Will Zimmerman get a fair trial in the Travon Martin case?

Can't wait until this crap is forgotten about, something else will come along to inflame the masses and the media.

It will resurface, though. As I recall, they're scheduling another Million Hoodie March.

Does anyone know what they are trying to acheive with this assembly? Is it to draw attention to a law that wasn't even considered by the jury in determining Mr. Zimmerman's lack of guilt.

I thought it was a statement that racism isn't dead in America. Not sure who said it was, though.

Thanks. It doesn't seem like magnifying the Martin / Zimmerman case would do much to squelch said racism.

As a general rule, I expect marches like this to often be devoid of reason and fueled by a mob mentality. I wouldn't search too hard for a logical means by which this will positively affect racism. I doubt the organizers are thinking that far into it.

    That's unfortunate.

Honest question, if Obama's mom is white and Zimmerman's dad is white... Isn't Obama more like Zimmeran than Trayvon Martin? Both are white? Or does it only work for one race?

Because the media is making it seem like Zimmerman got off because of SYG. SYG had absolutely nothing to do with his acquittal. This was a classic case of self-defense, and nothing more.

No. I don't think you understand the difference between a presumption the prosecutor has to rebut and an affirmative defense, which is part of why Florida's law is so defendant friendly in a scenario like this. The other ar is the difference between having to retreat vs. "stand your ground."

Just the difference in between a presumption and an affirmative defense makes the law controversial and absolutely has an effect in how the trial went.

You're talking out of your ass. Zimmerman never applied for stand your ground, which provides immunity from criminal and civil prosecution. They put on a basic self-defense case, which the DA fell woefully short of disproving.

And if you want to get technical, stand your ground didn't apply since Zimmerman claim to be pinned to the ground - according to the FL state senator who drafted the Stand Your Ground law.

" There is a common misunderstanding about the case. Many people believe that SYG was used as a defense. This mistaken view has been reinforced by people, including the President, calling for a national campaign against the law. (To his credit, he did not expressly claim that the law played a role at trial). In fact, the defense elected to present a traditional case of self-defense. SYG was

http://therightscoop.com/must-watch-bill-whittle-the-wretched-lynching-of-george-zimmerman/. Good video on Zimmerman not being a racist, (so give it up people) and the possibility that Martin's choice of items from the 7/11 were to make a drug when you mix in cough syrup. I wish more people would focus on how trashy this kid was instead of making him out to be some innocent angel.

as far as him smoking weed or drinking codine im not sure what that has to do with the case or what difference it makes. the more you bring it up it just makes it looks like youre trying to distract from the shooting. being a drug user doesnt mean you lose your rights or should get a death sentence. as far as zimmerman being a racist or not i dont think that matters either. he still shot an unarmed KID

Agree as far in it doesn't matter what trayvon was buying.

But trying to prove Zimmerman was a racist is a huge part of this story. If(which he is clearly not) he is racist, then charging murder two and the ongoing civil rights investigation, would make sense. However, the fact it has been proven he is not racist, and the media and govt still pursue these charges show an agenda

Unarmed please .. Fist, sidewalk, head stomp, at 64 year old I still snap your neck, cut you air supply .. That weapons ....GZ shot an attacker fearing for his life ... Can't retreat, can't run on the bottom .... Head being bashed on the side walk ....

gblock I'm surprised at you .. I would think you would know that in a fight there are no rules... TM underestimated his victim ... And lost ...
  • Gblock
I said both backgrounds were irrelevant..didn't say he was racist but he was out looking for suspicious blacks in the neighborhood per the descriptions of the breakins right? As far as someones head getting bashed the injuries he sustained don't support that..small cut

Under Florida law Trayvon Martin was not a kid.

And if Zimmerman was really going to just murder him in cold blood, he would've done it before he caught a beat down.

Unarmed kid with MMA training ...

I think George Zimmerman is the perfect American example of the right to bear arms. He was attacked and defended himself.

ccrunner609;1476063 wrote:Link? He wasn't "looking" for anyone. He was out watching his neighborhood. As for the size of the cuts, that doesn't matter. He was getting beat and had every right to pull a gun that he legally had and shoot the person that was doing it. Regardless of your comments, you cannot list one thing that GZ did that was illegal.
He actually was out on a "personal errand" when he saw treyvonn per the police report.

I would love for someone to answer these questions..

    1. Was Zimmerman following Martin?
    2. Is that illegal?
    3. Did Martin attack Zimmerman?
    4. What would you have done?

To which cut are you referring? One of the two on the back of his head? Also, which one is small? I'm thinking that much blood might warrant some level of panic from a 17-year-old kid with MMA training.

    Yes

I'm substantially bigger than Martin, so it's not a perfect parallel. I probably would have beaten him. Then again, I might also have been crucified for beating up an innocent, black, 12-year-old boy who just ran to the store to get his favorite candy and soft drink.

As everyone knows small cuts bleed a lot on head there are other pics out there that show them as very small..his nose def is messed up. But like I said previously he is not oficially involved w any block watch and was on his way somewhere and started to follow a law abiding citiczen but for this action and not letting the police get there someone lost their life...TM would have had no chance to jump him if he wasn't following him around. Very sad situation for both sides
