vdubb96Yeah, it for sure went a bit beyond your typical "hazing". Dude has some serious issues.
-
Manhattan BuckeyeIncognito has a history of being a total jerk (even back in Nebraska). The hazee does seem to be a bit of a wuss though. You're an NFL lineman, stand up for yourself.
-
vball10setRoid. Rage.

I'm pretty sure he was actually afraid of him. Did you read the voicemails (transcripts) and texts?Manhattan Buckeye;1529643 wrote: The hazee does seem to be a bit of a wuss though. You're an NFL lineman, stand up for yourself. -
justincredibleThis douche takes meatball to the extreme.

That's just dumb. The shit incognito was doing can not be justified at all and Martin should not be called a wuss for this.Manhattan Buckeye;1529643 wrote:Incognito has a history of being a total jerk (even back in Nebraska). If you complain about hazing where you have to eat by yourself at the cafeteria, yeah you're a wuss. But those voicemails, picking up 15k Vegas trips, huge bar and restaurant tabs, I'm fucking saying something. -
vball10setWhat is it about Husker linemen (also see Suh, Ndamukong) and their anger issues...is it the corn???

TiernanHow did he get caught?...I mean isn't he always "incognito" ?

Me?This entire thing is stupid and being blown totally out of proportion by the media. We all know ESPN loves this type of stuff, anything they can tie emotion into to sell advertising is a story they'll beat to death. As evident by some of the comments from other Dolphin players, including black players, about how Incognito isn't that bad of a dude. It kinda tells me that my original idea of what happened was correct. He's just that guy that no one likes. We all know a guy like that. He probably doesn't even believe what he says, he just legitimately thinks it's funny. And most of the time he'll never get called out because everyone thinks he's just that stupid doucher. Martin removed himself from the situation because it got to him. And that's fine, he shouldn't be called whatever various names he's being called. I do however think that we all need to grow some thicker skin, regardless of what color it is. Dudes like Incognito will ALWAYS be there. Intelligence neutralizes it. Martin is smart, that's why he removed himself from the situation rather than resorting to violence. People just have to learn to deal with guys like Incognito and let them make asses of themselves. But don't worry, Stephen A. Smith will do whatever he can to turn this into a huge emotional story in an attempt to demonize white people even further. There are certain people constantly trying to drive a wedge between different races of people, don't let them succeed. The VAST majority of us are perfectly capable of coexisting, getting along, being friends, etc. Like I said earlier, other Dolphins, especially Mike Wallace, put the fire out on this story. Just let it die, let Incognito go be a douche bag on some other team (he will by the way, the dude is a Pro Bowler, someone is bringing him in) and just move along.

Yes, and the link. apparently the Dolphins coach doesn't have much control. And Martin looks soft...son of two Harvard grads and looks like he's 13 years old. Incognito is a jerk, no argument about that but Martin needs to nut up a bit. He's only 6'5 and 300+ lbs. You don't just leave the team.LJ;1529649 wrote:I'm pretty sure he was actually afraid of him. ernest_t_bassSeems like Philbin did the right things. I don't see that as "not having control." I'd blame Ireland before I blamed Philbin.
-
Manhattan BuckeyeWhoever is in charge, an adult needs to take control. What is it with Stanford linemen? Is this the softest program in the country that still wins games?
As for Incognito, his reputation proceeded him, it is caveat emptor to any team that takes that a-hole. -

What other linemen are you referring to?Manhattan Buckeye;1529693 wrote:Whoever is in charge, an adult needs to take control. What is it with Stanford linemen? Is this the softest program in the country that still wins games?. -
Manhattan BuckeyeKwame Harris - another high draft pick from Stanford that was softer than charmin paper.
-edit, and very athletic...dude just didn't have the meanstreak in him to play lineman. -

Leaving the team was the right thing. Incognito is a nutcase. With all the threats Incognito has made to Martin, I am sure he felt that any retaliation would result in physical harm to him or his family (Incognito threatened his family multiple times). Being a wuss is rage quitting over being made to carry vet's pads at training camp. Being smart is removing yourself from a potentially dangerous situation. -
Manhattan BuckeyeIncognito is a nutcase, no argument there. But do you think Martin is the first person he bullied? My guess is that Incognito has been a total jackass to dozens of people, and his reputation indicates that. I'm not sure why Martin's situation is any different.
At any rate, I wouldn't want either on my team. -
Fab4RunnerNot sure how anyone can justify this type of behavior. NFL or not, that is a workplace, and that level of harassment should not be tolerated.
-
sportchamppsI'm going to guess Martin is a bit of a nerdy type. Since Martin is so big though he has never dealt with a bullying situation until now in the NFL where there are a lot of guys his size. Martin should have just took a swing at Incognito we see fights between teammates all the time in the preseason.
Also so how long has Martin had that message on tape. When did he first share it with the Dolphins. If he had that message on tape and waited until now to play it for the dolphins then GTFO with any lawsuit. -
Automatik
So if he's been a jackass to other people, he should get a pass? I'm not sure what your point is there.Manhattan Buckeye;1529715 wrote:Incognito is a nutcase, no argument there. I thought Martin was being a bitch at first, until the voicemails came out. As already stated.. regardless of the job, there is no place for that in the "workplace." -
Devils AdvocateMartin will never see another snap and retire a millionaire.
-
Manhattan BuckeyeMy point is other people handled it prior. I find it very difficult to believe that a professional jackass like Incognito just started on Martin. A professional jackass tends to be a jackass in order to build that reputation.
"So if he's been a jackass to other people, he should get a pass?"
who said that? Not me.
Are you freaking serious?
