Well the survival rate isn't particularly high, so I can see why they would want to talk to the passengers.

Nevermind the government. What about any biologists or chemists you know?

But she showed no symptoms on the plane so there shouldn't be anything to worry about, right? I mean that's what all the experts on this site are telling me.

they say it can take 7-10 days to show symptons.

So the real question is...will Newarkcatholicf now tell people they have ebola instead of AIDS when you really get him pissed off?

That someone said she showed no symptoms doesn't make it so. Why would they not act based on worst case?

No need to. All the experts say it won't spread here in the States. They're just wasting our tax dollars.

One of my friend's went to high school with this Amber Vinson chick. Crazy! Small world (for him...I don't know her haha).

    Reps if I could.

Getting even remotely concerned about Ebola is not allowed on here.

After the hospital in Dallas screwed the pooch with handling case #1, I'm betting there's going to be an increase in being thorough. Would you not do the same?

As I understand it, it's not contagious during the incubation period, which is apparently the period after contracting it, but prior to showing symptoms. I would suppose, in theory, that if the incubation period was just ended, she still might not show symptoms the absolute second that happens. I presume that's something of a sliding scale.

I am curious, though, why she thought flying was okay after she'd just been treating a man with ebola. To me, it doesn't seem wise to travel less than 21 days after being exposed to someone with it, even if they assume that all precautions were taken.

No, they're saying it won't spread here because the proper procedures will be followed. No expert has said in effect, "don't worry about it" as you suggest.

Who said that? Personally, I think I'm the right amount concerned, given the facts, not conspiracy, raging paranoia, or denial of science. It's like the damn 9/11 truthers needed a hobby.

Ahh yes..."They". You mean the ones that are saying they have to rethink they way they handle Ebola?

"They" have my full confidence. I mean we shouldn't be concerned. Obama is even cancelling two fundraisers today to have meetings on Ebola. WHAT?!?! THIS MUST BE SERIOUS THEN!

Right. 9/11 conspiracy theorists. Same as being slightly concerned about Ebola virus.

No one said we shouldn't be concerned, it should just be consistent with the facts.

Are you as big a ***** in real life as your persona on here? Help me, help me, the Ebola is coming!

Should be more worried about the flu season coming up..that kills hundreds and hundreds each year

Kills elderly and very young. I am neither. This comparison is not a good one.

Yeah, but is there a massive conspiracy between the government and the private sector lying about how the flu is spread?

The director of the CDC said we didn't need to be concerned.
Dr. Thomas Frieden, the director of the CDC, says Americans really don’t need to worry about Ebola, anyway. He says even if people bring it in, good hospitals and infection control will prevent its spread. “We remain confident that we can contain any spread of Ebola within the United States,” .
I'm taking his word for it. He is an expert and knows what he's talking about.

And yes, I'm a ***** in real life. GFY

More people in the prime of their lives will die from the flu in this country than Ebola.

Do you have any reason other than distrust and paranoia to believe the opposite? As you apparently know better, please tell us what we should expect. Thousands of cases? Millions? Moar?

so let me get this straight...

2 nurses who were in direct contact with a dying Ebola patient are infected and everyone is freaking out b/c she was in Ohio.. Not to mention that Thomas Duncan flew over her 4 weeks ago and no one on his flight has Ebola.

I watched The Announcement on ESPN about Magic Johnson... Do you think I have HIV now?

Exactly. This whole Ebola thing is a non-story. Move along.
