    It was not just Nationalism. It was White Nationalism that got millions of otherwise normal Germans to by into the false ideology that they were a master race destined for greatness and millions of these otherwise normal Germans committed horrible atrocities in the name of this insane cause. The alienation from the economic conditions placed on them by the Allies created the conditions for this to spread, not just into the minds of a few deranged individuals, but to an entire People.

    After the war, it was not until Henri Tajfel's pioneering work on social psychology that people came around to the idea that there was not something inherent in German's that made them this way.

    And your analogy with Russia is not a good one. The world community is offering Russia a way out and would ease the pain on its people in an instant. The world gave them German's no such deal and they just took more and more such as the French occupying the Ruhr.

    In other words, we are trying to help the Russians. The world was not trying to help the Germans and those conditions persisted for years and years and years.

    ^There is only priority because ISIS is on CNN all day while the African holocausts have been ignored. ISIS is no where close to forming a "state".

    The Germans were unique because they were being crushed by the Allies and the deflationary economic policies enacted by Bruning were extreme even by the Depression's standards.

    The U.S. had a depression but it wasn't being forced into an even worse one by Reparations owed to Canada. Canada did not invade the Rust Belt and take over American Industry. You did not have Canadians demanding payment from the Americans in foreign exchange, etc. etc.

    And this is the sort of Us vs. Them propaganda that ISIS spews to get recruits. They write in their magazine that the Christian West oppresses them and invades their lands and occupies them and that Islam will be restored to the Caliphate as Jesus returns at the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus. This is just like the Nazi's calling for the restoration of the Fatherland which has been brought to its knees by non-Aryans. And so, the Germans began expunging their land of non-Aryans (Jews in particular) just as ISIS expunges Christians, inadequately extreme Muslims, and other ethnic groups.

    In other words...it takes unique circumstances for extreme propaganda to take hold and it is a mistake to think that this is simply "good vs. evil" Everybody thought the Japanese were inherently evil or deranged in some way. For instance, as horrific as everything that ISIS has done so far has been, the Rape of Nanking was still worse (if we have to try and categorize human atrocity). Yet, the Japanese are a perfectly functional people today.

    The war machine propaganda drumming up is truly amazing.

    I'm a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy and no amount of young sailors and marines fighting nut jobs in the middle of a sand box has anything to do with blankets of freedom here in American. Indeed, there is nothing that "Daesh" wants more than to trump up the west into fighting a battle for "Freedom" against "Islam." The fact that people are so willing to let so many of our young people risk losing their freedom permanently and forever because of unnecessary deaths all with false appeals to "freedom" after so many of these recent calamitous adventures is truly horrifying.

    Its a perfect parallel. The Germans were given many ways out. Re-militarization of the Rhineland, the Sudetenland, the annexation of Austria. It was only when they went to far and attacked a nation with a military alliance with Great Britain that drew the final line. Russia is pushing towards that line.

    This type of blindness is why history is doomed to repeat itself.

    north korea is contained ,but we do have a duty to try and get people out of the concentration camps. we should help all peoples all over the planet that are being attacked by the army of satan.. sorry i left some out .. right now daesh takes precedence because they are on the move ..

    How many 911's? how many Beruit bombings? I'd suggest that there is a difference between isolated attacks and an almost daily sytematic series of attacks. How long do we wait to respond? Would two or three attacks on the hoimeland be enough to grab our attention?

    Oh, if only the civilized nations of the world would stop oppressing them like they did Nazi Germany in the 30's, none of this stuff would ever happen and everybody would play nice!
