    Despite repeated assurances her name would not be released to the media, she refused to speak with investigators. Yeah, story sounds, like, totally legit. I think the most entertaining part is this was a witness sourced by a 16 yr old in their Explorers program.

    The Steelers will probably draft players that would help Dixon if he's forced to play, but not directly for that purpose.

    They may draft an interior lineman in the first round, which will help the running game.

    They are also looking for a second running back -- Blount, Dixon, Hardesty, Dwyer, Gerhart, etc.

    And they could use a blocking fullback. There aren't many good ones in this draft.

    Who knows how much of an impact those players can make in the first four games of the 2010 season if Dixon starts those games but the Steelers are already thinking about running the ball better and not relying as much on Ben and the receivers.

    Guy who wrote that article must have major-league short-term memory issues, considering they did just "apply 'zero tolerance'" to a Super Bowl MVP wide receiver by shipping him out for next-to-nothing upon his latest issues with the league (ie: 4-game drug suspension).

    Bingo. Because if a Super Bowl MVP gets traded and one of the top QB's in the NFL gets suspended (by the league, but if not them there's no doubt the Rooney's will suspend him) then NOBODY is safe.

    I think Colbert's comments sound like the truth except for the five percent chance that the Steelers trade up. Obviously he has to say that in his position to be safe and not rule anything out but for those of us scoring at home it's zero percent.

    But it is probably about 25-30 percent the Steelers will trade down from No. 18.

    I think the Holmes trade has had more of an impact than the Roethlisberger situation. It made sense in terms of reclaiming the image but from a football standpoint it created a big problem for 2010 and beyond.

    It put a lot of added pressure on the front office in this draft to get another WR but they can't do it at the expense of ignoring the other primary needs such as OL and CB. Those were already set before this trade went down so for them to change their draft strategy all of a sudden and devalue one of those positions would be a mistake.

    They could just trust their scouting and have a WR targeted later on like they did last year with Mike Wallace or they have to do some maneuvering and try to get another pick in the first three rounds. Preferably in the first two rounds but at least in the top 80 I'd say. They could always try and package some of their later picks to move up but it might be easier to move down in the first round and add a second or third.

    Man....I don't think this guy's reputation will ever be healed. They say "time heals all wounds" but I'm starting to wonder with some of the nitpicking I'm hearing. A story about him going into a sub shop and purchasing some sandwiches for $20.07, pulling out a $20 and taking $.07 from the courtesy/penny jar? Sounds like some are REALLY scrutinizing EVERY move this guy makes. It's one thing to RIGHTFULLY blast him for the previous incidents but it seems like he's going to be under a HUGE microscope in the Burgh.

If he keeps his nose clean and resumes winning.....even though all will not be forgotten.....he'll be accepted and respected as a player for his on-field success. In fact, that should not have ever stopped. But rest assured, NOBODY will give a fuck about 7 cents if he takes care of business on the field.

    I think some fans will be quick to jump back on the bandwagon if he has success and those fans will make enough noise in the stadium to make it seem like he has enough support. There will be a lot of other fans who are concerned with more than just playing well and winning and don't really want to root for a scumbag right away. They'll want to see some type of change off the field. But unfortunately the media often lumps fans together. So as I said, there will be enough supporting him that the others will be in the minority.

    Yeah, personally, after reading that, I'm more concerned about him eating four $5 footlongs in one sitting than the seven cents. Dude needs to trim off a bit of the excess weight, not go completely John Daly on us.

    I have less of a problem with fans who say "I don't care what kind of person he is as long as he plays winning football" than I do with the hypocrites who know (and who doesn't by now) that the man is slime mold but deny it so that they can feel good about rooting for him and/or claim holier than thou status for the organization.

    ya kno....in watching some of the video from the OTA...I thought he didnt look too big. I admit when that video of his apology came out he looked awful....but in the video of him in th OTA>..he looked ok fitness wise.

    Saw a side photo of that press conference and he looked fairly trim, for him. My guess is he's been doing nothing but working out the last month and a half since he's had to curtail the partying
