipe and bite down. -

Montreal's defense hasn't created shit! Pittsburgh continually gives the puck away and when they get a wide open chance they can't bury it. That's been the difference..........execution!Strapping Young Lad wrote: I might actually go the other way and contend that Pittsburgh is the team who has gotten pretty lucky. If I'm Bylsma, I sit either Leopold or Goligoski for Jay McKee who doesn't turn it over, blocks shots and will use his body to punish people. -
Strapping Young LadGomez missed a couple big chances, too, on wide open goal. Montreal stil found a way. Keep crying.
You have the two best players in the world on your team and b/c you missed a couple wide open chances that means you have to lose the game???? WEAK. -
rock_knutneIt's been more than just "a couple" of chances but your hater glasses won't allow you to see that. Pittsburgh has played in the Montreal zone pretty much this entire series, have created traffic and a ton of juicy rebounds only to repeatedly miss the target.
You know what's weak........a Sabres fan running his mouth, in fact it's funny! Buffalo playing a game seven any time soon? -
Strapping Young LadAt least I'm not here making 'ed: outlandish' excuses about why we lost. Bruins are the better team and they outplayed the Sabres. Raask outplayed Miller at key times.
See how easy that was. Just try it. Be selfless for once. -
End of LineWell, this team played great the first and and half of the second period. When they hit two crossbars on the PP the team seemed to be deflated. Cooke, Staal, Kennedy, Adams, and Letestu hve busted their ass every night. The only way this team wins game 7 is if everybody shows up and they pund the other team into the boards (legal checking). Crosby still hasn't shown up since game 1.
Btw, Maxim Lapierrie is a bitch. -

Well Pitsburgh hasn't been outplayed, in fact it's been the other way around. They've done everything right except score and key give aways at crucial times. Montreal is not the better team. The only thing that has helped them is Halak and he too has been helped by some poor Pittsburgh finishing, everytime the Pens get in his grill he doesn't know where the puck is.Strapping Young Lad wrote: At least I'm not here making 'ed: outlandish' excuses about why we lost. Strapping Young LadWow. Just about every team who has been eliminated or has struggled through a long series can say the same things, Rock.
So, why can Montreal play bad and still win and be tied this far into the series if give-aways and missing chances is a recipe for disaster? Like I said, Montreal has done enough of those things too. When you have the two gods of women's hockey on your team, i'd figure you could overcome a few mistakes.
Pittsburgh's margin for error is way bigger than Montreal's. I think i know what it is. Montreal has been successful in shutting down Cindy and Jenny, so where Pittsburgh can ususally make a few mistakes and the two gals will bail them out, the Habs have kept them under wraps. Now when Pittsburgh boots a couple chances or turns the puck over (which of course are mistakes that no other team has had to overcome, lol) they don't get the support from the Sons of Hockey God to make up for theior mistakes.
In summary, Montreal has plenty to do with the reason this is going seven. Believe that, or believe that Montreal has continuously gotten lucky (for an entire six games) that the two best Hockey girls in the world have suddenly forgot how to play. I wonder which is true. -
End of LineW/o Cammalleri the Habs would've been gone sooner.
-
Strapping Young LadOf, course. Cammelleri has been HUGE. Lapierre has come up w/ the timely play himself.
-
End of Line^^^^^Lappy is a bitch.
-
Strapping Young LadLove him.
-
End of LineI imagine you would haha.

NonPens were only a No. 4 seed so it's not like they were a consistently dominant team.
Maybe it shouldn't be that surprising this has turned out to be a long series.
I think the Pens have the edge when they're playing fast and hitting but they're not able to sustain that level long enough. At least they haven't so far.
That will be the plan, I'm sure, in Game 7. -

A four seed by two points to NJ and they had one more point than Buffalo but they won their shitty division (hate that rule).Non wrote: Pens were only a No. 4 seed so it's not like they were a consistently dominant team.

The only surprise to me is the sloppy play the Pens have shown through out this series.........plenty of missed chances and unforced turnovers, Montreal has zero forecheck.
I do agree about their inconsistent physical play, one night they go all out to blast people and the next it's just not there. This will be a key tomorrow night but in the end, the Pens have to do it instead of talking about it. -
Strapping Young LadI wouldn't exactly say ZERO forecheck if you watched the last minute of the game when Pittsburgh couldn't move the puck out of their own zone. Maybe ONE forecheck or TWO forecheck, but not ZERO.

Its the same reason people were surprised Detroit go run. You just expect them to win the long series. Not to mention Detroit was a 5 and SJ was the 1. Pitt is the 4 playing the 8. But if Pitt loses it will be a bigger surprise to me than Detroit losing to SJ.Non wrote: Pens were only a No. 4 seed so it's not like they were a consistently dominant team.

Strapping Young LadAlso has something to do with the fact that everyone from Pitsburgh is convinced and trie s to convince everyone else that Crosby and Malkin are the best players in the world and everyone else is trash.
Notice Rock says gives ZERO credit to Halak, Mike C., Gill, Gorges, Subban or anyone else for playing well. Instead he says they are garbage. -

Not everyone. Bottom line........Crosby and Malkin are the best, the Montreal players you listed are garbage and you're a jealous stooge who roots for Buffalo, go figure! Thanks for playing!Strapping Young Lad wrote: Also has something to do with the fact that everyone from Pitsburgh is convinced and trie s to convince everyone else that Crosby and Malkin are the best players in the world and everyone else is trash.
