HereticI can kind of see what people are saying on the "is he or isn't he" racist part.
On one hand, he said definite racist things towards Martin and at the very least is an asshole willing to use racist comments to be an asshole.
On the other, the impression I get from everything I've read, both here and in news stories, is that he was a reasonably liked guy in a sport dominated by black dudes who was mainly considered a liability due to being a hothead on the field. And with how a lot of the stuff, including the "half N" thing seemed to be in texts or (somewhat) private conversations with Martin, he probably wasn't an overt racist or a guy who said anything bad like that in the locker room or in group settings.
I'd think if the dude himself was an actual racist, you'd have heard a lot more about that sort of thing in his past because that shit don't fly in today's world. So, I'm kinda more in the line of him being an asshole who's willing to take verbal cheap shots (including racist comments) in order to be a dick to guys he considers easy to victimize. Kind of along the lines of "I know these words will hurt you, so I'm using them!" sort of thing more than a "Fuckin' half n's..." racist sort of thing. -
sportchamppsWell there is a video of him using the nword in a bar while he's drunk towards mike Pouncey

like_thatSeems like most of the dolphins' roster is on incognitos side.

I agree and further ill take this over saying it behind my back and in the way rcooper said it any day..in a locker room I could see how it could go both ways just as if I called a white teammates cracker ass cracker..i know white dudes who would say it as a sign of truly treating someone as an equal to a point where there is no limit when it comes to insults etc..to me a racist wouldn't say it to your face. Also for me the difference in racist or not racist is if u think you are better than me because of your race, you look down on a race and think you are inherently better than them..not just using the n word -
steubbigredIncognito would fit perfectly on the OC ask Fairwoodking.

Personal thing or more of a mercenary mentality? They don't like the guy, but he gets it done on Sunday.like_that;1530025 wrote:Seems like most of the dolphins' roster is on incognitos side. -

Might be one of those "how it was handled" things. This is the NFL, where you're talking about a group of alpha male personalities working together. You always hear about the mindset of how no weakness is allowed (a big thing that came up with all the current concussion awareness due to how players would play with them because, due to a lack/ignorance of knowledge about the future side effects of getting one's bell rung repeatedly, guys wouldn't complain because they'd be viewed as weak), so it's easy to see players siding against a teammate if they perceive him as a ***** who tattled about bullying and ran away from the team. Like in the "see, dude's too soft to be an OL in the NFL" sort of thought.queencitybuckeye;1530043 wrote:Personal thing or more of a mercenary mentality? I don't know if that's how players perceive Martin, but if he was bullied to the extent some stories have said and nothing internally was ever done about it, either he kept everything to himself and let the others perceive him as a wallflower who could be walked over OR no one simply cared about things happening to him due to dislike or just not respecting him. -
vball10setFirst there was "Tebow'd", then there was "Te'o'd", now there's "Incognito'd"...what's, or who's, next?

TiernanJust had a segment on the local news about Bullying in the Workplace based on this dumbass story.
-
friendfromlowryI started to read the first few pages then stopped because it was a waste of time.
I think Martin handled it the best way possible. This isn't your classic "strong vs weak" case of bullying, and some think Martin should/could have handled it himself. But Incognito is a weirdo and attacking him could set up a situation later where he retaliates with who knows what -- gun, knife, etc.
I don't really give a shit about what Mike Wallace and the rest of the team says. I'd guess that in their minds, they probably think Incognito is a POS just like the rest of us do. But they want to take the least controversial approach and just give a "so-so" response and move on. -
GblockNow the reports are he may have been ordered by the coaches to give Martin a code red after missed voluntary workouts
-
DeyDurkie5You guys are retarded. Dude got called a ******. The NFL is a business first and foremost. You can't call a black dude a ****** in a multi million dollar business. Stop being retarded hicks.
-
TiernanCode Red? Ya gotta be kidding me. A crazy roided up wild man threatens an intelligent black man and the black man simply doesn't want to deal with the bullshit associated with such berserk insanity and walks away telling the Dolphins and NFL to clean up your shit assholes, in the meantime ill collect whatever number I feel fits me.

I don't think Richie is/was a racist. He is a bully period. He can sling the N Word around his buddies and it's cool, yet use it to refer to an individual to hurt him. He probably thought he was not trying to hurt him, but just to fuck with him and it went to far.
Yet that's just my opinion and I could be wrong. -
Manhattan BuckeyeThe photo on cnnsi isn't doing either of them any favors. Incognito looks like he's borderline "special" and Martin looks like a 10 year old.

Manhattan BuckeyeThe plot thickens:
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/11/05/report-coaches-wanted-incognito-to-toughen-up-martin/?cid=Yahoo
And once again MB was correct, Martin is a softie, like many of the giney's here. One of these days I'll get tired of being correct all of the time...until then we can have the pussies like sports and lady making fools of themselves. -

That may be a bit of a stretch.Manhattan Buckeye;1530227 wrote:Martin is a softie
Clearly the MIA coaches suck. But it's hard to argue how financing a $15k trip to Vegas was supposed to toughen someone up. You have to be a dumbass to employ the likes of Ilcognition to "toughen up" a player. -

The video I saw of Incognito at a bar, ranting with his shirt off...You just kept hoping there was some MMA badass there that he'd try to push around.Manhattan Buckeye;1530226 wrote:The photo on cnnsi isn't doing either of them any favors. Incognito is a fat POS that needs his ass kicked. That's completely independent of this whole incident. -
Manhattan BuckeyeI agree, employing Incognito was definitely a bad decision. But Martin, come on. He would be hazed at the worst fraternity on campus. He's an NFL player making millions of dollars as a lineman with a job to beat the crap out of the guy on the other side of the line. Miami handled it wrong, but as I accurately stated on my first post on this thread, there is something about Martin.
-
gut
My conspiracy theory here is that Martin is gay, and the NFL and MIA is about to have a hell of a lot of legal problems....Manhattan Buckeye;1530231 wrote:there is something about Martin.
That actually makes all this make sense. Probably a lot worse crap we don't know about. -
Manhattan BuckeyeMethinks you are correct, as usual.
-
Manhattan BuckeyeAlso, this is a bit of an aside but are NFL scouts this incompetent? Having tutored some guys in the college football program I could tell a scout who was
NFL material and who wasn't...aside from physical talent. Some guys really wanted to be in the league and had the head on their shoulders to do it - other guys didn't, for various reasons.
