Duck Dynasty, will Phil's interview doom the show?

    ^^^

I think the difference is the media reaction. I agree that there shouldn't be any outrage. But if a gay guy comes out and says, "ooh, girl parts are icky" it is considered funny, if a guy says what this duck guy says it is considered bigoted. I don't get the double standard.

    A factoid that means what?

You're spinning. The "prefer vagina" was the least offensive thing the man said (actually not offensive at all IMO). Likening homosexuality to bestiality, which he absolutely was doing in spite of the lame parsing people are trying to accomplish is extraordinarily offensive. If you have a straight equivalent to that that people shouldn't be bothered by, let's hear it.

There is a militant gay agenda being pushed on this country and we are all going to like it or participate in it come hell or high water as far as these people are concerned. They are going to force their values on you, by any means necessary.
Replace "gay" with "black" in this post and I'm pretty sure people were saying this exact same thing in the mid to late 50's.

It was ridiculous then...it's ridiculous now.

It's part and parcel in this country when dealing with the left. Everyone in their eyes is a closed minded bigot who doesn't believe exactly what they do. They believe in tolerance only as long as it falls in line with everything they believe in.

The idea that "the left" has a monopoly on such ways of thinking is laughable, and I certainly lean to the right.

Even worse than white conservatives? Because on this site, all they do is bitch and moan about how everyone is against them.

uh, ok. Have you been on a college campus since 1990 and taken a liberal arts or (god forbid) law school class? White males, among others, are the primary targets of idiotic comments. If you want a litany:

    1) Not to the point of the topic, but I had a professor say that abortion should be legal as a criminal matter, as the fetus is committing a criminal act in escaping from the womb - I'm not joking

    2) To the point of the topic, I've had professors say that the institution of marriage is heterosexist, whatever that means, notwithstanding centuries of history.

    3) We've reached the threshold where "being gay" is a protected class, and gets affirmative action treatments in some cases.

Now, I could be offended by any, or just listen and make my own choices. I prefer the latter.

I think there are a number of people/organizations that show outrage and such that do so because of the "seinfeld aids ribbon" phenomenal. Ya know, if you dont say (or in that case wear it) or show outrage then that means you believe what was said/done.

That happens alot when someone uses the N word and gets blasted.

I'm pretty sure the whining from racist and sexist people that they no longer live in a consequence-free society is wayyyyy louder than the complaints from victims of racism/sexism.

I was listening to Rush Limbaugh recently and he made a comment about Liberalism being a religion, with the government as their God, the New Deal as their bible and Abortion and Gay Marriage as their sacraments.

He is an entertainer of course so I laughed, but as I read your post I couldn't help but think how true that comment really was when you see what is going on in this country.

This country is the same as it has always been. The movie doesn't change, just the actors. Like sherm pointed out earlier, all of these same things were being said 50-60 years ago about blacks. I believe Mark Twain said that history doesn't repeat itself, but it rhymes. I'm pretty comfortable in the fact that I won't be the type of person who people look back on and laugh about how bigoted they were.

Its amazing how just because organizations like GLAAD call out a dude for saying a dumb thing that knee-jerk reactionary hillbillies and bigots proceed to call out ALL gays and ALL people who actually care about other human beings feelings. Basically the point is, some of you people are even bigger drama queens than the gayest gay dude that ever gayed.

Take that crap to the puddle or yappi, the pedos really love that banter.

"all of these same things were being said 50-60 years ago about blacks."

I don't recall that the discrimination that African Americans faced had anything to do with engaging in an action that some thought was against their beliefs - they were just African Americans. To this point I still don't understand what anything this guy said was objectionable. Some people don't like certain actions. There is no analogous connection. Try again.

So he was just reciting a laundry list of sins - homosexuality, bestiality? He wasn't trying to link the two, they were just a couple that popped in his head?

Which got your panties in a wad? Seriously, I got called much worse every day when I worked in New York. By opposing counsel and even my own team! Are you that thin-skinned?

You don't think religion was used as a method to dehumanize blacks? What fantasy history are you reading?

    My panties are fine, thanks.

Thanks for that irrelevant yet fascinating story. Do you believe that someone who happens to love a person of the same sex is somehow on the same level as someone who has sex with animals? Do you think that the former has a legitimate beef with being lumped in with the latter?

    Cue irrelevant personal experience story.

Those 2 are lumped together because they are both un-natural and converse to what God intended for us to use sexuality for. That natural slippery slope has always been that if you normalize one un-natural behavior that the other is not far behind.
