GoT returns Sunday

SportsAndLadyCersei still has people left to fight. Clearly, they are building up the "weapons" storyline to kill the dragons. She's still going to have people and artillery to fight Dany.
I just think it's funny that Dany could have done this a long time ago lol. Like, you have these badass warriors and three badass dragons and it took several seasons to actually use them. So stupid! -

I got you. Thought that's what you meant, but wasn't sure. No sense in debating something that didn't happen, but I'm sure if Drogon torched or ate him reactions would vary widely on whether it was a "good death" for the character.Laley23;1865654 wrote:Gut, him dying during the charge would've been cool.
I assumed it was Bronn that saved him, but I really don't know.
Also, typically outstanding acting by Tyrion watching that - two short lines, but the delivery was so perfect and captured so many different emotions. -

But I tend to agree with what Tyrion has been telling her, and Jon basically agreed with - the scorched earth policy is not how you win loyalty and trust. She clearly has some Targ pyschopath in her, but it seems like she wanted to try a more diplomatic approach.SportsAndLady;1865657 wrote: I just think it's funny that Dany could have done this a long time ago lol. Also, was it just me or was it kind of implied that this attack was Jon's strategy? -
gutOne nitpick....Your army has no food, so let's torch all the wagons carrying boatloads of food (and gold, which was probably vaporized).
Dany really is clueless. -

Gold got to King's Landing. Tarly said so shortly before the attack.gut;1865663 wrote:One nitpick....Your army has no food, so let's torch all the wagons carrying boatloads of food (and gold, which was probably vaporized).

SnotBubblesTo answer some of the questions on how Daenerys and Co. got to Jaime so quickly, this interactive map is useful:
http://viewers-guide.hbo.com/game-of-thrones/season-7/episode-4/map/location/18/dragonstone
If Jaime was leaving Highgarden around the same time that Daenerys was leaving Dragonstone, then Daenerys would have intercepted that Lanister army before they could get back to King's Landing. Judging by the distances in the map - it would appear to be that way even with a couple day head start for the Lanisters. They also would be traveling at a much slower pace with all of the supplies they were carrying. So that isn't too far fetched that they caught them. -

I read that. Didn't pick-up on it watching.Heretic;1865676 wrote:Gold got to King's Landing. Tarly said so shortly before the attack.
Also couldn't hear Bran's line to Littlefinger clearly: "chaos is a ladder", which is something Littlefinger has said before that made him wonder how Bran knew.
Interesting dark horse theory I read: Jaime as the "Prince that was Promised", which says the Prince is "reborn amidst salt and smoke". Well, water symbolizing baptism/rebirth, and there's a ton of smoke on that battlefield.... -

I don't get why everyone is so hung up on this. It's not real time, and while we don't get a sense of any time lapsing vs. the pace often crawling in the past, there's no indication that they weren't traveling for days/weeks simply because we don't see it.SnotBubbles;1865680 wrote:To answer some of the questions on how Daenerys and Co. got to Jaime so quickly, this interactive map is useful:
Admittedly, it would have added to the suspense and realism if they had given even 5 minutes to Dany's army on the march without knowing where they were marching to.
For some sense of timing, I believe the Cersei invited the Iron Bank guy to "stay a few weeks" and she would have his money. So it's not like anyone is "teleporting" just because we don't see them marching or sailing or whatever. -
Zoltan
Agreed - the bigger issue to me was how this was a surprise attack? Everyone knew Dany was at Dragonstone. How does she sail off with a Dragon and Dothraki army while nobody notices? Then she treks across land and the Lannister army doesn't find out until they hear them coming? No scouts, ravens, etc?gut;1865684 wrote:I don't get why everyone is so hung up on this. That's a really good point. You would have expected Jaimie to have someone watching Dragonstone (if he doesn't have spies). And then, at minimum, you'd have scouts out.Zoltan;1865701 wrote:Then she treks across land and the Lannister army doesn't find out until they hear them coming? No scouts, ravens, etc?
Or maybe Drogon was frying anyone on horseback within 10 miles. :RpS_w00t: -

She did listen to jon and tyrion though. They told her not to destroy castles and villages. She didn't. She went after soldiers, not innocent people.gut;1865662 wrote:But I tend to agree with what Tyrion has been telling her, and Jon basically agreed with - the scorched earth policy is not how you win loyalty and trust. Seems like she listened to them AND the people telling her she needs to get on the dragons and attack. -
supermanHouse Tarley has been eliminated from play off contention.
-
SportsAndLadyNot the most action packed episode but definitely set up the final two episodes.
It looks like the next episode is going to just be the one storyline of jon and co beyond the wall. I love when thrones does that. -
kizer permanenteSo Jon Snow is true heir? Thought Gilly was worthless.

That was my thought, as well.kizer permanente;1866509 wrote:So Jon Snow is true heir? Thought Gilly was worthless.
But then Gendry re-appeared. I think that bit that Sam dismissed like the fat **** he is was actually telling us Gentry is the true King. Remember back in S1 when Ned said he "had proof". I assumed, like almost everyone I'm sure, that the story was about Jon. I'm certain it was actually Gentry (and the whole bit about formal announcements and annulments proves that).
It's completely unclear. That could have, even more likely, been about Jon rather than Gendry. But I always wondered why a random got so much attention. Blogs are saying he's going to be Team Ant-zombie blacksmith....but I think there's more to it. -
kizer permanente
Well it depends how you look at it, I guess. Gendry is Baratheon's boy, so if you believe Robert's lineage is the true heir, then, yeah, Gendry is heir. If you believe a Targaryen is the heir, it'd be Jon since his mom and dad were legally married and he's not a bastard after all.gut;1866516 wrote:That was my thought, as well.

This. Jon is the true heir. His claim is stronger than Daenerys'.kizer permanente;1866519 wrote:If you believe a Targaryen is the heir, it'd be Jon since his mom and dad were legally married and he's not a bastard after all. -
SportsAndLadyI can't see the Gendry thing happening. He's such a minor character, I think they just brought him back because they kind of left his storyline untouched and needed him back to start back up the Stark-Baratheon alliance.
-
gutI guess Sam is going to do some reading on his trip....which means he should know absolutely everything when he shows up in a week or two after teleporting.
Kind of annoying, though, how he's whining about searching every text for clues...and then just says "screw it" and randomly grabs a couple armloads of books on his way out. -
Laley23Can we stop bitching about the "teleportation"? The most painful storyline in any season has been Brieanne escorting Jaime back to Kings Landing for an entire season. I'll gladly jump days ahead in the plot line without having to watch what's going on elsewhere in the world just so the timeline matches up.
Ill simply choose to beleive everyone just sat around arguing over the next move at Winterfell, Kings Landing, Dragonstone etc for days lol. -

SnotBubblesMy gut tells me someone (someone major) is going to die Sunday night.
