Ben Roethlisberger will not be charged, according to ESPN sources
-
NonI disagree with a lot of people who say as soon as he throws that first TD or the Steelers start to win games, people will forget about all this.
I don't think it's accurate to lump all the fans together like that. There are a lot of serious Steelers fans and people who were big fans of Roethlisberger that are extremely disappointed in how he's acted with the media and at some of the other events, to go along with all of these situations he's put himself in.
He's tarnished his reputation to the point that even if he throws another clutch TD pass to win a big game it would be hard to be excited for that moment when he's acting like the big hero and celebrating.
The Rooneys know this but I think they're going to give him one more chance to clean in up. -

Suck it. I live in the PGH market and am forced to watch your rapists and crybabies everytime there's a game on. It only makes sense that I talk about PGH sports. You can have your lovefest for these weird fuckers on the Shitzburgh teams, and I'll bring the hate.killer_ewok wrote:

You spend more than half your time on Cleveland related threads.
I feel for you guys for what Capone puts you through but don't think for a second that many of us Steeler fans don't go through the same shit. SYL is just as bad.....and he's not the only one......
If it causes you such dismay then go to PAchatter.com. I don't say anything that isn't true anyhow. Crosby is a crybaby (as voted by NHL players), isn't the best (as voted by NHL players), and Big Ben may not be a "rapist" but he may as well be because he did bad things to some helpless girl (so says the DA).....
Truth hurts. -
NonFormer left tackle Marvel Smith provided some comments about Roethlisberger in a column by Bill Rhoden of the New York Times.
``“I’m not going to say Ben gets away with a lot, but he’s held to a different standard, for sure. If they plan on using Santonio [Holmes] as a scapegoat for that, they are going to have a huge issue in that locker room. Guys already feel like, I guess you can say, they put Ben on a pedestal. He gets away with more than any other guy on the team would. -

First off, as I stated the other day, if anyone is going to "suck it", they would need to invest in a high powered microscope with you.Strapping Young Lad wrote: Suck it. Second, the truth is, you're a complete hating idiot who adds absolutely NOTHING concrete to the discussion......zero, zip nada! Capiche? I only see you posting on Pittsburgh threads, although, unlike you, I don't post on rival threads, minimal if any. -
Strapping Young LadI don't give a shit what you do or what you think of what I do......And what the fuck have you ever said that was of any consequence????

I find it very strange how you have this strong hate for a city that you LIVE IN. You don't like their teams....fine. But how about contributing to a discussion instead of spewing nonsense over and over. Its childish...grow up! -

Plenty! The difference between you and I is I don't go on rival threads and start shit like you do. I will reply to mindless little people like yourself when attacked or call out someone's nonsense. Big difference and the proof is clear, I don't ever see you post on any other threads except the Pittsburgh topics........wonder why that is. And trust me, no one gives a shit about you either. -
Strapping Young LadI was posting about this story, nothing more nothing less, until my name gets brought up by personal attack involving slur-word Justin removed (fag) -- Heretic Ewok when someone mentioned Capone. Ewock has to throw my name in a conversation that I'm not even in because he wants everyone to empathize with Steeler fans, b/c they get picked on too....Booh Fuckin Hoo.
How bout this, I'll do what I want and you have an ignore button...... -

killer_ewokThe funny thing is....I can suggest the same things to you.
You don't like me or what I say - Put me on your ignore list or learn to live with it.
You don't like the teams you have to watch in the market you live in - get DirecTV or GTFO of the Pittsburgh market. Problem solved. Otherwise.....tough shit. -
vball10setat the risk of being stalked, and then called names,by the aforementioned douche ND subway alumnus, all I can say is that IMO,Roethlisberger is an embarrassment not only to his family, but to the communities of Findlay and Oxford as well. He may eventually be welcomed back in Pittsburgh (if he wins,of course), but his legacy will be a tarnished one here in NWO,and on the campus of Miami University as well.

Mike & Mike had a Pittsburgh radio guy on this morning discussing a similar topic along with whether local fans felt he deserved a suspension. He said that fans may warm up to him as the season goes on but this likely won't be forgotten over the long haul. He said that as the DA read as much of the details, in his press conference, as possible that the fans went from "digust" to thinking Ben was just "creepy."Non wrote: I disagree with a lot of people who say as soon as he throws that first TD or the Steelers start to win games, people will forget about all this.

thavoiceI believe he deserves a 2 game suspension. 1 game is too lenient, and 3-4 is too much for someone who hadnt even been charged with anything.
I think most of the steeler Nation feels that a suspension is warranted. It really was embarrasing being a steelers fan....at the gyym the other night when BR gave his press conference..everyone in the weight room stopped to watch it. That isnt the publicitly that we as steelers fans have grown to be ok with. Soem bengal fans in the past stated they didnt care if their players are in trouble just as long as they can perform. I dont think steeler fans will forget this and he will get boo birds from home fans early on. No doubt. I know the firs game I go to I will boo him -
vball10set^^^it's refreshing to hear from knowledgeable and true Steeler fans--thank you for posting insightful thoughts and not just slamming other people's opinions.

gutWell, the damage is done.
If this girl sues, I'm sure Ben will be "told" to settle quickly.
As a compromise, perhaps he will be allowed to continue to fight NV as a way to clear his name. If that goes to trial or as details continue to emerge, for that to become clear to everyone it's completely bogus and he is guilty of no wrongdoing then you can begin to repair the rep by saying GA was an isolated incident.
Thing is, DA Bright all but said the sorority sisters played a key role in this girl reluctantly filing the police report. It's in the Q&A section of the transcript - he mentions the sorority sisters FOUR times - they convinced didn't think she should go home, they were concerned, they convinced her to go to police, they did most of the talking... -
Gblocki dont think he should be suspended....suspended for what? trying to get laid? doing some shots? I do that every weekend as probly do a lot of people on here. i also don't think he shamed anyone but himself.....just because a guy plays for a team or a city how does he tarnish your team or reputation?...He plays football, he is a football player. He is not a priest and this isnt the girls scouts. this is not church league softball.. No one is perfect and people make mistakes and learn from it...I am a steeler fan but my morality is unchanged by anything any player on the team does.

Where there is smoke...there is fire. For TWICE to be accused of sexual assault brings shame to the steelers, and the NFL. Plus there are allegations of a third assualt that a woman just didnt wanna pursue.
I am a steelers fan. Been all my life. We are season ticket holders and I know all of us are pissed and disgusted at him. It is how a team/player/person acts in the face of adversity on how they ultimately will be judged. If the steelers do nothing then that would be ashamed. Even tho I think it will hurt the team i want him suspended. -
Gblockhow does it bring shame to the steelers?? did they tell him to do it? did they know he was going to do it?...did they buy the alcahol? Im sure most people agree they don't support this and will address it. maybe even a fine...but suspension for a guy who never has been charged with anything is over the line imo
-
BR1986FBHe's going to HAVE to be suspended if Goodell is smart. If he isn't, this sends a message to every WHITE guy in the NFL that "hey, I can get away with whatever I want to tarnish the shield, Ben did." I don't WANT to make it a racial thing but that's the message it will send.
-
thavoiceFines will do nothing. Absolutely nothing.
How does it bring shame? Because he is the face of the franchise. if a father is accused of a crime...it brings shame to a family. I know a woman who son was accused of something bad...window peeping and such...and she admits it brough shame to her family.
When a player commits a crime it brings shame to those around him..the team, his family, the franchise..and a sex crime is even more shamefull than a DUI, drug charge in my opinion.
What about Dookie Holmes? Team sat him a game for something that was eventually dropped.
We can all have diff opinions, but I dont think we should take the same path that bengal fans have and just forgive and forget the crimes of our players.
I feel he needs punished. Obviously you dont and that is fine. Difference of opinion.
Some people looked at the Holmes incident with a fatty, since it was dropped, as nothing wrong happened. Well...something did happen but they just didnt have probably cause for the stop. Just because BR wasnt charged with anthing doesnt deter the fact that he did something very questionable. You dont want a guy with multiple sex accusations as the face of your team. By not punishing him the steelers will be tarnished as a franchise.
yes..it will eventually pass but i think if they do punish him that will pass quicker than if they let him skate. Plus...it will set stern example to the future players..........look what we did...we traded one guy, and suspended the face of our franchise....so you better fucking stay outta the polic blotter.
