How ugly will the Celtics collapse be?

  • Cleveland Buck
I can't remember the last time the Cavs beat the Heat by more than 10 points, so they aren't exactly an ideal matchup I would want to see. Of course, no matter who we play I will be terrified waiting for the Cleveland shoe to drop.

I don't care personaly what you guys say, I just discuss your opinions. Some just come off as cocky... like they were last year. Then they watched their team get spanked. I hope you guys win if Miami can't, but I'd also get a laugh at seeing how confident/cocky people were about predictions if the Cavs find a way to lose again. I don't wish bad things on the Cavs, but I wanted them to lose quite badly last year just to watch and listen to people bitch about it. You guys know how it is... you meet somebody cocky and arrogant and you can't wait for them to fall flat on their face. Hopefully it works out for you. You've got reasons to be confident. I just get a sense that people are counting their chickens before they hatch. I thought humility would have been learned last year. But like I said, nobody gives a shit personally, it's just something to BS about.

The Cavs would take Miami in 4... maybe 5 if Miami was hot one night. Cleveland OWNS the 4th against Miami. I'd love to see the series though.

    I don't see fans here claiming the Cavs are a lock. I know I don't think it's a lock.

But if I get into percentages and odds and that type of thing, people get pissed off.

The Cavs would be a lock if they played in just about any other city.

Since it's Cleveland it's still kind of hard to imagine them actually finishing the deal and not choking.

But I will say that the way things have played out, there doesn't even appear to be a strong threat at this point. The Celtics have their issues. The Lakers aren't as hungry having just won it last year. Nobody else will win it all. So it has to be the Cavs to lose.

Nobody has said it's a lock. However, read between the lines.

I think it's going to be ugly. I'm praying that the Cavs don't play them because I think it will be epic in that case. Don't want to see anyone get hurt--and yes I think they may really get that bad.

I can't lie, I'm all excited to see it happen.
    Quoted for irony.

I still see Cleveland winning the series, but I don't think it is going to be nearly as easy as the board's self appointed expert thought.

Wow. Where did this thread come from?

I was saying even before the playoffs the Celtics wouldn't be a push over. I was shocked at the number of Cavs fans cocky in saying Boston wouldn't be a threat. I said before the series that based on recent history (splitting the season series last 3 years, 2008 playoffs, and losing 10 of last 11 in boston) Cleveland had no reason to be overconfident. Cleveland is still the favorite but I'm not shocked at all that the series is tied.

It came from a couple weeks ago. Read some of the older posts, SQ basically declares the Celtics for dead and says that he hopes Cleveland doesn't play the Celtics (for the Celtics own good). At which point, I tell him the Celtics aren't as bad as they had been playing and that he and a few other Cavs fans were supremely confident even though nothing had been won at that point. Subsequently, various Cavs lobbed insults at me and called me "negative" for not sucking on the collective Cavalier penis.

Remember when the Bulls won a game and everyone said, OMG, maybe this series won't be as easy as you thought!!! It still ended in 5 games.

Congrats to you, but guess what--it's 2 games in, so aren't you doing exactly what you're essentially calling me a dumbass for and counting your chickens before they hatch?

There are a handful of Cavs fans that have made Cavs threads almost unreadable with the arrogance and homerificness. I've just avoided them altogether lately.

And just for the record, I still think the Cavs win the series, but some Cavs fans are unbelievable with how untouchable they make this team out to be (Mo Williams a potential future HOFer, for example). A little perspective and a willingness to accept that the Cavs aren't the Monstars would be nice. Also for the record, I know he doesn't really say whoopsie. But you thought he did when you were a kid too. Don't lie.
  • SQ_Crazies
Oh whoopsie! I was wrong...big deal. At least least I have the balls to say my team is just flat out better.

    Another classic sq prediction

Don't forget the Varejao HOF argument.

The Celtics aren't the Bulls. It's not even close.
  • lhslep134
Remember that time that the Celtics have a TON more talent than the Bulls?

Remember that time SQ was wrong? I can't personally remember because it happens at least twice a day. I now understand why people HATE Cleveland fans, it's because of arrogant deuches like SQ, just LOOK at this thread. Even if I believed what you said was true, which I don't at all, I still wouldn't say it. The Celtics are finally showing the team they're capable of being, the fact they barely showed it during the regular season is now meaningless, and I can easily see the Cavs losing this series if Lebron's elbow continues to affect his game like it did last night.
  • mallymal614
People also forget that Boston still has the EXACT same starting 5 from when they won the championship just 2 years ago. Was they suppose to fall off that quickly?
  • JakeGiant
Teams like the Lakers, Celtics, and Magic are built for the Playoffs. Teams like the Cavs are built for sexy regular season records, and danceoffs.
  • jpake1
A prediction gone wrong can be dealt with just fine. We all do it a few times a week on this site. It's just the complete arrogance of it that baffles people. I can't say that I'm surprised though.

    It's 1-1 and you're shakin' your head.

What happens if Cleveland takes 2 IN Boston and ends the series in 5 games? Because that's every bit as likely as you assuming that based on one shitty game by the Cavs that the series will go 7.
  • 2quik4u
since there collapse was going to be epic, shouldn't they have not even made it past the first round
